Wow. I am thoroughly impressed. I loved the little touches of externalism (My glass is empty, thank you). As you have discovered writing in first person narrative is tricky business. I think you did an incredible job! Hip Hip Huzzah!

At the beginning it's cute, funny, but then it turns dark pretty quickly. Perfect for Halloween. My only problem is that now I'm scared of my cats...

I honestly doubt this is your first attempt at writing. It's not the best, but it is very good. It's much better than someone who's never written anything before. I hope you do well in the competition
