The ending note really rang true for me. It felt like two stories with a younger more naive writer starting and a more polished writer finishing up.
I'm really looking forward to seeing you finish the rest of your works. Boston to Birmingham is one of my favourites
Simply too touching.
I could almost float with the story.
Couldn't put it down.
Finding another story by qhml1 on Lit is like finding a nugget of gold.
Simply stunning writing and shared with us on Lit for free.
Thank you!

It was well worth the wait. I'll be looking forward to reading your future "works in progress.
Very enjoyable reading. 1
This is one of those stories where you sit back, relax and enjoy the reading
......
I am looking forward reading the other stories
You are a ‘must read’
Nothing more need be said. It has your usual beats
This is the type of story I really enjoy, thank you very much and hoping more to come.
As usual a great read! Looking forward to the rest of your tales. Really glad this was a romance and did not go the way of loving wives tale although I do love a good BTB yarn!
Q, you're the best. It's such a treat for us readers when you choose to write for us. Thank you.

Always the best. Prayers and blessings to you and yours. With deep respect. Gramps 52
Wow, a real 'true love' story with a real 'Loving Wife'. As I read this story, I thought that this girl was going to revert to her 'Yankee Side' and hurt the 'Redneck'. BUT she never did...how refreshing. They really, really loved each other. Thank you for a real feel-good story.
You are a brilliant writer and I enjoy all of your work. Thank you for sharing this with us.
This had a little of Harley and Boston to Birmingham in it, which is always a good thing. Thanks for the hard work and posting this wonderful story!
Outstanding for an"abandoned" story. Westies are great dogs. Thanks for writing.
I was going to point out that the "corrupt developers from Jersey" meme is a bit clicheed, but recent events have proven its frequent validity.
In any event, a lovely story and it's great to hear that you plan to tie up a few loose ends in the coming months.
Loved the story. recentlt reread Rocky Racoon and will be looking forward to the sequels
I look forward to enjoying the rest of the stories you're working on.
I felt the feelings of this story, lived a few of them. The tub in the cabin was a great touch, special kind of meaning using one of those (very romantic).
Very interested in seeing the results of your future endeavors, Rocky Raccoon and Boston to Birmingham amazing stories too. I have read them many times.
Thank you
As always, I liked your latest creation, even if it was started in the gone-by. It lacked the tension that you handle so well in most of your other stories, but it was still a good read.
Well done, sir!
This author does quite well conveying emotion. I found myself choked up on more than one occasion while reading this story. I think that is a very difficult thing to do. Great job!
I was surprised at the way redneck was worked. Of course I agree, but it was different.
Q, you have long been one of my favorite here or anywhere, sold with the masterpiece Boston to Birmingham. You continue to deliver amazing stories, always a happy day when a new one posts from you. I understand having a lot of unfinished work sitting around, perhaps I should try to borrow a page from your playbook and do the same? Thank you for sharing your time and wonderful imagination with us. Can't wait to see your next tale.

I enjoy your writing, and am always happy for your new stories.
I liked this one.
Your story here is delightful, an easy read to a well-deserved ending.
I'm almost as excited to read that you are committing to finish other work. If some of the story is already drafted, you'll be able to drop more of it on your appreciative fans even quicker, right? That's something to cheer, too.
Glad to hear you are finishing some series before starting new stuff. Please dont forget The Love Shack pt 2. Love your writing. Keep up the good work.
I don't think you've ever written anything I didn't enjoy. This was a great little read. I am, however really looking forward to the continuing adventures of Rocky Raccoon.
I enjoyed this so much that after reading your biography, I purchased your Amazon book, Kitten!
Looking forward to see whatever you finish next!!!!!!!
Written fairly well too.
Only fly was I had trouble thinking the I was female all the time. Guess I don't make a good woman.
Looking forward to reading (and re-reading) your stories. Thank you.
Great story of love and honesty. And it was great to see the classy act each character showed when faced with conflict. I realize it was a story and you can make it go any way you want, but I'm a sucker for a feel good story.
as I have many of your stories. Thanks for finishing this one and working on the others.
Really liked this story, and am THRILLED you will be finishing the others!!!
As I, like many others, always look forward to reading your stories; I am especially pleased that you are FINALLY going to complete some old classics. If I can help in any way, ie as editor or Beta reader, please let me know. You can contact me through Lit.
You DO tie them in a bow!
Love your work!
Thank you!
This is once again a typically beautiful story, well thought out and complete. Slot of stories in here are depressing or just flat put annoying but most of yours are well thought out and hopeful. Thankyou for you efforts. 5 stars

Qhml1 comment might be taken as implying that s/he isn't sure of the value of voting as against commenting. I would respectfully suggest that voting is likely the easiest way to increase readership of what you have yourself have read and enjoyed, and is thus an important service.
Most times as soon as I post comments I realize I forgot something
Not this time as my total I'd title
Keep writing stories like this
I thought that Summer by the Lake was ad good as it gets, then here you go and write an even better tale here. This could easily be a full blown romance on Amazon or in print or both. You're an incredibly talented writer, my friend. Thank you.
Thank you for all the hours you've spent for our enjoyment !!!
I was expecting a longer chase, but the pacing was just right. As a former New Yorker, I found your characterization of Yankees and Rednecks to be...... spot on! How did a Jersey weasel ever get elected? The 10 year rule is unwritten law and 20 years is used in some places. Also, your depiction of farmers was well done and accurate: a difficult mix of science and high art with a large dose of economics. In all, an excellent read from one of my favorite authors.
On the Eastern Shore of Virginia no matter where you come from North or South even Virginia you are a frigging "Old Come Here". I'm not sure when you become a native if ever.
Q stays on the sunny side of the street.
Love your stories!
If I may make a suggestion to your always great stories. I think a good love story always needs a snake in the grass to insure there’s some drama. Maybe consider that aspect. All Eric needed in this story was a halo and the ability to walk on water and Susan was more than perfection. They needed a few flaws to make them real people. 5*
Keep on keeping on. 5 as always and thanks for the great reads.

Good read, well thought out story and storyline. Well done characters. I really was happy about the last paragraph finishing some of your older stories- Please do. I am sure it will be difficult writing for you but as a avid reader you have my sincere best wishes for your efforts to finish many stories. I have checked many time for more on Rocky Raccon.
Please keep writing and I will keep reading.
I missed this one...saw it listed and read it immediately. As usual, 5+. I have read all your stories and novels (several times) & look forward to the new stuff. Thanks for sharing...another great one!
things.
One, I like the background of your stories, the protagonists here are a bit too perfect but the story is well done and much appreciated.
On a site where so many authors come and go, it is great to see one still posting after all these years (to riff on a S&G title)
My favorite of yours is A Summer By the Lake. There is something to me about a story that kids feature in that make it better and more believable. And BB's wit is adorable.
And lastly, thank you for writing in the Romance category. A focus on personalities and how a relationship evolves in all room of the house/office/land is much appreciated.
I liked the way you spun little conflicts that kept the plot going until the major turn at the climax. Only one criticism from a career editor, the word is "defuse," not "diffuse," which means something else entirely.
And not one negative, now it's seventy five. Romance stories don't get much better than this.
The only parts that bothered me was having to put Jack down and coming to the end for Jackie. Not because it wasn't written well but because it Was written so well. I've had to do it numerous times, putting pets down, they become family and that's the feeling of loss. After the last one I lost it took me months to stop looking out where she used to lay in the sun, expecting to see her sleeping and to stop listening for her happy sounds when she came bounding up the stairs.
"Defecation definitely made contact with rotating oscillators." I worked for several years with a couple of former Marines, we worked nights sitting in front of banks of government computers just waiting for things to go wrong. On slow nights it gave us time to joke and tell stories. One night I asked them if they knew what shit sounded like when it hit the fan. When I gave them the answer they both puffed up like a couple of bull frogs before they exploded in laughter, answer being "MARIIINE!" Signed: BTW
Relaxing, fun story. Not too much BTB. I love how she was exiled to remote Alaska!!!
I really loved this story. Well written, flowed well and just an enjoyable read. I'm adding the story to my list I email to good friends. I like to share the best with close friends. 5 stars, no question. Thanks for sharing it!
Beautiful tale from start to finish! I kept waiting for the shoe to fall but it never did, thank God. 10*s!
I always enjoy a story about a REAL Loving Wife...True Love.
And this was it. You have so many really great stories about True Love that I would have trouble picking only one as a favorite. Thank You for your writing and for giving us such romantic and entertaining and endearing stories.
Great story. Maybe not as good as Boston to Birmingham, but still a great read. My only criticism is that I thought it was slow in the beginning. Almost quit. Glad I stayed with it. 5*
“ She was flawlessly groomed, with a red sweater and red bows on her ears. She even had her toenails painted red.”
I was hoping you were describing his main squeeze then realized it was the pooch!!
MY GOD MAN!! THE HUMANITY OF IT ALL. A sweater on a Dog Geeez Wizzz!!
It was such a fun story you are forgiven......this time! Don’t let it happen again
Stay safe wear a MASK
Cheers Phil
This is one of my favorite stories and the author is really talented! I have read most of his writings and will reread some of my favorites again! Please keep writing!
Baton Rouge Cajun Guy (Please no more hurricanes for Louisiana and Gulf Coast!)
Another great story. Loved it, especially the beginning calling him a redneck. 5 stars.
Thanks for another good story where doing the right thing is always the right thing.
Keep writing!
As a nice change( for loving wives) the depressing part of the story did not involve husband/wife issues except as deep background
I lived in Alabama for many years, in Bama the northerners come down are Yankees. After ten years they are Damn Yankees - the ones too dumb to leave! They mostly say it with humor.
Great read. Unfortunately there are only 5 stars. If more were available I would give more. Thank you for a very good story.
Fantastic. Stor. 5 stars is no/ enough. I have read it a few ti~es and it just gets better

Five star 🌠🌟🌠🌟🌠🌟🌠🌟🌠🌟 ratings and reviews are definitely not fair for this story. Once again thank you for your lovely, beautiful and romantic love story.

Another excellent story! Such a thoroughly great read! Thank-you for your writing talent!
I enjoy every one of your stories, primarily because they are truly stories and not just wrapping for sex. My writing is largely motions : succinct, limited and dry. That said you still influence my thinking as I construct the message, and so Thank you for a model to emulate.
Really good story. I have one small mineralogical issue. Ruby and emerald do not occur in the same formation. If you ever want to use this plot device again (unlikely), make it ruby and sapphire.
