once again you nailed it girly. Why does this story resonate with me so? I sighed at the end, not wanting it to end. You should seriously consider self publication, a limited edition. Put me down for half dozen books, I have some older friends who would love this whole story.
You did surprise me in the first paragraph, Pixie. At the end of the last chapter my immediate thought was that Mama would wash her hands of the whole affair but she did turn up. However, later on it became obvious: it was all about her and her showing as the 'professional widow'. I wonder what Lord Howard's reaction will be when (and if) the scales fall from his eyes. I'm constantly intrigued by these 'modern' stories of yours because often they have such a ring of truth about them. Faction? It matters not, I suppose, as long as they continue to entertain. As always, Pixie, very well done.
well written and interesting, though not nearly erotic enough. But I read it nonetheless with pleasure.
Life is complicated ...
But then we make it even more complicated, trying to live by rules imposed by others.
The concept of marriage out of romantic love has indeed emerged in the 19th century. Before that, the approach to marital life was different. The biblical forefathers often had several wives. Nobles and royals throughout history had extramarital lovers of both sexes.
In modern times, the only rules committed partners have to follow is the golden rule of mutual consent, honesty and trust.
Would Cris mind if his bisexual wife had a lesbian lover? I doubt it. Many men would actually encourage it, and it would surely spice up a marriage.
As for Emma's situation, I can understand the potential conflict of interest in a teacher/student love affair, but self-imposed celibacy because of being spiritually married to Christ? Martin Luther disposed of that nonsense 500 years ago, married a nun and recommended that everybody have sex at least twice per week. (I just had to make that comment, since it's Reformation Day this Sunday.)
Powerful institutions like churches are of course aware of the power of sex. Those who make the rules about sex hold the power. Therefore people have to get creative to reclaim their power, find loopholes in that intricate fabric of rules, such as Garfunkel and Oates did with anal sex.
But where does the Bible say that lesbian sex is sinful? Or any form of sex? If jealousy is a concern, drawing the line at sex is arbitrary, because people can be jealous in a non-sexual relationship too.
I am sure Kate would discuss such topics with gusto. At 80 she is old enough to realize how short life is and therefore we have to cut to the heart of the matter.
In short: celibacy as a personal choice is good, but so is having sex in wild abandon. God gave us a brain and a conscience to decide what is good for us and our relationships. Let's not give up that decision power to any church or other authority.
If course this is easy to say. In actual life we struggle and we long for guidelines. This story beautifully describes the feelings of sadness, happiness, fulfillment and emptiness that come with the struggle of life.
Thank you so much, Bobbi. There is much more to come my darling, so hang on to the hankies xxxx
Thank you my darling Maonaigh. Yes, there are rather large nuggets of fact as well as fiction. I am glad that you are enjoying - much more to come xxxxx
Thank yiu Avatar. Let’s hope the next chapters rebalance things for you xxx
Thank you darling Amadeus, and your comments, as you know, resonate. Pixie and Emma have work to do … as we shall all see soon xxxxx
Darling Cupertino. They say you should try everything once except Morris Dancing and Sodomy. Given Pixie’s taste for the latter, perhaps chastity needed to replace it? But as the end suggests, not likely to last xxxxx
I love your writing style and imagination, as a certain Amazon might confirm. Congratulations on weaving together a range of emotions where your readers can finish having thoroughly enjoyed the process. 5 stars of course! xxxx
Not sure I like a celibate Pixie!😃
Hope the sexy Pixie returns in the next chapter.
Interesting turn of events. It's good that Pixie will have a place to live, and that she is having a relationship with Emma. But that last scene over Skype with AK shows that celibacy is not something that Pixie is likely to sustain for long.
Darling OneAuthor, yes, you spotted it - whatever her intentions, Pixie simply could not bottle up her passion for ever xxxxx
Aaaah the Pixie we all know and love. Seriously, why do we create more Gordian Knots in life? Is life not complicated enough without adding artificial problems?
Yet another wonderful chapter, my little one. My heart is heavy for both Pixie and Emma, I hope the clouds I see on the horizon are a trick of the light ... is that thunder?
Humans have the tendencies always to worry about this and that ...... Thats why the insurance companies are the riches in the world, after the vatican ..... But yeah SerradaC gordian knots or selfmade traps or some wrong decisions and so much more funny stuff we in the repertoire ...... So yes pixie and emma, but isn't it may a better decision leaving the sex behind so all the concentration is on feelings talkes i mean different kind of sensuality
Again as always only 5 stars 💝💝💝💝💝💝💝💝
More twists and turns and love for sweet Pixie. So loving.
