The one area jack is clearly lacking is an understanding of spys and non-battlefield intelligence. Twitch if he is good at his job would have known a long time ago of jack’s allegiance and situation. He would either be in jack’s camp advising him, or in bancrofts alerting him. Since bancroft was clueless, it appears twitch has an allegiance to someone else. This is surprising because this is a person that bancroft should have handpicked or now transfer to jack’s ship.

In this kind of high stakes intrigue, twitch would play a key role.

Hi Just one observation , you often use the phrase make due instead of Make do. Its here in this chapter also... Might want to correct that if it is indeed not what you want.

15 knots is a little over 17 mph. No motorized Yacht big enough to haul 100+ soldiers and crew is going to take five days to do 100 miles. Grab any floating scrap metal to float? Story is a good read but, ouch, it hurts my brain sometimes.
