Oh for the end

Your story reached the boring point at about Episode 2 - oh for the end of this interminable story

Reading the story is not mandatory

Anonymous comments that he lost interest at chapter two. I have to ask why (he)? is still reading?

I can't decide if the story is getting long in the tooth, or if there are meaningful twist of plot still ahead. Certainly some are hinted at, such as the potential divorce of Molly's parents and whether Peter will become possessively violent and harm Molly? I suppose that kind of action by Peter would act as a catalyst to push Chris over the edge and make him face his true feeling for Molly (whatever they are).

I have to wonder why Ralph is considering a trip to see if Susan will go, when it is quite clear she hates to travel anywhere out of the country? Seems like everyone knows what her decision would likely be?

Finally Molly gets a personality

It's good to see the ex-wife finally showing some personality of her own; this is the first chapter where she didn't seem (to me) mostly a caricature. Not that she seems to have a handle yet on exactly what damage she's done; surprisingly oblivious, still. Good point about why shouldn't she want to take half Peter's money, when she felt absolutely no qualms about taking half of Chris' money, and almost bankrupting him with support payments ...

+++END PARAGRAPH+++

One almost gets afraid that Chris will never mention any of the facts he's learned though, about how Peter worked on her for months and only decided she was "the one" after he had his way the first time. He's not as forthright with her as he is with anyone else, that's strange.

+++END PARAGRAPH+++

A little puzzler: when exactly did Susan first meet the swine? Before his seduction succeeded? And just when did she start working with him to undermine Chris' marriage? Was she one of his conquests, maybe?

+++END PARAGRAPH+++

This is well written, which is why I read it, but I agree that all these small chapters get frustrating.

+++END PARAGRAPH+++

really?

People have read this day in and day out...they are bored I guess...Me? I look forward to this story everyday , just to see. You got me. Is he gonna have her or be just "friends"? I personally think it could either way, but could lean to the reconciliation side. Anyway, BRAVO and look forward to your stories...

Full story

If you want to read the full story - all 22 chapters, go to Storiesonline. I happened to check Literotica this morning and saw that Back to Bristol is being posted here in installments.

With Literotica's current crop of authors, no sorry, make that two finger keyboard tappers, I went from a daily check for new stories to logging in maybe once a month to see if there is any gems in the rough

Suffice It to Say

that in terms of character development, I have to give it to Gary the author, when I compared/contrasted this story (in its entirety) with his other one, also equally long, but chopped into different chunks, each one from a different character's view, as THE MAIN character.

the cheating wife of Gary's TGIF series, of the first part (which has over 10 chapters) never, in my opinion, metamorphosed into grown-up person who truly regreted the pain she subject her husband to, when she repeated lied to him about fucking their older neighbor with the fancy car (a Jag, too?, my memory's failing me here!, but one that made possible mostly because of his rich wealth, it turned out).

i mean, that's a woman who said, during "counseling" session, "I told you [talking to her husband here, in front of their counselor], he did NOT ask me about fucking my but hole. He simply took it! He took what he wanted, I told you that!"

that, to me, is NEVER a woman you should marry to, much less RE-MARRIED to! there were a couple huge problems with this woman:

(1) not only did she cheat on her husband,

(2) not only did she lied to her husband, for months,

(3) not only did she not come clean with the affair (it was told to her husband and THEN she "admitted" afterward he already knew it), AND

(4) NOT ONLY did her lover take --- FORCABLY TAKE --- her but hole (something her husband wanted and had asked her repeatedly that they tried it and that it'd mean a lot to him, to them, as a loving couple, expressing their love for one another, pleas which SHE ALWAYS SAID NO TO),..... but....

(5) THAT she continued to have sex with that neighbor until the day their activities were forcably revealed to a devastated husband..... and all she said was, "I told you he did not ask me, LIKE YOU DID. He simply took what he wanted [stupid idiot!]," you could almost sense the contempt, although supposed Gary the author wrote that she's all tears, as she screamed these things to her puzzled, shocked, saddened, miserable husband, who, along with the counselor, was looking at her...

of course, as this cheating woman/wife explained it, she CONTINUED to deny her husband her but hole, EVEN AFTER HER LOVER HAD FORCABLY DEFLOWERED HER, because she thought it would give her husband suspcions about why she's willing now. So, her reasoning was, if her affair had not been found out, she would gladly allow her but hole to be fucked by her lover/neighbor, but would continue to deny it to her "loving" and "beloved" husband!

and then a whole bunch of TOTAL "counseling" sessions later, and then they continued to live apart, and then after many weeks, the cheating woman drove to his place, in a robe type dress and flung it aside and they just fucked like hell and then they're back again as a married couple.

i am almost sure part of the reason why Gary the author didn't want to go into "counseling" sessions in THIS STORY was because a lot of people gave him hell over that other story, although I'm almost sure Gary would likely denied such an assertion. in that other story, the counseling description of the sex was for the benefit of the AUDIENCE, really; it was not for the two main characters to understand each other. why not? because those sessions where so numbingly dumbly put together. (if I remember correctly, the counselor's more like a real estate agent, rather than a full time, competent psychologist or other types with an advance degree)...

SURELY ENOUGH, THIS PRESENT STORY here, with Molly and Chris, NO STUPID COUNSELING and they still managed to make out all right at the end. the twice-a-week sessions, although much of them truncated/implied, I thought, were MUCH MUCH MUCH more realistic and satisfying and more REAL than the counseling with that real estate person in Gary's earlier cheating wife/TGIF story.

with this story, you could actually see the powerfully sorrowful --- deep, heartfelt, sorrowful --- state of anguish, sadness, helplessness, and regret that Molly exhibited during many of the many times they met together, at his flat, to talk. one short fuck in the afternoon at Peter's flat, a short hour or two during which she admitted she "forgot" about her loving husband, children, and family and the vows they made to each other, Molly said, was what caused her more sadness, emptiness, and regret than all those years separated from Chris after it....

again, at the end of THIS STORY, you sensed that Molly had truly matured; she's MORE ASSERTIVE, more open, more loving, more humbled ---- a person whom you could trust with your life and savings. (she actually, without any one's knowledge, esp. Chris, invested ALL of what Chris gave to her in a trust fund for their two sons, spending none of the money. this act showed that she had long term objectives, whether living out her life with or without Chris, the one she truly loved but also heinously transgressed against).

in the TGIF story sets..... I had no "trust" or positive "feelings" towards either main character: not the woman in the first set of chaters; and certainly not the GUY in the second set of chapters ---- both stories connected in that all the characters are co-workers/colleagues of some type.

in the Molly character in THIS STORY, Gary took his time and though it's frustrating, at the end, you come to understand Molly's pains and sacrifices, as well as her great mistakes, and you therefore come to like her as a person who you know has triumphed over great odds to reclaim a life with a man she, for many years, had only fantasized about but had no real hope of ever being loved by again .... with his two small sons perpetually reminding HER of what she had done to that man, to that life, and to the promises Chris and her had promised another, years ago in their early twenties where money was tight but where Chris would spend most of it to buy her precious things...

again, THIS has been a well told story, once you get over the frustratingly interruptive posting style of it.

Glad to see everyone is still here

I have been getting up early every morning to get my daily fix of B2B. I know the story has been posted elsewhere in its entirety but I enjoy the serial format and also the reader comments. 22 Chapters huh? I had wondered how Gary was going to effect a plausible reconciliation. What Molly did was almost unforgivable. It has to take a while for Chris to forgive her. She is going to have to do some major ass kissing but she has 7 chapters to do it. It doesn't get any better for me than this. I love it.

interesting developments

Gary, this story keeps my interest day after day and, at the end of the day, isn't that the point of a novel? I may not agree with your characters and I may mutter to myself at their stupidity or reasoning, but I care enough about them to let myself get involved. for that I salute you and will keep on reading.

I will admit that I broke down and finished reading the story when it was posted on the other site, but that won't stop me from re reading it on a serial basis on this site. I promise not to spoil it for those who are reading it in serial form.

In this chapter, the thing that fascinated me was the character of Molly. Her mixture of contrasts and contradictions are frustrating to the reader, but, in the end may be what make her such a believable chaacter. Just like in real life, she has her blind spots and moments of ignorance that make her human.

Last chapter, it was her obliviousness in wearing perfume that Peter bought her. This chapter its the issue of the financial settlement. You write her as a character that everyone believes is full of compassion and concern for others, but, when it comes to Chris, she seems oblivious to the pain she causes him.

I think that anyone can agree that it is only natural for Chris to compare Molly's behavior in the two divorces. If he sees her treating Peter with more compassion or consideration than she gave to Chris, he is going to be hurt. That is what makes Molly's behavior so frustrating. How can she not realize that he would be hurt by her apparent desire not to hurt Peter in the divorce when Chris was devastated?

On a related note, Chris's willingness to look past her faults and still deal with her may be what makes him believable too. We as readers may tear our hair out and curse his stupidity for loving a woman like Molly, but loving a person despite their faults is what makes him real. How many of us forgive our spouse's for faults and foibles far worse than we would suffer from others?

On a final note, I truly appreciate the irony of Peter's behavior in begging Molly to talk and work things out, not to mention Susan's pressure in other chapters to "give Peter a chance". This is a wonderful counterpoint to their advice/behavior in the earlier divorce to give Chris room to work things through for himself.

Anyway, another entertaining chapter.

YOU CAN"T SUE!!!!!!

I am so tired of people taking about suing the company or the spouse's lover. It has been nearly a century since that was an actionable issue. It may be a good plot device, but it is not real life! You also cannot take someone for everything he has for beating him up. You also are unlikely to get anything but probation for beating someone up over an affair.

Kiddnapping and torture is a pretty bad idea though!

Alienation of affection

As of 2003, alienation of affection appears to be a viable cause of action in these states: Hawaii, Illinois, Mississippi,New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Dakota and Utah. I Googled it. I have no idea what the laws are like in England, But making a blanket statment that you can't sue is wrong. It depends on where you live.

What a ride!

I started the story here, so I'll finish it here. Since I'm a relative newcomer to literotica, this is the first time I've posted comments on an on-going story. The comments are nearly as good as the story. I'm always eager for the next installment (a small testament to Gary's talent as a writer), but I'm continually amazed and amused by the comments. People hate the story, but they're still here. People hate the format, but they're still here. People hate the characters, but they're still here. People even get uptight about the comments and, sure enough, they're still here. So many people see the same words and yet get so many different meanings from them. Some of the comments are quite good, some are rather stupid (uh, those would be mine), and some are quite insightful. With another week to go, I still don't have a clear picture of where Gary is heading. We keep hearing what a strong, intelligent person Molly is, but we mostly see her being weak and stupid. Chris is supposedly a rising star in the business world, but we mostly see him being hesitant and indecisive. Gary, you've cooked up quite a stew of characters, but I feel like it's time to quit simmering and bring things to a boil. As always, thank you for sharing your talent with us Gary I look forward to the rest of the ride.

Reading it on the other site

has had one effect all ready. There seems to be less comments on this chapter than the previous ones had in the first 16 hours. Personally I read it and plan to reread it here in daily doses.

The difference in how Molly treated Chris financially during the divorce was in terms of guaranteeing the future of their children and I really feel that she could have a brief for saying that Peter had all ready made a suitable contribution to the kids in payment for the four years of wifely attentions.

Going really well, GaryAPB

The informations is paced just right and the character seem real. They have their actions and reactions, their feelings and counter-feelings.

I like how you're bringing the emotions out bit by bit as well. Each chapter brings more to the fullness of the story.

Thank you, once again, for sharing your talent with the rest of us.

Waiting!

Enjoy your writing, but hope ,at some point, Chris gets over his "foot in mouth" illness. He does have a knack for saying the wrong thing and with Molly, a woman who can't make up her mind about anything it's easy to say the wrong thing. I'm curious about Peter. Everyone including Molly says he is such a wonderful guy, until recently, why does he come across as such an obnoxious bastard

Really trying hard NOT to dislike Chris...and his pedantic moral superiority. I can't believe that Susan is such a self-centered bitch, one who can't understand the damage she's caused. She's quite warped as a person, as a wife and mother.

newcomer you are correct about all the feedback... Gary is feeding off all this and melding it into his chapters to drag it out, on and on. IF everyone would just shut up he would be forced to wind up this odyssey, and we can move along to write our own epics.

Ho ho ho and a bottle of rum!

Every meeting with Molly required a drink. Is this getting to be excessive? Aside from that, why is Molly’s financial settlement with Peter any of Chris’ business?

While I concur that you write well, your plotting of the story needs a lot of work. The Chris of chapters 1-5 is very different from this character in this chapter. Given that human beings are creatures of habit, how do you as an author account for, or illustrate such a transition?

Chris says: "Molly always had a lot of integrity."

Yep Chris, that's why your not married to her now, her 'integrity'. Right?

What sort of trampy slut fucks around on her husband then remarries and has him in bed before the other side has cooled? Yep, real integrity.....

But damn, I love this story!

Insurance laws must be different in England. In the States if you are an insured driver you can generally drive any car.

I don’t quite understand her opposition to the talks. I DO understand her disappointment that the objective isn’t to get them back together, but she should understand that Chris isn’t ready for that YET (even though he doesn’t believe he ever will be), and that she should work with him on improving their current relationship in the hope that he will then want to take it further.

Peter: “I'm her husband.”

NOW he has a well-developed sense of husband’s rights. Too bad he didn’t have it when she was married to Chris!

Susan talks about Chris’s “career driven life”. I believe it only became career driven after she broke up their marriage!

Re: Peter’s absence – even if you wanted to make the case that it was Chris’s fault that he felt he couldn’t work, he STILL should have called in, to simply not show up for work was unprofessional.

She isn’t helping her case by defending Peter.

It never bothered her to take her share from the marriage to Chris, and you can argue that he was hurt just as much as Peter, with less fault, even if the divorce WAS his own idea.

Gah!

First thing is congrats. Good chapter. Four out of five. Then gah! Really Chris? Really? You find your wife was practically drugged into sex and then tricked by her mother to divorce you and you are still playing the cold fish? I say again. Gah! How did you not see Ralph's letters and drive straight to Molly's house and run into her arms and forgive her. Sheesh. Okay I feel better now. Some commentators have noted there could be a cultural issue at play here ie. the famous British reserve and stiff (get your mind out of the gutter) upper lip, and I tend to agree. I think the author is not rushing the reconciliation and is cooling down the story after the last two hot chapters. I understand that. But there are times when Chris seems quite cold-blooded. I want to cuff him on the back of the head. A few minor complaints. He doesn't want to talk to Molly, then he invites her to the safari park with the kids and initiates the conversation in the car. I know in real life people say one thing but do the other. But it was frustrating. Also late in the chapter he seems more concerned with hurting Peter than reaching any kind of understanding with his ex-wife. Again maybe that is realistic. But he must know she is emotionally vulnerable after moving out. He could take it easier for one night. On the positive side I thought Molly was beautifully written in her scenes during the safari park visit. And the best line was when Ben tells Molly she has to say she was very, very sorry. That really rang true as something a child would say. Cheer Steve

telboy17telboy17about 8 years ago
Why

Why is he pretending to want to talk about everything and what may or may not happen in the future when he has already decided. She is not allowed to say she loves him "it does make sense". The clincher is his words not long after she comes in the door "When we don't make it, I don't want to be the bad guy".

So far for 15 chapters his opinions are all that matter. Ralph, Molly, Carole, Myra, Piers statements are answered with "why don't they listen to what I want" or something similar.

I am enjoying all the characters (good and evil) in the story but Chris is getting harder to stomach.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 7 years ago
childish character

It is here that I'm being troubled by the characters. It may just be the British/UK personalities, but the beating of the proverbial dead horse is never better than in this chapter.

Chris is definitely set in his bachelor ways and treats his ex-wife less than an employee (see the final few paragraphs/meeting between the two)

Molly is a doormat. Simple as that. At some point she needs to put a foot down and exert her individuality. His comment on "how she is to dress" when she meets with him drew a gasp on this end. Any normal woman would see that a change in tactics was called for (i.e. if he is allowing himself sexual relief than as a free agent, she should see how it works placing that "shoe on the other foot")

Again some good writing, but I find myself getting a bit confused by some of the terms and ways of the Brits. I also see why they haven't kicked the Muslims from their island as they are probably still talking about it - wondering if it wouldn't be better to sink their heads further into the sand.

ILLOGICAL

Chris' logic:

REASON Peter was a lying, conniving bastard who deliberately planned seductions of married women, including Molly.

CONCLUSION. Go after Peter financially in the divorce.

Molly's logic:

REASON: Peter is a nice guy who loved her and took care of her and her kids whom she is putting through the heartache of a divorce which he does not want.

CONCLUSION. Go easy on Peter financially in the divorce.

ILLOGIC. Chris tries to convince Molly to go after Peter financially in the divorce.

LOGIC Demonstrate to Molly that Peter is a lying (eg. lying about the Grappa), conniving bastard ( eg the collusion with Susan to get Molly to divorce Chris and marry Peter) who deliberately planned seductions of married women (Dennis Murrel and Piers said there have been several), including Molly (the day she fell was not spur-of-the-moment).

Why is Chris holding back the truth about Peter while expecting Molly to come down hard on him? If she realized what he was really like, coming down on him would almost be a foregone conclusion.

Seems this story is mostly made up of people acting in ways that do not make sense. Then again, if all acted sensibility maybe there would be no story.

WTF!!!!!!!!

Is there a Bible verse that goes something like: "and just when I thought she couldn't get any God damn stupider.................

She goes and opens her fucking mouth!!!!!!!!!"

AnonymousAnonymousabout 5 years ago
This is a great story.

What is really pissing me off, is that Molly is always defending Peter. For fuck sakes, he fed her grappa when they went out the first time (hers and his) plus wine then he takes her to his flat feeds her more booze, then spills supposedly hot water on himself , strips down to his boxers, and then he fucks her. And she went back, two more times. I would like to clear something up. cense when is fucking another man not your husband, a mistake, and not adultery ? Molly keeps supporting Peter, (hes a good man, he doesn't deserve retribution and so on and so on. If I was Chris, Id make arrangement with the courts concerning the boys and forget about Molly and her mistake. Shes the most exasperating person in this story. Why do most if not all British author seem to accept adultery so readily, like fucking out side the marriage is no big deal ? Like this authors other story, where the wife was fucking the neighbor next door for it was three or six months, I don't remember but when she told him he fucked her in the ass he went ape shit. I know, I know, she denied her husband that. Myself I don't get asshole fucking. when theres a juicy vagina just millimeters away. Who would want a shitty cock, when you could have a nice slippery one? Well getting back to this story all I can say is RUN FORREST RUN.

Artie88Artie88about 4 years ago
Getting to be a bit more mature at least

A bit of a whitewash of things, but moving forward, at glacial speed.

It seems almost as if the author wants to keep throwing up roadblocks or twists in the road for their own sake rather than keeping true to the story.

But, really, the whole story has been this way, so why should I be surprised?

management91399management91399about 4 years ago

Well I know I can just skip ahead and read what happens but it's nice to drop a trail of breadcrumbs in the comments about where I hope we're NOT going. This is becoming more and more a game of chess and not battleship which a lot of the LW stories are. At some point the bad man, the adulterer who stole the wife gets his, his testicles get smashed, his mother disowns him, his dog bites him, he looses the clearinghouse sweepstakes and it's grand opera or theater of the absurd. This is a puzzle and I like how Gary is showing us the pieces of the puzzle one at a time. This episodes puzzle, why does peter need protection, why doesn't he share any of the punishment Molly has inflicted on herself.

But hope he doesn't fly off into a mad rage and kidnap the kids or beat up Chris or go postal at the lab, it would really bring down the story i think, I mean if you made that work Gary good for you but is a story of a negotiation and not a boxing match. Refreshing.

"I decided to back off for a while"

It's this kind of misguided nonsense that makes Chris so irritating. This is the perfect time to hammer home what an immoral shitbag Peter was. Chris knows that Peter was a predator that went after married women... that he got Molly drunk, then fucked her when she wasn't in a position to stop him. So tell her!

In his position, I'd make it quite clear that if Molly ever defended Peter again there was no chance of reconciliation. I'd start referring to him as "the rapist" and get her to see him for what he really was. Buy her a new phone to stop Peter stalking her, then work Molly up to the point where she blamed Peter for everything and hated him as much as Chris did. Then unleash a furious Molly on Peter in the divorce and ruin the bastard.

Susan and Peter played dirty to steal his wife. They both deserve to suffer brutal consequences for that.

He is becoming an unlikable character. She obviously wants nothing from her marriage with a Peter so she can get it over and done with as quickly as possible but his ego wants Peter to suffer, but he also wants the divorce and her away from Peter as quickly as possible. He is becoming a bit of a whiner who has to have it his way, even if his way doesn't make any sense.

cyendreycyendrey7 months ago

I have wanted to give the story to date any stars, but not because of poor writing. The MC has been nothing but an asshat of ever increasing proportion. While he continues to whine, wallow in self pity, and do that passive aggressive thing to torture everyone around him, his word choices and caveats indicate he made his decision and is just dancing all around it to lead his ec down the primrose path until he can destroy her as she did him.

She at least regretted and hated herself for what happened even if she had never learned how her seducer and her mother had planned the whole thing. So readers are subjected to endless chapters of his machinations to extend her torture. Whatever he may have have been, currently he is a more worthless human than her seducer.

I really tried to like this story, but I give up. They’re both guilty of emotional manipulation. Chris doesn’t want to see a nosy counselor, but he tells every single one of his friends and colleagues the details of his relationship with Molly. When Molly told her children that she’ll do everything she can to make their dad come back, that was the last straw. She’s using her children to get what she wants, just like her mother.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 2 months ago

It makes no sense. Is everyone but Molly aware of the extent of Susan and Peter's collusion and lies? I can't imagine anyone after finding out the depths to which the pair have gone to manipulate them not going ballistic. It's the kind of fact that once known just rewrites history and I cannot for the life of me imagine wanting to be with someone that would after all that still view Peter as anything other than a sociopathic shit stain.

Its just crazy, and even more so when you consider the way Molly has treated Peter over the last 4 years. Seriously, she's unhinged and not in a good way. To be able to do that to someone while still proclaiming they're a nice person etc., is beyond compartmentalisation it's heading into split personality land.
