I love your straight to the point short stories.
Far, far better than other peoples long drawn out boring ones that go on and on.
Waiting for the next one. Hurry up.
Too much of a bad thing is much worse than too much of a good thing 2**
Why was this in the LW category? Better yet, why was it even published. If anything it should have been in humor and satire.
Full of wit and charm, as is your normal! We see too little of your contributions these days, so it lifts the quality of the entire genre when you do make an appearance!
PostScriptor
This was…bizarre.
So he cheated on his wife and she wants him back? They divorce but she wants him back? Why the hell would she want a cheater back?
Great story and a good laugh, but let’s be fair Brit, isn’t every night in London dark and damp?
Great story to brighten up a dull grey Saturday. It's not often I find a 'Loving Wives' story that gets me chuckling, as this certainly did, more than once. Thanks.
Hmmm...
It was quite different I daresay.
But I do have this feeling of being forced feed to taste what I think is an attempt at British comedy.
Yes in a way it was almost funny.
Don't get me wrong I love British humour (Full Monty, John Cleese, Mr. Bean etc.).
But I do appreciate Britease's effort to be different.
Thanks!
Anything that makes me smiles in this day and age is greatly appreciated.
Well done.
One of the best openings ever...and, for the bulk of the story, one must agree: nothing exceeds like excess!
This rambled on so badly I couldn't keep up. The story shifts from the hulk barging in to his ex possibly starring in Bond movies... not your best effort, sorry.
Couldn’t really tell what I thought , but it seems I must have liked it , a lot maybe even , the funny thing is , the story !
every other word, but not exactly in that order?
Anyway, good to see you post -
I'm a bit disappointed in the scoring, but it is a challenging piece (unreliable narrator and all) and, I get a hint of memory, of a style that is more of your longitude than mine. Still they are just poo. I give it 5.
Green-something
This writer is one of my favorites here. This particular effort is a swing and a miss.
Poor Shotty, boy couldn't win for losing. Strange little story, but since I'm a big fan of Denham, I know what a porky pie is and this was hilarious.
I came away with a sense that Britease had a unwritten desire for Alf and Snotty to end up together. Alf in action and dialogue was written very weak and unmanly. It was not a fun read for me. 2 star
Again an interesting story told to us to appease our Insatiable thirst for humor. Sorry, I just had to be little bit of a prig.
Play the double-six.
And stick in...err, with Amanda. That'll be 10 quid, please. I take Visa & MC, no AmEx, and I'll toss in five stars.
Not worth the electrons required to create it. I guess this is British humor? Great. You can have it. British humor is about as palatable as British cooking, and about as much fun as British sex.
But thanks for the effort.
I just loved it .....
After all of the 'rubbish' that gets printed in this column ( and I should know as I've read most of what has been written here) it is regreshing to get some genuine humour gor a change...
Mind you ...what if 'he' was deadly serious ????
Oh well ....... ( shrugs and walks away)......
All the female characters here are the one's wearing the men's pants while the males here are wearing thong panties.
There is NOTHING so grand as a British sense of humor. It obviously developed around the supper table, begotten by the immense sense of culinary deprivation that has been handed down generationally. Or, perhaps its the fact that when it comes to bending the English language into funny-shaped pretzels, the Brits are always the 'Home Team'!
.
Laughed my ass off! 5/5!!!!
Childish writing that only got worse as it went on.
A “British-ey”. In the same sense you’ve had to have lived in NYC for at least a decade to get Woody Allen’s “Manhattan” humor, with references to particular subway lines, bridges, tunnels, buildings, parks, etc that only a long time resident would know.
This is an odd story but fun. Stick with Amanda, your soon EX has already cheated, disrespected, betrayed, and left you. The EX domino has fallen, seek a new life, take a risk - ask granny.

4*, different culture different read but still fundamental, Hooyah
Awesome, loved it, it's going to take a while to get the grin off my face
A bit of tiddly fluff from an accomplished author. I had a teacher like Granny once. Sister Mary Teckela (shiver).
P.S. Beware the Jubjub bird, Old Boy!
1. Why is this under LW
2. Should by (at best) non-erotic
3. Why was it even posted? Makes no sense at all.
I assume all the negative comments are mostly from American readers who not only don't understand the humour but don't have such a thing as humour in their country.
absolutely, gobsmackilng stupid. I can't even say I like the style of writing. Yep an North American reader.
This story is so stupid it is ridiculous. But that is probably why I love it so much. I was laughing so hard I had to send the link to my wife so she could read it. We both love the British since of humor. When I lived over in Huntingdon, she would come over to visit with her girlfriends and we loved traveling around to see the comedy shows and plays.
While most Americans would see this as a piece of shit story, it is anything but that. It is a story that is so far out there you have to enjoy it for what it is entertainment. I would equate it to the story “Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy.” The warped-ness of the story makes the story.
Thanks for writing it. I will have to read more of your tales.
Keep Writing

I thought I had read all of Briteases stories. I am an American and I love the stuff. Love Denham too. The off beat humor is good. This was quick and fun and I wish you were still writing, you and Dave.
Lots of British authors can tell a good story and definitely this one probably can too but this was not a story it was a mind fart. I do agree with some other commenters that humour seems to exist on a different plane in the USA from GB I personally can understand both although appreciating often takes effort sometimes and I live midway between the coninents! with strong influence from both... I am going to read more Britease.
Well it certainly beats what the Americans call humour which as far as I can tell from some of their crap tv shows just involves a lot of shouting and leaping about like a pathetic moron
Man, just when I was getting into it, boom! Over. You should do a rewrite of a legitimate story. It would be easy; the possibilities are endless.
Nice visualization. I can picture the protagonist as portrayed by Don Knotts and his grandmother by Frances Bauvier. The rest of the story seems to lack direction, however.
I can’t deny that much of British humo(u)r is lost on me. I still watch it. When I do recognize it, I find it can be subtle yet incisive. Exception to that rule being Sacha Baron Cohen, who can only be described as inimitable and fearless. Just the look on his face can cheer me up. I’ve also seen Jimmy Carr.
Anyone declaring American humor to be moronic should watch David Letterman interview Cardi B on Netflix.
Chalk it up to the cultural divide. I don’t expect most Brits to appreciate the nuance of a Dirty Sanchez.
