The two stood, their glowing forms meeting as they embraced. They held one another, caressing, kissing. Unbounded by prophecy, they stepped away from one another and away from the meadow. Emerging through the door, their forms faded and they stepped out -- not out of the small house in Vendigroth, but instead, into the snow swept streets of Tarant.
"Ready for another round, Bee?" Resh Craig asked, doffing his cap.
"Always, Resh," Beatrice Brummund said. "Though, he lives in Caladon, not Tarant, you know."
Resh grinned. "Oh, yes. Of course. But today, I want in on something."
"On what?" Beatrice asked.
Resh chuckled, then pointed. They stood before the Tarantian areoport -- and there, in bright lights, were the words: LAST FLIGHT OF THE ISF ZEPHYR -- RETIRING SOON!
Beatrice laughed. And, arm in arm, the gods walked aboard the airship for one last time.
THE END
A most fine story. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this. The twists and turns in new directions when the story appeared ready to go in another direction, were a delight. As were all the characters playing a key role and many of the 'evil' ones turning out to be not so evil at all. All neatly wrapped up in a box with a lovely bow on top. Reading this diversion was well worth the time away from the day to day humdrum that life sometimes presents. It's all what you choose, or do not choose.
Swoon...! Great last chapter, such a perfect ending. Again, every member of Resh's band played a part in the finale confrontation, incl. Dogmeat. I really liked the interaction of the characters, very lively, written with humor and wit. Highest marks. Thanks for some very entertaining hours of reading. :-D
Great series, I didn't realise it was heavily based on a RPG game until I came to the comments! Might have to check out Arcanum when I have some time.
I had to break down and figure out how to get Arcanum to run on my computer all over again thanks to this little gem. (I'm currently attempting to mod Virgil into Virginia).
What a great story. Well done and right along the story lines I enjoy, little Sci Fi, bit of Steampunk thrown in and a good amout of sex. Well done
Possibly the best story this far on Lit. Well told, huge universe, finished and wrapped up very nicely. Thanks for a grand adventure.
If you were to excise some some of the most violent and most erotic parts of your work, and have a copy editor go over it (it's altar, not alter, as an example of a frequent error), this would be a very publishable piece of writing.
And you have neither to cut out all the sex (heaven forfend!) and violence, nor abandon your original work. Offer two versions-- one a soft 'R', the other (the original) a full-on 'X', complete with homoerotic double penetration and thumbs graphically popping eyeballs.
In any case, each section earned its Five Stars ***** !
A wonderful tale with great characters, intriguing plots and twists and a marvelous ending. Thank you for this joy to read.
