Cherie gave a soft smile. "Just not 'that way?' I kind of knew this would happen; it's the same choice you made before, but I could dream, couldn't I?" Her smile turned a little wry as she shifted her gaze to me.
"I owe you everything Cherie, we'll always be here for you." I meant that. Without her, my home could have become a tomb.
Kasey and I set Cherie up in a guest room and just held onto each other for a while.
Over the next few days we worked out what we could. Kasey insisted I know what had happened, now that it had come back. It wasn't hard to find the incident. A male dancer killed by a hit and run driver in the road near the club. Cherie managed to get a copy of his arrest record; drugs, repeated battery of a woman. He also had an aggravated rape charge that got dropped after the victim was publicly outed and fled the area. It was pretty obvious what he was planning on doing to Kasey.
Kasey had no way of knowing any of that; she didn't even know she'd hit him. Police always look for the easiest explanation; she'd almost certainly have gone to prison. She might have gotten off if she'd known she was drugged and gotten tested right away, but even that wasn't certain.
Cherie eventually went back home, though she promised to visit from time to time. She and Kasey would be the closest of friends, but forever ex-lovers. Cherie had a tough time reconciling her part in Kasey's hell, unwitting as it was. Eventually, we hope she'll find the princess she's been looking for. She at least started looking again.
I thought of going back and finishing the job on Chris; what he'd done was unspeakable, inhuman, but I decided against it. It wasn't because he'd suffered enough or because I just wanted to let everything go.
I let it go because it was possibly the cruelest thing I could do to him.
His experience broke something. Kasey and I got a call from Michelle. Chris had called her and meekly asked for her help. "Li'l Bitch" it seems, was a hit with a certain twisted demographic who paid very good money to watch his absolute humiliation on video.
We'd accidentally conditioned him. Probably because he associated the Fentanyl high with the humiliation, he'd become more and more obsessed with it. He was quickly to the point where he could only get gratification by watching and re-experiencing his abuse, but he needed fresh videos for his website along with fresh humiliations for himself. They became more and more extreme each time. It didn't take much to see what was happening. Pilots call it a "Graveyard Spiral." He thought he was level, but he was just going in a deadly circle, losing altitude and getting closer and closer to a final, inevitable crash.
The last time I checked, he'd added several new videos to his site with Michelle's help. Some of the titles included Li'l Bitch and the Great BIG Tranny Gangbang, Slap Happy Fun, The BIGGER the BETTER! and Up To The ELBOW. Michelle refused to make the videos, but she showed him how to set up the cameras himself. I think she didn't want to be there at the end.
He'd begged Michelle to get Catwoman and Angry Kitty together for another video. It's his most popular one. Disturbingly, the Teddy Bear one rates a close second; knowing that made me double check the doors at night.
Kasey and Cherie are not interested at all.
Post Production Notes:
The Blackmailed Wife trope is a staple in LW and it has always left me a bit uneasy. I decided to take a good hard look at it and came up with some posits.
1. Whatever the woman is being blackmailed for has to have far worse consequences than what is being demanded. Even if she is discovered cheating it has to be better than the original "sin" coming out. A woman giving in to blackmail for a drunken one night stand, then pulling trains and such makes no sense whatever.
2. There has to be no reasonable way out of the blackmail: coming clean would be devastating on a massive scale. It would have to have consequences for her loved ones. It has to be bad enough that she wouldn't want to confide in anyone for fear of putting them at risk.
3. Blackmail sex is rape. Period. She may pretend to get into it to avoid consequences, but she doesn't enjoy it at all. It's rape, plain and simple, why the hell would anyone enjoy that? She may build emotional callouses, but that's it. It's also rape over an extended period, so there's even more emotional trauma.
I do understand that Cherie gets a raw deal here; every beta reader pointed it out. She had no way of knowing what was going on, and pretty much gave her heart to somebody who loves her back but can't be with her. I can't really blame Kasey either, she absolutely had to hold it together for her kids at least until her husband got home, and clinging to Cherie was part of that. There is love there and just maybe there's a little Stockholm syndrome there too, though that is hardly Cherie's fault. Still, I feel I owe Cherie something, so I'm planning to work out a story for her in the future. Mercenary bisexual computer hacker? Yeah, I can work with that, add in a falsely(?)-accused-of-some-crime-or-other sexy blonde on the run and it practically writes itself.
Kasey is just a normal wife and mother caught up in something she didn't have the skills, money, or resources to make go away.
She did the best she could do. Lions have options, gazelle have escape routes.

Anonymous8 days agoMC took a big chance in buying that ball gag in a town only 100 miles away. I bought mine in Laos and had it shipped around the world seven times, disguised as a racquet ball.
Other parts of the story seemed rather far out and silly, sort of ad libbed.

And if he had video taped it he could have gotten her to do anything that he wanted soon after because Kasey is so fucking pathetic. She was drugged in the club which can be tested for if she was intelligent enough to get tested which she wasn't, and because of the fact she was drugged by a worker there just saying "she'd almost certainly have gone to prison." isn't enough to make her not look like a stupid bitch.
"Oh darn I'm being blackmailed better not be an adult and talk with my partner about this better immediately cave and fuck every one within a 10 mile radius." It's just ridiculous, fucking bitch didn't even try. Like try a little harder, fuck I mean try AT ALL.

Chris deserves what he got but staying with Kasey is the most cucked shit I've seen on this site.
StevenJay28 days agoFair play to the MC for not just blowing up but waiting to find out what happened and in some ways better still that he didn’t get the full story till right at the end.
It did somehow seem wrong that Chris ended up profiting from his “humiliation” and I was a bit surprised that the MC didn’t give him at least one good kick in the balls
TrainerOfBimbos2 months agoI felt like this was a really excellent story. I'm surprised that reactions are so split on it. I agree with you about the entire blackmail concept in these stories, but I think also that it can be covered with the whole "graveyard spiral" concept - slip up once, get blackmailed into it again, then again, etc. Rationally, confessing to the first slip up prevents the blackmail, but a hell of a lot of people aren't rational.

Anyway, like a lot of the others, I'm glad for the reconciliation, but man, I can't imagine it would be easy after seeing all those videos, even knowing the truth logically/intellectually.

avidreader1233 months agoThe abuse of Chris was hard to read. I'm not saying he didn't deserve it, I'm saying I don't want to read it. Regarding Cherie, I kind of wish they could have worked out a throuple thing. Regarding the Bachelorette party or whatever, does that mean all her friends were raped too? Good story, but not my favorite.
rbloch663 months agoI'm happy for the reconciliation. What makes the difference is that all along, she was thinking of her family first. That's a tremendous amount of love, loyalty, and integrity in an otherwise impossible situation. She held true even in the hell of it. I'm glad Carl was man enough to see the scenario for what it was. Too many people are quick the jump on the BTB wagon. Cherie deserves a better ending even if it can't be with Kasey.

Anonymous5 months agoSeeing as she was completely alone, I can see that this level of blackmail coukd trigger caving I to the blackmailer's demands. Her husband was away, her kids were endangered and she had a lot of scary, unknowns coming. Reporting this to the authorities would not clear this up. If anything the kids could end up in foster care. She couldn't handle that. So he sacrificed her fidelity and almost her sanity to go through with it. Finding some comfort in Cherie and maybe a little of Stockholm Syndrome to survive. The fact that Cherie fell in love with Kasey is not Kasey's fault. Not anyone's fault. And Cherie was a good friend but Kasey was never going ot give up her marriage and her live for her husband and family. Period. 5 stars though got crazy. Agree wholeheartedly with author's afterword about misses of blackmail trope in so many LW stories.

Slamnuke6 months agoI disagree with your premise about not telling the spouse. She was drugged at the bachlorette party and didn’t know it, she killed a man who was legit trying to rape her. No court of law would ever convict her.
She should have told her husband immediately, especially if she knew she was drugged. I don’t buy this excuse even in this scenario because she was drugged against her will in the original event.
You would need to update the story to make her legitimately at fault for something that she did of her own accord with full mental faculty and sober. This is the only way this scenario would work where telling the spouse would get her into more trouble. Of course it makes her a sociopath and changes her entire personality but it’s the only situation in which it works.
Her not telling her husband is divorce worthy here. There is not a chance a normal man would ever get over this situation.
inka22226 months agoI generally hate reconciliation LW stories. I rarely even buy the "blackmail" reconciliation stories, in most of them the set up is such that a GOOD wife would rather fess up to the husband than fulfill the demands of blackmailer. I disagree with the author's end notes that "nobody would agree to be blackmailed over drunken ONS" or similar - some people would. BUT those cases make for shitty reasons to reconcile in a story.

However, as usual with this author, he managed to excel where most others failed - once the story got unraveled, I was rooting for reconciliation. The only downside was that I was also rooting for Cherie to join them in a poly triangle (2 sided or 3 sided, whatever works), but the author indicated there's a planned happy end for her, so that'll be enough for me.

All in all, easy 10 stars for an excellent story with unusual plot playing with cliche trope, excellent BTB, empathicablle (is that a word?) characters, and good resolution.

DeanofMean9 months agoHum, I thought it was headed to a trio. This is one of the first blackmail ones that made any damn sense, usually it's "I have video of me feeling you up on the dance floor so if you don't gang bang the student body while I film it at the school he teaches at I'm telling" and like what????? I get the blackmail here, though keeping it from hubby i am torn about, problem is if he had been told what could he have done once he got back? Still not sure how they cleared up the original vehicular vid, maybe for the next one in the series. You create great worlds.
Pappy710 months agoSecond read, still enjoyed the flow and the characterization. But, still had a problem with what he saw on the video and what her explanation was. Maybe believe her and maybe not on the enjoyment part. Picture worth a thousand words years later. "What are you going to believe, me or your lying eyes?" And Cherie would be out of the picture or at least bitch slapped for the in his face "I love your wife and I will take her if you stumble" and the first time the wife professed to still love the bitch but was staying with him for the duration, she would best consider the implications of that. Pretty sure the only reason she stayed away from Cherie was because of guilt and fear her husband would leave her. That threat is gone, hubby caved and forgave so no reason not to dredge up the "love" and since she is so good at hiding stuff she might slip back into the stuff that she "only pretended she liked" wink, wink. Oh, and hubby wasn't any part of that life so he wouldn't be now except as an ATM machine, just like he was then. Sorry Todd, I really like your stuff, usually, but I can't get the distrust out of my mind. Surprised the husband could. Still stand by my five stars for the writing and story development and force of habit on your stories.
