The pill was introduced in 1960. I had sex with a girl who was using it in early 1963, so these folks actually would have been able to use it.

While the pill was out in the 60's, many states forbade or highly regulated its use.

As close as you were, it is a shame that you did not just throw your hands up in the air and not worry about pregnancies.
