"This is so sudden, isn't it, Dear?" my mom asked. "Are you sure you're not just doing this to spite Traci? You know she still loves you, Dear?"

"Mom, I'm not trying to spite anyone. And as far as Traci still loving me, well her actions speak for themselves, don't they? Traci loves Traci."

I didn't bother telling my daughter. We had repaired our relationship some, but she was still taking her mother's side, insisting that what Traci had done was heroic, and about love. I figured she would find out sooner or later, and would call me to give me her pitch for her mother over my pick.

After being with Traci for more than 25 years, my developing relationship with Angel made little sense. I couldn't explain our attraction to each other, and how well she seemed to fit into my life. We could talk about anything, and it felt like we had been together forever. I really didn't believe in love at first sight, but everything told me this was right.

Angel wasn't a kid, either, and she seemed every bit as flummoxed by our immediate and deep attraction as I was. We spent a lot of time examining things early on, but then we realized we were sucking the life out of this, and should just let it flow naturally.

Naturally was good. She moved in with me after a month, and it was rare that we were ever apart for the next six months. Mom and Dad seemed to like her, despite the fact that she wasn't Traci, but Kaylee made no secret of her dislike, I'm assuming because she still wanted me to get back together with her mother.

We arranged a small wedding for ourselves for six months later. I invited both children and my parents and Angel invited a cousin and a friend and their families. I had reserved a party room at one of my favorite restaurants for a small celebration.

It was a great day except for when Kaylee cornered me and wanted to know why Traci and Bobbie G weren't invited, nor my former in-laws.

"Because your mother is my ex-wife and inviting her would be disrespectful to Angel. Also, you seem to forget we are not friends. Ex-in-laws don't get invited either."

Angel and Traci finally did meet two years later when Kaylee got married. Traci planned and executed a beautiful event, and I happily paid for everything. Angel, being a beautiful, smart and classy lady, stayed out of the way of the mother of the bride and her planning.

The only part I played in the wedding, besides being financier, was the traditional role of walking the bride down the aisle. My heart was filled with pride, and my internal memory machine was working overtime. Several times I found myself looking at Traci, seeing memories of her and Kaylee doing things like coloring and baking cookies. That reminded me that it hadn't been all bad between us; we had 24 good years.

Angel read me perfectly and put her arm around me while we were in the church pew. I turned to her and she gently put her lips to mine. I knew then that I could handle the rest of the day.

Angel only interacted with Traci when it was necessary during the rehearsal dinner and the wedding, not out of fear, but out of a sense of what was right. For her part, Traci walked around with a pissed off look whenever she looked Angel's way. I found out later she and all six of the grandparents were of the opinion that she was usurping Traci's rightful place and that this marriage was just a short-term thing.

Epilogue: Our short-term marriage just hit the 25-year mark. Angel and I celebrated with a nice dinner and a quiet evening of lovemaking. Sure, it was not the wild and crazy night of sex it might have been 15 years ago, but neither of us are kids anymore. We snuggled together for a while afterward, then we fell asleep spooning.

Reflecting back on it, I really can't complain too much about the way life has treated me. I had a good first marriage for 24 years, then came back and have had a great second marriage for 25 years.

My two kids are married and have given me three beautiful grandchildren.

Traci never remarried. From what my kids have said, I guess not too many men were interested in a middle-aged woman with a young child, even if she was a good-looking woman. She had some hook-ups along the way, they figured, or otherwise she might have killed someone by now.

My kids make sure to stay in touch with both Traci and their half-sister. The child's three sets of grandparents also made sure to give her every ounce of love they had until they started dying of old age.

My son, the only family member who talked to me regularly after my divorce, told me Traci didn't even date for the first five years after I got married, still figuring my marriage wasn't going to last. I'm sure Angel was sorry to disappoint her.

It was striking that the counselors and both sets of parents never acknowledged what Travi deliberately going off the pill showed about her intentions.

I loved the story. My issue is his relationship with his daughter Kaylee should have taken a serious hit - quite possibly disowned her - considering she knew about her mother's infidelity. The MC paying for Kaylee's wedding after what happened?!?! That makes very little sense. In fact I can see him talking to her fiance` and explaining what Kaylee's part was in his marriage's breakup, and I'd seriously question whether or not she could ever be a faithful wife considering her actions. It would take years ( maybe never happen) for the relationship between the MC and Kaylee to get to a decent level - it would NEVER be the same. I also see MC having no relationship with Traci, Kaylee, and of course Bobbi G.

All that linear thinking into pinheaded rationales many authors pretend are a bubble of epiphanies had me worried you were going to have him be the contented cuckold in the end.

Would have been nice if his daughters new husband had caught on to her attitude about nursing services up to and including sex for old boyfriends. It would have added a bit.

Everything I was about to write has been laid down by Anonymus a month prior ("This author seems to have a thing for Asian women..."). The MC's dad also made a valid speach to his son. Would have been better though to have set the MC straight in his youth, give him some markers, tell him to not choose a mate for life on feelings and emotions alone.

I don't understand why in all these stories the guy leaves the house then gets an apartment. Rent is higher for an apartment then what most mortgage payments are.

A good "stick to your guns" story.

Nobody, except maybe Vande1, burns a cheat bitch like Hooked. How the utter hell would a woman think a man would raise her bastard?

Has no one ever seen someone in the terminal stages of cancer?. They're about as far from sexually exciting as you can get. You'd be hard pushed to even want to pity fuck them.

If that guy could get it up and inseminate a woman of an age most need ivf etc to even get close to pregnancy he could have singlehandedly cured himself.

This author seems to have a thing for Asian women coming to rescue poor cucks from eternal post divorce celibacy.

Really though, what kind of clown decides to marry someone a day or two after marrying them.

I guess the same kind of clown that would get back with a girl that blew him off for his best mate. Fair enough that they went to the same uni but American unis have thousands of students, far too many to settle on someone you've already left behind.

As for getting pregnant from some guy that got cancer and done chemo and radiation therapy, not to mention is at late stage terminal, I. E. A month or so from death. The chance of that guy not only having the energy, but also being able to get it up is only eclipsed by the almost impossibility of his sperm still being viable.

He was also a better man than me for not only forgiving his daughter in the face of her failure to apologise but to then walk her down the aisle and pay for the wedding without a proper reconciliation and appropriate begging for forgiveness.

Its almost as if the writer didn't know whether he was going to go for a RAAC or not, and in the end decided on a quick not just to finish the story as quickly as possible.

It felt to me like the whole story aec could have been changed if Bobby would have brought up to details to Traci.

The weeks he was at Gary's place after she had started cheating she was distant towards him and their interactions and sex were awkward. So, basically she treated Bobby as if she was cheating on Gary by being with her husband.

Then during her pregnancy Traci and Kaylee kept sharing little looks and inside jokes right in front of Bobby.

As delusional and self centered as she was maybe it wouldn't have mattered but, maybe he could have shown her how disrespectful she behaved towards him and shown her that he had a clue what was going on while she was so smug in her belief that she had successfully hidden her betrayal.

Not bad. I had a really good comment typed out here and hit something on the keyboard and it disappeared. So to recap, she sucked, the dead guy sucked, his parents sucked and his daughter sucked. I would have done DNA tests on both kids as well as the little bastard and on his mother to see if he really was her kid. She at no time acted like he was. I would have had his dad gender tested because he sure nutted up after the mama shrew took charge. Well written but that was part of why I disliked the characters too much. I know/knew all of them including my/his mother.

ended a little abruptly and there was no realization or apology for the affair/baby by the ex-wife and daughter. I think he should have cut off contact with those two at some point... maybe then they might be forced to revisit their betrayals and have an epiphany.

#1 rule of relationships: Never be alone with someone of the opposite sex besides your spouse. This starts once you start ‘going steady’, and obviously applies to engagements and marriage. It applies even when ‘in public’! You don’t have a meal with someone without others there as well. You don’t go to a movie or any other activity. In short, you don’t have any opposite sex friends, period. Also, your coworkers are NOT your friends! No business lunches unless it’s the entire team. At conferences, always stay in the group.

If people don’t put themselves in a position to get in trouble, then they wouldn’t have problems!
