I read a comment that mentioned a woman who had not had sex in seven years since being raped and cut with a knife had no reason to be on birth control pills. I have a 15-year-old niece on birth control pills and she hasn't begun to date yet.

So glad I found this story, very rewarding and heartwarming. It's not just a love story, it's almost a mystery story because we don't know why Sarah is so set against her and Jeff having a relationship. I imagined several different reasons but never came close to the real reason. Loved how at the end Jeff was so careful with Sarah when they tried to work through her fobia.

One thing that jumped out at me was then the Doctor came into Jeff's hospital room he used the door knob. Hospitals do not use twist knobs, only push/pull latches. This type iis required to facilitate moving in and out of patient rooms with only using a hip or elbow when pushing carts or beds. Other than that, very well done. Thanks

Hi, this is my first time commenting, and i have to say that this story deserves it. My best friend went through a similar situation (minus the scars), and I was molested for about 4 years of my life, the things that happened to us is what brought us together, and reading this story reminds me a lot of me and her (minus the sex, and hospitalization). This story has really touched my heart, and i can not thank you enough for putting it into words.

It's wonderful if only to read that such a person exists who is able to view someone's inner beauty and not just be superficial. Well written....though I wish you had written a bit more of Paige meeting them the next morning and Jeff's conversation with Stephen....it would have been more deep and beautiful. I would put this within the top 20-25 stories I’ve read here on Literotica (and I’ve probably read 700-800... remember, there are literally tens of thousands of stories here).

As someone said, this would make a great screenplay. A small independent movie with Ryan Reynolds as Jeff, (and since this is a “dream team” of actors time is independant) a younger Tina Fey (who does have a scar and is yet beautiful) or Helen Hunt as Sarah, and a very young Meg Ryan (Top Gun era) as Paige. I guess if Meg Ryan is Paige it’d make more sense for Helen Hunt to be Sarah as they could be sisters.

And this JC person; doesn’t he/she understand PTSD? Hell, ex-GIs still suffer from it 50 years later (my dad said it took 10 years before an unexpected bang didn’t make him want to dive for cover. A backfire is not the first thing he thinks of, but incoming rounds. And he was almost alway “behind the wire”. The guys that were in the field...). Imagine being sexually assaulted, then cut up, then having a reminder EVERYTIME she looked into a mirror, and everytime she noticed someone flinch or stare. What a dork.

Also, about surgery. Didn’t JC catch that Sarah stopped surgerys when she thought they would financially strap the family? And by the time she got a “good job”, and might be able to afford them herself, she’d had the scar for 5 or 6 years. It had become a part of her. A part that hurt, but a part of her inner being (physically and psychologically). Again, what a dork.

My sister reacted very much the same way... she no longer trusted men.. painted them all with the brush that only should have been for the guy who kidnapped and repeatedly raped her. She was lucky that he'd kept her blindfolded so she never knew where she was or what he looked like. That's all I needed to hear. He''ll never rape anyone again. He was found two days later with multiple broken bones and his skull caved in by an unidentified blunt object. He wasn't breathing so they eventually buried him. (They questioned the hell out of the family of the girl whose rape attempt had been prevented)

We lived over six hundred miles away. My sister honestly knew nothing about any of what had happened so, when she was eventually questioned, she looked like she didn't know what the fuck they were talking about or why they'd be talking to her.

Damned if I know why they never asked to talk to me. ME??? I was woodchuck hunting with one of my work buddies, that weekend. (I was covering for HIM cheating on his nasty bitch wife so he'd agreed to verify my story to keep from being taken to the cleaners in a 'for damned certain' divorce. {he knew where I was really going and why}... The best part is that he ended up finding out that SHE was cheating. I got him rock solid photo and video proof and he's divorcing HER ass.)

As for this story, "Hero's Reward", I gave it 4 stars. Good but not Great.

It's a short story so I do understand the unrealistic rush to sex which turns me off a bit. BUT the sex scene is about her and her possible feelings. It was done by a master of writing. I read every word. It wasn't a sexual turn on for the public, it was about her. Every reader and me wanted her to be free of her torment, to love and be loved. So well done. Thank You Author,

This is actually a story with characters that have some depth too them, not just a sex romp.

Maybe it’s because I am a Romantic at heart or because this story is so poignant that I wish I could have given it more stars. The entire story from beginning to end takes you on a journey that you enjoy like a roller coaster. I think that there is a Higher Power, whatever you perceive Him or Her to be, at work here. With stop starts they eventually come together like it supposed to happen in a Romantic Novel. Thanks for sharing this with us. I, Anthony Wilson, started reading this story on Boxing Day and have just finished it now 27 12 2017 here in Pretoria, South Africa. Will be reading some of you other stories if there are any!

In addition to five (5) stars, I had to favorite this story.

I am one of those who is a stickler for grammar, spelling, and punctuation. However, in this story, there was such magic and energy that the minor errors blended in with Jeff, as if he was actually narrating the tale of how he came to know and love Sarah.

This story could be edited just a little and would be ready for publishing as a screen-play, perhaps. I can see an excellent romance.

Interestingly, I identified with Jeff. My wife of 40 years had a similar experience about five years before she met me. She still has trouble with intimacy, but I learned how to get her to release her defenses for me, though she is still very cautious of others. She is passionate and loving, but she needs to be reminded from time to time how much she is loved. Sarah had a physical scar, but many times, the scars that matter are not just the visible ones.

This was an amazing story that bears reading again and again. It was apparent that the author loved it, loved the characters, and took good care of all of them.

And as a side-note, I fell in love with both Paige and Jeff's sister, too. They are important elements of the tale. Thank you.

Just a suggestion JC. Try reading this story again. I don't think the scar is as shallow an issue as first it may seem. At the very least no young woman to wants almost the first thing her prospective partner learns about her to be that she has been brutally and savagely raped.

You are a writer, imagine what those feelings are for her. Then imagine that every day you wake up and look in the mirror you are reminded once again of that horrific moment in your life. With no external scar she could, perhaps, to an extent, hide from those feelings, perhaps even for a brief moment in time feel like she has forgotten.

But what would it be like to be faced with people looking and staring, kids asking. How could there be any sense of trust or love with all those feelings, self recriminations, self loathings, being thrown in some way or another back at her every day. She chose not to finish surgery to "Fix" her appearance, but rape is a vicious animal in and of itself. It twists the mind and the way we see ourselves. At the least she may have felt inside she deserved the continuing pain it caused.

I have no doubt it would be much more than just a scar to her. I don't believe the scar it self was the point. The fact that Sarah couldn't hide from it or hide it from anyone else seems more the point. No where she could feel safe to just "Be".

Story turns me all mushy, as a Kenpo instructor I had fun with the fight portion, but it played well with the story. Well done, looking forward to my third read.

i got really pissed off when i found out the entire topic they were dancing around was some sort of physical disfigurement rather than the sexual one. It makes the entir ething incredibly shallow. Oh how bad it is to be me because i have a scar on ym face and that's why i cant be with you... WHAT?

The hwole story was building to be deep meaningful, looking beyond the surface and the entire supporting cast fell into that category like a puzzle piece. so neat and with a perfect smile to boot. It just really disappointed me. The story hada great build and then shti.
