They both made affirmative noises without actually talking and I laughed. I looked at the nightstand and it was nearly 2am. I definitely wasn't going to work in the morning. I hoped neither of them had to work early Thursday morning either. Ashanti fell asleep first with slow, steady snores.
Nikki said "you called me girlfriend earlier. Did you mean to?"
I thought for a second and replied "I don't think I meant to, but I'd be happy if you decided to be my girlfriend."
She turned her head and kissed me and said "okay, you're my boyfriend. Thanks for not being an asshole."
We smiled at each other. We fell asleep shortly after Ashanti had.
