But then lied is when you told a fib earlier.
Laid is past tense of lie, the horizontal kind for people in bed. Unfortunately it is also past tense of lay, as in an egg.

Look I get ur just being a critical but u don't need to be this nitpicky about everything. It's a story apparently u didn't get the memo of me saying my grammar is bad. Ppl will know what I mean
