When will you have your own discord server? Can you write an alternate ending Bancroft is the ultimate winner?

TheSecretBunnyTheSecretBunnyalmost 2 years ago
A good end

I have followed along since the start, and have been quite frustrated at times.

But I have also laughed and felt sadness over certain characters, there were times I wondered where this story was going. But it held together and you never left any loose threads, ok some characters that I wanted punished are still out there.

But they are minor and in my head canon they will get their comeuppance, now author take some time and bask in a well completed task..

I commend you for sticking with it to the end of the story. There was way too much time involved to leave it unfinished. I enjoyed the story from beginning to end and want to thank you for sharing your imagination and hard work with us.

Thank you so much, I only found this story recently and read through to part one, so my timing was great! Overall I loved the story, enjoyed the mix of technology, the story really had everything. I think my one regret about it was you didn't feel invested in the relationship between Bancroft and Jack.... Thinking of something like RDR2 the power the way the relationship is developed is the fact that clearly early on Arthur and Dutch are close and you feel that. With this story you are kind of telling it slightly later in that relationship curve.

A fine ending to and epic tale of adventure. As you are reminiscing about how you told your story and how it developed, I want to assure you that it was a riveting tale and one I thoroughly enjoyed. One thing that I was expecting throughout the ending sequences of war was the re-appearance of the Sword, somehow with it not being allowed to re-appear to assist Jack at his capture and near death, it seemed somehow a lost opportunity to tie it into the ending. Overall, a great tale, well told and very much enjoyed. Thank you and all the best, looking forward to your future submissions. /A

Admittedly I did not rare every chapter of this story as I should have. Nor did I put comments along the way until today.

For my shortcomings I apologize and beg forgiveness.

Far and away this is the best story I have read on Lit.

Thank you for sharing it with us (me).

Epic.

Yes.

And I greatly appreciated your diligence in following through at what must have been an intense pace for you.

And slow for me waiting impatiently for the next installment.

It's your story and one to be proud of.

Mistakes?

Meh!

Thank you.

Cheers.

This has been a great story. Great development and character building. You have done a great job of it in this story and you told a great tale. Well done. You need to put this together and sell on on Amazon in two to three separate books. For Sci Fiction/ Alternate Reality fans, it would sell great

What an amazing tale of fantasy and adventure. Very well conceived and written. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts with all of us.

1 million words in about 800 days (without much time off) equals about 1,175 words per day.

EPIC EFFORT

I appreciate your honest sharing of your thoughts at the end of this EPIC story. What growth and maturity you show with putting that all out there for us to better understand you as a writer and creator. I can not even imagine writing that many words per day (although it seems very underestimated by me with life creating days with no writing at all) so you have a major achievement here, in my opinion.

Thank you for sharing your creative mind with us.

I'm sad to get to the end of FV but I know that you've got something new lined up and are excited about it and are looking forward to it. You have, in my opinion, risen into the top of the writers on Lit. What I appreciate about writers just as much as a good story is dependability meaning you won't drop your readers for greed like some other so called top writers do.

I'm happy the way FV turned out and if you lost some readers then to bad but I think you gained a lot more than you lost by staying with your story line. I can just believe your next two stories will be as good or better than FV, I especially want your space story to be the best and most epic of all space stories on Lit

I have three Lit and two Wattpad writers as my top writers and cannot say which one is nr 1 or 5, you're all good.

In no particular order:

Literotica writers

Looking forward to the next new story while I'm enjoying MFG.

Wow!! Absolutely brilliant!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the wonderful entertainment your series has provided me with all through. I have been reading or from the beginning and it has been a riveting journey. The pace you have managed to keep, only a handful have managed.

Thank you great story. And you didn't have to many tropes. Might have felt that way writting all them, though haha. Yet I am a naval battles guy. So double thank you for the Naval stuff

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 2 years ago

The character development effort you provided was essential to establishing depth and continuity to the story. It must have been exhausting. It was a joy to read. Thank you.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 2 years ago

Incredible series.... thank you.... I know you are critical of some of the work but as someone who regularly browses the sci fi fantasy literotica page even early on I could quickly identify this piece as a top tier work on the site. Although your right and the mixing of tropes did make the story somewhat chaotic, I loved every minute of it. The naval battles were incredible, the hint of prophecy and magic was intruiging and the chaos made it seem believable somehow... I have been waiting to read some of your other works till this finished and i cant wait to keep following you as you continue to write!

Thank You

Thank you for a wonderful story. I'm sad it has ended. You brought to life many characters that I will miss. Thank you for not quitting. That is one thing I really hate. Get invested in a story and then have it disappear. I don't get mad. I just miss the story but I understand the writers on Literorica don't get paid and there is this thing called life that can get In the way.

I look forward to your next creation.

Again thank you for taking the time out of your life to gift us with this wonderful story.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 2 years ago

Thanks for taking on the creation of this epic. I have been with you since the first chapter and although I agree with you that as a reader it was not clear in the early chapters where you were headed with the plot, your storytelling and excellent writing skills kept me engaged from start to finish. And thanks for sticking it out to the end. I have seen several excellent incipient stories here run along at full steam for fifteen chapters then vanish with no hint at what the ending could have been. Deadly to readers who have invested in a serialized story only to have it vanish. Highest kudos for this tale. You are gifted and can count me as a fan. Do the sci-fi next....Please?

TheDandyTheDandyalmost 2 years ago

This has been a "binge read" that held my interest from start to finish. I did wonder, though, why the West didn't reverse engineer the engine technologies of the Javan ships. That would have certainly made for some interesting scenarios, although, in the end, it was the skill rather than the tech that proved superior in battle.

One other thought I had about the capabilities in the West and that was the "stealth" of the first group encountered on Jack's first visit. Perhaps, though, that was just too proprietary to be "cloned" for use elsewhere.

The interaction and relationship development of Brian and Arnold was absolutely wonderful! That one was definitely a golden thread in the story. It's such a shame that one of them had to be lost to, of all things, sepsis. Yet, the emotional impact of such an outcome was heart warming and emphasized that no matter how a relationship starts out, there is aways avenues that can change it all around and make it a good thing.

You should never stop writing, CJ, as you have an obviously natural talent for story-telling that reaches into the mind and soul of your readers. Thank you so very much for your fine quality efforts...no matter how long it took you to get there!!

Great story..

KrittaKrittaalmost 2 years ago

I loved the story, and the afterward was excellent. If I were to criticize, I'd say that if you cut the word count by half. It would still be unnecessary bulky. As a direct response to something in the afterward, I'd agree that Jack was a complete moron early on. In fact, several characters meant to show growth start off as idiots. The change doesn't have to be in-your-face dramatic to be recognized as profound.

I can't emphasize the word count enough though. The readers can put 2 and 2 together, and at some point it becomes a plodding bludgeoning with the details of the interactions.

Anyway, I read to the end despite the seriously excessive wordiness, so that tells you the story was very good and you are doing a lot of things gs really well.

Thank you kindly for the epic story, and best wishes on your future endeavors.

bhojobhojoalmost 2 years ago

Actually the mixture of tropes from nuclear warships to magic swords and mystical half-fae ( lishkerra) gives the story a unique charm. Of course the lishkerrans could be genetically engineerred humans with satellites and active camoflauge also. In a way the names like java etc point to a world that is colder than current where only the equatorial band is still habitable.. kind of a post nuclear winter so places like occitania and ruthenia are in indo china /india and the west is probably europe or the middle east ?

I throughly enjoyed it. I could not put it down. I accepted your statement about not being familiar with ships and it allowed me to accept what you wrote. Early on I was surprised radar was not being used. Once again, great effort on your part and a wonderful read!

Thank you for all the time and hard work that went into a entertaining story.

AnonymousAnonymousalmost 2 years ago

Thank you! Great story and characters...

It didn't spoil the enjoyment and was probably necessary to maintain the drama but one thing that I did find slightly frustrating was Jack and Dustin's blindness to the potential of their air superiority once they'd invented the aircraft carrier - they could have just flown repeated long range bombing sorties to degrade the enemy fleet without risking their own ships...

But fantastic work overall and thank you so much for sharing for free. Will watch out for the next epic!

Wow!

That was a truly epic tale! I really loved it, from the world building to the characters, from the plot to the sex scenes. It could easily be adapted to Netflix or such, even without bleaching the underpants (censoring the sex) of the whole series!

About the only regret that I would have is that we didn't see the dragons that were foreshadowed at the beginning. I'll chalk it up to be an overinterpretation of Carinthian planes by the less advanced civilizations, I guess!

One other necessary weasel that I may have a bone to pick with is that everyone spoke the same language. With so many cultures around, and a separation across multiple islands and an ocean, that weights a bit on suspension of disbelief. It's absolutely not damning, and I'm not sure adding translation mistakes or a sidequest to learn the languages would have added anything to the story, but that's almost the only other thing I can complain about this masterpiece (I also think that Jack was really gung-ho for a lot of the story, going on missions below his pay grade, but he's a main character and pretty awesome, so I actually enjoyed following him).

What I loved the most were the different cultures, and the way they molded the characters of the secondary cast. I also liked their names, and, being Occitanian myself, felt pretty hyped at seeing my part of France (or it's otherworld counterpart) as the first act villain!

Each character felt well defined, alive with their own motives, and even the villains had some flesh and bone to them. For example, I am grateful for Clark's ultimate fate, as I had been pitying the downtrodden deputy for some time. Similarly, Aedan was a royal pain in the ass to deal with, but I'm glad he was there narratively to provide some counterweight to Jack's power. They felt like real people.

I cried a lot reading that story, as many sad tears as happy or bittersweet ones, you really know how to tell emotionally engaging tales with likeable or hateable characters.

I actually went into Fourth Vector after reading some of your other work, and I can say you always had the talent that drew me here, so I hope I can read a lot more of your stories!

Best regards,

Cortavar

Thank you for all the time and effort you put in so we could read a wonderful story for free.

I expect to be attacked by the anti spelling/grammar nazis for this, but in an effort to help you improve your writing ability I would suggest one simple thing.

Your great story that could have been greatly improved by having it proof read properly.

There were just so many simple and very obvious spelling mistakes, or wrong words populated by autofill or whatever, that I found they interrupted the flow of the story. Many times I had to stop reading coz something didn't make sense, reread the passage and then try and guess what was actually meant.

MrBrown13MrBrown1312 months ago

Thank you for the story, it had a great premise and story that kept me reading it to see if I was right on my thoughts, which for the most part I was. There were a couple surprises that I the author kept, specifically Clarke being the one to pull the trigger, but most of the rest fairly easy. But it was still interesting enough to finish.

I know there have been many complaints and the author answers most of those in his post script, except for 1 question I have how big is this planet? the travel times of months with naval vessels makes me think this is a Earth the size of Jupiter of something.

The other major issue I had is the author has a very heavy handed writing style that really lays everything in your lap and spoon feeds it to you. But also repeatedly bringing it back up. But as I thought about it I realized why. He did not write this as a book, but as 50 or more sequels to a book. Meaning I do not need to be reminded again about how when Jack met Abagail she let Jack think Wainwright was a man for the 1000th time it seems. It was just alot of that kind of stuff that you can tell it was written as individual releases and in the next chapter he is reminding of you again or I almost felt like he was trying to explain it to someone only reading the chapter he had posted without reading the ones before it.

Lastly I am going to go check his next one the Greek one I just hope he has grown his writing prowess. Or make the wife do the editing, but even just in the last chapter when Abagail introduced Jack as King and husband and her family's "jaws hit the floor" (I heard that one many times also), to only learn a couple seconds later that the family had already heard about Jack being a king and assumed the rest with Abagail being back. Then WHY were they all so shocked? it's the little inconsistencies throughout that get annoying. But I think I get that from reading all 50 chapters straight thru. Where as other people read chapter 50 almost 2 years after 1.

After rereading your post script . Even though I made a brief comment 11 months ago . I see you won a contest . Congrats . Well deserved . I can't imagine your inner turmoil and apprehensions or parts where you say the story faltered . Or even where you weren't sure where the story was going . None of that showed in the storyline . Not with your epic 10 to 20 plus page chapters everytime . You blended the " too many tropes " so well . It was fascinating . Part of what makes this such an epic tale . Those literary burdens and teaching moments for you were skillfully recited by your gifts with words . All the way through . So captivating . And thoroughly unique otherworlds . Not matched by other authors . Glad you republished Ch. 50 . So I take this chance to thank you again . To be able to enjoy your works . Has been profound . Keep it up man .

Do those Fifthies really have 4 arms? And the women have 4 breasts ? probably just an old wives tale . Lol .

For the last week I have spent ever spare moment reading this series. Rough estimate of word count was somewhere around 1.5 million words. I admittedly skipped SOME chunks because it just felt like a lot and I was getting confused with all the branches (at one point it felt like I was jumping between Tyrolese’s, Bancroft, Charles, and gif the forces in the west all within a page or two). But honestly it was an amazing book and I liked how simple then end of the war was. Not crazed storyline, no protracted “bad guy gives a 2 hour speech about his plans before he dies” sort of cliches. All in all one of my favorite series on this site
