Daylight heard the female voice calling her. It was a familiar voice, one that was always near her redheaded friend. She looked and saw the woman standing alone in the center of the field. She was waving to her to come closer. She did not fear her. She was with her when her last foals were born. She trusted her and move towards her.

Delicious closed the distance with her also.

As they reached each other, she scratched the mare's ears and neck as a sign of friendship.

Daylight did not understand her words, as she understood Teddy's, but she understood that she was telling her there was danger close by. She kept pointing towards a man close to the rest of her herd. It took a while, but she did make the connection, and went to her to move her family away from the forest, and towards the men. It must be safer by their ship, because he and his other herd members would protect them.

She went to the mares, with suckling foals, and began moving them away from the forest. Admiral saw what she was doing with the younger members of the herd, and signaled for the rest of the members of his extended family to follow suit.

Soon, all the members of his herd were within the area guarded by Teddy's friends, and they began to feed, play, and relax. Even as the large flying machine lifted into the air, the horses were not startled. They had seen it happen many times before and they had always returned. Daylight was doubly sure that the large machine would return. Her redheaded friend was not here, she promised that she would be here, and watch the delivery of her next baby. Teddy never lied her, and she even let Teddy sit on her back. Some of the other horses were allowing children and some adults sit on their backs, also. The people weren't very heavy, and since they were guarding them, it seemed a fair thing to do.

Less than an hour after the horses moved into the protected zone, four huge beasts exited the forest, less than 600 yards from the edge of the area. The horses smell them, and the fresh blood of one of their own on their fur. They became very skittish and were ready to run.

Delicious patted Daylights neck and flank. She looked up into her big brown eyes and smiled.

"Don't worry big girl, stay with me and my friends, and all of us will be safe. Tell Admiral what I said, and have him keep everyone calm."

It was done, even though Daylight would rather have heard it said from the red-headed girl.

The sixth leg beasts were in no hurry to attack. They broke off into pairs as they closed in. They were looking for a weakness to attack, but they had never come up against rifles and machine guns before. Where they saw three or four men/women standing together they moved on until they saw the next three or four defenders standing together. They were smart, they moved in a central point between sets of defenders until they were less than 30 yards from the opening between them. Then, with a burst of speed, unlike anything that defenders had ever seen before, they charged towards the opening.

They had never heard of fields of fire. The huge animals were cut to pieces before they were 15 yards from the entrance. Gordon and Gray were 2 of snipers ten yards behind the lines. One way or another, these huge beasts did not stand a chance. As they looked down at the mangled beasts, there was more movement along the tree line. Nothing broke into the clearing, but everyone knew smaller carnivores were looking towards the encampment with evil intent.

These smaller carnivores counted on the larger one's do the heavy work, so they could clean up the scraps, when the Liger-Like beasts were finished killing and eating. Their plans were squashed, and now they were the ones who were going to be hunted. They had to find a way out this area and these new animals that controlled it.

Note:

It has been nearly 6 weeks since I've been able to access my computer. I have been working for a little over one hour and it is only 10:53 PM, April 30, 2017. My prison guard, and full-time grouch of a son is standing over me telling me it's go to sleep. This is the first time I have felt awake and alert enough to do any writing at all, and he is looking at me as if I have committed a crime against humanity. I guess he has met some of my readers, and they agree with him that the tone and tenure of my writing has not been uplifting lately. His hands are on his hips and fire is coming out of his mouth which is normal for him when he is not eating. I'm going to try to get him out of my house, and into his own home and try to start writing again.

I will be back with you as soon as I can.

I have suffered a Stroke, and between hospital, and rehabilitation stays, I have just returned to the comforts of my own home. Now I have an aide who works for me full-time. She is actually an agent for my son, because if I don't take my medications exactly on time, eat the required amount of food, or take my nap at 10AM until noon, and 3PM until 5PM, I suddenly get a phone call from my son. I think I'm going to take Nancy, my aide, on a two-week cruise to Alaska. I will start in San Diego, and do a round trip on the boat because I am wheelchair bound. It will drive my son nutty not to have communications with me!!!

I have a new laptop, yes, I purchased a laptop, plus a wonderful device called an "AirDesk." It looks like a jungle gym for electronic devices, and works perfectly for me. I even wrote a note to the manufacturer, expressing my 'delight' in their product.

I can't get away any more delays on my computer now, because my son will yank it out of my room if I don't stop using it. I figured I would give you what I had down on paper now, just to let you know how things are going, and to let you know that God has not taken this agnostic yet. I will tell you something, She sure is throwing everything in the Good Book at me trying to find my breaking point. My doctors say that 'I am the healthiest looking sick person they have ever known.' This last shot across the bow surely was a good one.

Good night, and may Your God keep you all in the palm of her hand; yes, even you to my son."

Trouble

Bob,

To echo a previous comment please take care of yourself. As selfish as we (those of us who impatiently wait for your next submission) are your health comes first.

Listen to what we and your son say.

As your son keeps telling you don't rush things or you won't recover as quickly as you will if you follow doctors orders and your son is doing this for one reason he loves you.

On a selfish note write when your allowed you will write much more if you follow docs orders and we all need to find out what the end is I'm looking forward to Gordon's in laws seeing their granddaughter for the first time.

I hope you get better asap all the best buddy.
