"Apologies," Eros said immediately with a slight bow in her direction.
"What do you mean to do with this information?" Lucifer asked Thoth, who didn't appear at all insulted to be asked.
"Document it. When the time is right."
"Thank you for your efforts, Thoth," Lucifer said and Thoth vanished, leaving only a rustle of bird wings lingering in the air.
"This information will not stay private long. Too many ears and eyes," Eros said softly.
"Evangeline, I need to ask something of you," Lucifer said, and she said nothing, allowing him to continue. "If you could be separated from Gwendolyn... would you want to be?"
The color drained from her face. "I... I don't know. I never considered it possible." She looked down at her hands. "We only have the one body... what would become of us? What about Sean? Our child..."
"Think about it," Lucifer said gently. "It could be the answer to everything. Now... let's get you home."
