An interesting 5* story. That has played out in real life, too.

This was a really interesting look at things, I didn't not see the twist, well done!

What a turnaround.

And he can rightfully say that his brother is always with him...in a kind of morbid way.

What a unique twist of events. It's amazing what a little science and modern medicine are able to decipher. So happens that in this instance, all are relieved knowing that there was no affair, and also knowing that in the future similar outcomes could possibly happen.

Thanks to the doctor and the hospital staff.

cute story. Not sure about the scientific validity, but good anyway

Very interesting story, enjoyed the bizarre twist at the end.

Regguy69Regguy698 months ago

Interesting. I have no idea if the science is true, but it made for a great twist in your story. Can you imagine the horror the wife felt when everyone thought she cheated and was about to lose her husband? The MC is lucky the Doc was savvy enough to know there was another possible explanation.

t8ntliklyt8ntlikly8 months ago

Had to look that one up. Sheesh! didn't know such a thing was possible. Good story

Deprived891Deprived8918 months ago

What is the chimera syndrome in humans?

Chimerism occurs when a woman is pregnant with twins and one embryo dies, and the other embryo absorbs the twin's cells.

I had to look it up myself.

What famous person has chimerism?

This Woman Is Her Own Twin:

The woman, singer Taylor Muhl, has a condition called chimerism, meaning she has two sets of DNA, each with the genetic code to make a separate person

OOAAOOAA8 months ago

Very good story! Really original and amazing funny last sentence!

Congratulations and 5 stars from here!

techreadertechreader8 months ago

Chimerism isn't really that rare, but DNA testing is revealing it slowly. A woman was once accused to kidnapping, because her child wasn't "her" child, but her (dead and absorbed) "fraternal twin" sister. One of her ovaries was "hers" and the other came from her "sister".

In cats especially, chimerism is relatively common. Ever seen a cat with two different eye colors? Or a person with two different eye colors? Chimerism.

A really neat story. Who knows what else DNA can tell us?

bobareenobobareeno8 months ago

Short and sweet.

WhackdoodleWhackdoodle8 months ago

an interesting story that was completely unbelievable. DNA testing takes longer than a week and a doctor that makes house calls?

When the fuck would that happen?

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

Interesting play on DNA. Love to see someone work sesquizygotic twins into a story.

I'm a geneticist, and my hat's off to you. This is one of the few stories on here that gets the blood types and DNA stuff and the percentages absolutely right. Even correctly pointing out that he wouldn't be a 25% match with a nephew fathered by a potential half-brother.

And what happens in this story (the chimerism) is actually something that can really happen, though extremely rare.

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

Another highly irrealistic one-sided tale, with a wimp whining husband and a smart and strong wife.

MightyHornyMightyHorny8 months ago

Kinda saw the twist coming... still nicely done, though.

Based on your pen name, I'd wondered when you might write something about this. Well done.

And yes, I am a biologist. I can even define a woman, unlike that idiot SCOTUS judge KBJ. Of course, my parents could also have defined a woman, and notably they weren't biologists.

WTF! This is weird

Interesting. I have no idea if this was at all possible so would just accept at face value. I had wondered if his own father had been included in the testing, not just his brothers. But, all I can say is... well done for an interesting story. Cheers.

Well- written and I liked it.

Even if I do think the plot is BS not really happening.

This is fiction though.

But thanks chymera

Original! No idea if there is any real science behind the explanation, but it made for a good story!

ImNotanAnonImNotanAnon8 months ago

That is is no way how science works, so swing and a miss, Webster.

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

To all of the doubters, yes, that is actual science. The first I heard of it was when it was used as the plot in Season 4, Episode 23 of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. It has stuck with me and, in fact, is a major plot point in a (non-erotic, not for Literotica) story that I'm writing. I had to laugh because, besides that, I also have a story in the works that revolves around a hospital mix-up switching kids and a DNA test later in life leading to a false belief that his wife had cheated on him.

Get out of my head and stop stealing my story ideas, Chymera! ;-)

sbrooks103xsbrooks103x8 months ago

From the title, I thought there was going to be a real brother who died, and somehow possessed him when he impregnated his wife.

Chimera and Vanishing Twin syndrome are medically documented.

Great writing.

Fans of this story should read " Redhead" by Laptop Writer. Another great story.

laptopwriterlaptopwriter8 months ago

Okay, I had to look this up before scoring the story. My question was not if a chimera was possible, I was sure it was, but whether it could contain two different blood types at the same time. It can! For the research this author did to get this right, he deserves a 5. The writing was decent as well. 5 from me. Thanks for a clever and well-researched story.

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

Interesting premise.

Now THAT was different and very creative !

I don't think I've read a story here that had this type of surprise, except for a story from Vandemonium (I think) that had a somewhat similar answer to a parentage question.

Very well done - 5 stars and a follow !

So he gets to raise his nephew, not his son. I guess the dead twin got the last laugh as his sperm won. I wonder if he ever gets a son. Maybe go for invitro next time to be sure.

DNA doesn’t lie, but it doesn’t always tell the whole story. Good job!

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

Wow... will there be a pop quizz with this story?

.

Great story, and as 'Hapless stated, it's cool to learn something.

.

I'll bet "the usual suspects" reading in LW will call MC a cuck because... well, it was from inside his own body, so in their minds, he "let it happen." Any wagers?

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

And the next thing y'know, you're yer own grandpa.

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

So, the babies father is the babies uncle.

Very nice!

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

You initial premise is wrong. Two type As can produce an O baby, as can two Bs, and a combination of A and B parents, as well as any combination of the above with an O parent. Bottom line — “O” is fluid and flexible, genetically speaking.

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

Neat!

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

Anonymous on 9/7 who said “You initial premise is wrong. Two type As can produce an O baby, as can two Bs, and a combination of A and B parents, as well as any combination of the above with an O parent. Bottom line — “O” is fluid and flexible, genetically speaking.”

The parents here are type O and the kid is type A, which can’t happen without some rare mutation going on.

If you going to criticize then get the basic facts right.

When the ghost brother is the father the blood type problem is not solved. Both brothers, the existing and the disappeared) must have type O.

How excited Belinda will be now, because now every time she fucks with her husband, she will imagine that she is having sex in a threesome, and even with twin brothers, wondering which of them she will get pregnant this time.

What an original story line! 5 *s

AnonymousAnonymous8 months ago

I’m not completely read up on how chimeraism biology and inheritance works but I would seriously consider never having a children if I all I could pass on was my brothers dna.

SplitGeode66SplitGeode668 months ago

I liked this story, based on tral science . The only problem was the doctor's explanation of the inheritance of blood types, which was wrong. The brother inherited the dominant A allele from his mother, and the MC inherited the recessive O allele from his mother. Both inherited the recessive O allele from their father. 5 stars!

AnonymousAnonymous7 months ago

DNA matching for a paternal uncle is not 25%. Sigh. Do some research about DNA matching. The similarities are.much higher than 25 or 50% but instead they give confidence estimates aside on known baselines. Heck humans to chimps are 98.8% similar at genetic level. What is being discussed her is an exact match. You get 50% of genetic material from each parent and have a 50% of same DNA compared to siblings. But the similarity values are way higher. Hence the need for probabilities of whether a parent or siblings or cousin, etc.
