What a lovely, sweet story. Reading and editing this story was a pleasure. Can't wait for more of this story, if you choose to write it.

Great story!

When they continue to get together -- and they move toward making love --please give this sexy Rain a hairy chest for Tabora to cuddle against. He is a real gentleman and a real catch for her!

Love it, love it, love it!

You built some beautiful characters and the dialog pulled me in. The storyline is wonderful, and you even inserted some accurate 1970's car stuff. It's as if you wrote this just for me.

The protector in me wants Joey hurt. I want him to hurt badly. Really badly.

5 stars, and 100's of hearts! Thank you for sharing your gift.

Thank You

Was going through Randi withdrawal and this is a great fix.

This story is so, Randi.

Loved the seventies timeline. A lot of memories stirred from my youth.

Great cars, music and no cell phones.

Las Cruces

You know Las Cruces too well to be a stranger. I moved here in 2006 and retired in 2016. My favorite restaurant is El Sombrero and my best friend, Casper, and I are there almost every Thursday at the same table. A couple of old farts relaxing and enjoying life. You are one of my favorite authors here. Keep up the good work as you are really appreciated.

My favorite person on Literotica.

Not just because of the stories, either. She's in the top five percent of writers on the site, but it's bringing readers like me these great stories other than her own that makes me love her. Not only does she write and bring us other stories, she edits for half the great writers around. I have trouble believing that one woman can do all the things she does. Thanks blackrandl.

That's a good thing. Full of deep emotion, and love of humanity. Full of people who wear their emotions on their sleeves. Great story.

Thank you randi for putting this event together for us readers. The romances are my favorite stories on this site, and to have the best writers on this site all writing romances at the same time, is like an early Xmas present.

Thanks again, and happy holidays.

I need to add my thanks and congratulations for all your good work

I had seen the many kudos that other authors included in their forewords and was impressed at how many of them you had helped. Recently, I found some of your work and then clicked on your list of stories.

You work is well done, with good writing and great themes. I read mostly "loving wives" for some reason even though I have been with my wife for 59 years with no thoughts of straying myself and no worries over my wife's fidelity. She was a teacher and one of the "hottest" in the schools she taught in, but I am confident that she didn't even flirt -- but was well thought of by all her peers, elected as teachers' union representative and teacher of the year too many years to count.

Your stories make me feel good that there are other romantic couples out there that have found the love of their life and avoid most of the trials and tribulations that are the subject of "loving wives". I need to switch to romance after I finish reading all of your stories.

THANK YOU again -- I hope that your life is wonderful and I look forward to reading more of your work. I am Anonymous because I cannot remember my "member" information but I feel like you are a friend. I have written thousands of technical and business projects but am in awe of those of you who can write good fiction.

Best regards, wally@torchlake.com

One Fine Story!

I just have to say that I really enjoyed this story. I guess I have a weakness for a story that has someone down-on-thier-luck meeting someone that is truly a good person...and then throw in a cute young child and I am sold on the story.

Thank you for a beautiful start of a beautiful tale.

For The Very First Time

I thought I found a mistake in one of your stories, but of course as it turned out I was wrong. There wasn't a real timeline given in the story, but you had her driving a Ford Fairlane that was around ten years old with a generator instead of an alternator. That would have made the Fairlane at least a couple of years older than my '67 Mustang as Ford didn't switch to alternators till around '64-'65. Then you threw in "This was a cover of the new Carol King song, "So Far Away." That 'new' song came out the year I graduated, making this story circa 1961. I can understand Tabora wanting somewhere warmer than Saginaw, she should be used to blizzards as it's not like back in Michigan we didn't have snow. At least she wasn't leaving Flint, I think you can still drink the water in Saginaw. Don't think anyone ever wrote a hit song about Flint either. Great story as usual Randi, now we just have to see about Joey since we already know where the love story is going. I'm beginning to think you really are a car lady. Signed: BTW

Per Wikipedia: “So Far Away” is a song written by Carole King, which appeared on her 1971 album Tapestry. Yer a decade off.

IndyOnIndyOnalmost 4 years ago
Time Line

For those of you trying to figure out what year this story occurred just go back to the first paragraph or two to see he bought a new 1970 Dodge and after a few months he was at the dealership getting the oil changed when he met Tabora & Malley! Also the song, So Far Away, was released on Carol King's Tapestry album in 1971 and rose to #4 in the contemporary charts.

Great story Randi....just like all your others!

Re: IndyOn

Thanks for setting the date correctly, my reference to 1961 was a typo that I can't believe I missed, I graduated in 1971, the year her song came out. The hit song I hinted at was Lefty Frizzell's last number one; 'Saginaw, Michigan'. The only thing in the story that I might have changed would have had Three Dog Night's 'Joy To The World' playing on the radio in the truck instead of 'One Man Band' which also came out that year. Then again maybe that would have been too obvious.

Randi, I'm going out on a limb here, Tabora is dark skinned as is Malley. Barrett is redheaded with no mention that I saw about Rain other than his large size. Don't suppose he is too with any veiled comparisons? One of the fun things about your stories beyond the impeccable writing is discovering what names you come up with for your characters. Thanks again. Signed: BTW

Beautiful story, when I first read this story, I missed the part about B&W, I always thought it was media hype, until my best mate started dating an African lady, on a trip to London, the scowls they got, saddened me.
