. . . not really one of your best. Very believable, though, in the family dynamics described, and very enjoyable indeed. I think what it lacks--in my eyes anyway--is a sense of movement toward a point of any kind.
Short and sweet, though. If your others weren't so good, I'd be less disappointed. I'm always glad when you post a new story.

reminds me of my family and how our holidays have changed in the last ten years. Some things are better but lots of things we did in the past are things I now miss. Yet life goes on.
I enjoyed this. It flowed along with in a believable way as the old man reminisced. The thing about any good story is, it often says different things to each who read it. In my case, as I thought about it for awhile after reading it...I felt it was saying to me; See, see how much we've scattered and lost the closeness of extended family and the traditions passed down. To me, any piece of writing that can form such unique, individual and personal thoughts has hit the mark.
I see no humor / satire in this airy family reminiscence. Sorry, but 4 stars.
