Why can't we give 10 stars. Malroux is another author that needs 10 stars on his stories
A wonderful story of love in an insane word, I’m sorry you are no longer writing. I wish you were but I hope you are doing well and are happy, I’ve read all your stories down to this one and will finish them all as I’ve enjoyed every one of them. You are a good a writer as anyone on here. Good luck. MtM
Ruth: "Your bride will never be another's bride. Now go to sleep, you old fool."
=====> I would be the same way with my spouse. Of course for me I woukd substitute groom for bride :)
Very heart warming.
To previous anonymous. Try if you haven't already, some of dream clouds. Like rehab.
Slirpuff you asshole!!! Where the fuck do you get off trying to make me cry? Well congrats bitch, you got the job done. I have never read a more moving, heartfelt tome on these frequently sickening pages. Thank you.
I almost gave this one star as I was really saddened by it. But it was very well written.
A good real life tale showcasing a different generations idea and values of life partners. Its like the wives that got back out of the life boats about to be lowered into the water to be by their husbands side when the Titanic was about to sink. Well done....JZK
I lost one wife to COPD after a long slow downhill walk. Years later I found another to light my soul. She passed from cancer after less than two years. So whom will be there for me when I cross that barrier and follow the light?
I see that its been a year since I last read this marvelous story. Apparently our parents were better at love than we have been, judging from others here. Christmas Eve marked 5 years since my father passed, he and my mom had a great marriage.
somewhere east of Omaha
This story resembles the love & life of my parents! Unfortunately, I will never experience the same experience! I thought I had it in my first marriage, that never happened.
Not a typical LW story. I kept expecting some twist, But, none came. Instead, what we have is a Real Story of Love. Nicely Done.

One more time for one of the most beautiful stories that I’ve ever read. Anywhere.
This is a true loving wife (and husband) - an excellent story. It reminds me of my parents marriage.
Lovely, lovey story. It is truly one of the best on this site. Thank you.
If we all could experience true love like theirs, this world would be a much better place. Thank you
My fiance died suddenly in 2006. I was devastated. I eventually met a wonderful man whom I adore and cherish. We have a daughter now but I loved that man and I will always wonder what if. At least the woman here had a full life.
A true love story, a lifetime of devotion to each other. Not easily accomplished.
Reading a second time. I read the comments this time and was surprised at the number of people who didn't like this wonderful story.
Sweet story, but it doesn't belong in the Loving Wives section. Maybe the Romance?
What can I say I lost my mum and dad to cancer you are a very very talented writer who after writing this fantastic story made me cry ( now I can’t stop crying) I hate you ( not really lol ) ( because I love your stories lol ) for making me cry like this I would love to say don’t write something like this again but I would feel guilty for stopping you from writing your fantastic stories ( can’t believe how much I would love to kill you about this fantastic story ) ( but not really kill you lol ) just keep up the great stories you evil genius lol
Very little to add except nice work 5 stars SP
I lost my mother and a daughter to cancer, this one brought tears. Signed: BTW
Literotica's description of their category "Loving Wives" includes "married extra-marital fun." Which means a Literotica Loving Wife is not likely a real life loving wife. It also means that Literotica's description demonstrates that their title is a misnomer.
Summary. In the real world, the wife in this story is a loving wife. But in the Literotica world, she is not a "Loving Wife."
Since the story is posted on Literotica, it needs to go by Literotica rules/definition, meaning it belongs in some other category, such as Nonerotic or Romance.

Slirpuff can write! My grandparents were married 67 years. This story touched me in a very good way.
and having been married 38 years to my own sweet bride, this hit me hard. my mother, mother in law, and several close friends died from cancer. this story made me cry. *5*
Yep, after being married for over 52 years I know what they felt - thank you! 5*
Is a good "short story"; a little light in detail and development, but excusable as a short story.
Probably doesn't fit in the "Loving Wives" category. Probably better in "Romance".
Neither of us can prove the other wrong, therefore agnostics make sense to me. Believing there is a god/something more after we die or being an atheist are both statements and positions of faith given my first sentence. Since I can't prove it, for me it comes down to the preponderance of evidence. Given the absurdity of the idea of the eyeball evolving, for me it's an easy call to believe there is something/someone. Then it's just picking which belief system makes sense.
If you wish me to speak to the absurdity of the eye evolving I can.
who has been in a good marriage of many years can relate to this. Choked me up.
My bride and I were together from the age of 15 years although we knew each other before, then for seven years we courted, then were married for sixty years, my love died just after our sixtieth anniversary sadly. We didn't need anyone else our love was solid and still is in spite of our separation.
I'm adding no more as I shall be in tears.
I read this site because of all the adultery allegedly that takes place occasionally a real loving wife arises.
This story is about love. Love does belong on this erotic story site. And, just so you know, I have read many excellent stories here that contained more action and romance but less emotion. I luv this site and when an author is as good as this one it is an honor to have his stories to read. Best you just thank him or move on. Thank you Slirpuff!
You're wrong. It is love. At 80 years old and married for 54 years I can assure you that I love my wife more every day. We kiss every time we pass in the house. The kids find it revolting so we don't parade our sex life in front of them.
I'm also in agreement with Luedon; when we're dead, we're dead, end of.
Not looking forward to it, but grateful for my happy and fulfilled life.
Though, seeing as this is Literotica, maybe there's still time for her to seduce some guy. I do know one thing. He'd enjoy it!
One of the last comments said, "most will not understand ". So sadly true. I find it tragically ironic to find myself thinking things my grandpa said 50 years ago lamenting the downward selfish spiral in which the world had changed. Truly "the excesses of one generation become the norm of the next generation ".
I met my "bride" in high school on a fluke, or a divine meeting I would choose to believe because she has been an absolute, undeserved blessing to me from that day. My bride attended another local school whose Christmas break happened to start 1 day sooner than ours. I noticed her immediately on the small campus of my schiool. It was hard not to though being how beautiful she was and still is.
Me being the "class clown" as she has always delightfully teased me, noticed me as well. When we returned from the break I didn't see her and after a couple days asked a mutual friend, "where's the new girl?" She was confused for a moment and then connected the dots. She replied, "Sherri?" Yep. "She noticed you too!" "You need to call her!"
Thus began what is now a 40 year love, 37 married. Sure, we've had some rough spots, who doesn't when 2 or more people are together but our overriding love has squashed everything that's unimportant. We've each willingly and gladly sacrificed our personal selfishness for the other. Most poignantly and the reason I'm commenting is that to this day, I proudly and joyfully have introduced her to everyone as "my bride".
I've read virtually all the "Legends" stories and a few more. It's intrigued me because of my deep love of "my bride". I could NEVER share her with anyone and similar to this story and I've been engaged because I've contemplated "what would I do". I'm not sure as the scenarios change causing me to vary my thoughts in response to the injustice. Rest assured I'd have a response.Fortunately, for me, my bride and I have agreed from day 1. There is only 1 deal/marriage breaker...infidelity. At that point we're done. Period.
So I close to say I couldn't imagine feeling anything different than Ira who loved his bride unconditionally all his days. The story illicited great emotion in me. 5*
I can hear the smaltzy violins playing in the background. If there was a category for 'over the top' corny, this would be there. Oy gevalt indeed... does the scribbler actually know any Jewish people who would really say that? LOL
This is a different but true loving wife story.
This is really eroticism of a very different kind and one that hopefully reflects a good segment of our population.
Another really great story by Slurp!
T.T.
I am glad they found it.....I on the other hand am still looking. 4*
I am a mean old bastard but I still liked it. Anon. who was disappointed can kiss my old ass.
To some, stories like this can seem manipulative, an easy way to touch people, as if that's a crime of some type.
That certainly does not apply here. It was done simply, but with true grace, revealing an ending that will elude most of us.
This feels as if it may well be a tribute to a recently departed family member who had a loving relationship with someone important to the author.
So well written conveying so many emotions in such a short story.
Well done
Well anon, I hate to break it to you, but nobody forced you to read something you didn't like. There comes a point in any story when you can say to yourself, enough, I'll stop reading. But fear not, there were plenty of stories posted, anything from willing cuckold to slut wives. Maybe something more pleasing for your enjoyment?
Any day Slirpuff and FWBeast post stories on the same day, it's a good day. 5*
That was as sad as they come. But that's all our goal right? To die in the arms of our love. Tears lots of tears.
But there's enough of us "sentimental fools" around who do understand why we are as sentimental as we are. There's a place in this world for romantics.
Maybe one day you'll understand as well. Keep working on it.

There is an overwhelmingly evident purpose for this story. In fact, this writer has been doing this for a while, now. Write something that will push the right buttons. War heroes, guy with cancer, what's next, puppies and bunnies? Pandering for scores. His usual racist, violent, or nuclear and mindless, horribly written revenge shit wasn't getting the job done. Much like an aging rock band putting on the pop to sell a few records. And the sentimental fools buy the record. Two stars.
This is supposed to be a site for SEX stories, not a boo-hoo site for sad stories. WTF are you thinking?
ROMANCE...sure, absolutely. You could even make a reasonable argument for FIRST TIME (as in 'one and only.') But dropping it in LW? Seriously? Simple Click-bait, comment trolling, score shilling.
...you made me cry. I've been married to the light of my life for 40 years and have known her for 50, since she was the little next door neighbor girl. I fear the day when this will happen to us.
I'm a novelist. My genre is romantic suspense with some thriller and adventure mixed in. It is sweet stuff, with my protagonists always finding each other in the end. Occasionally I'll kill off one of my characters and it is painful. Yet I can't bring myself to write something like you did here, simply because it would be bringing it home to me.
Well done, sir.
When he came out of the doctor's office I thought sure as hell that he'd just been told that he has an STD, and he got it from his wife! And don't tell me you didn't anticipate that as one possible presumption, jerk. When he got too tired to walk the whole mile I then suspected how the story eventually unfolded.
My story would have been more dramatic and suspenseful and possible erotic. Your story was better. Thanks for that.
Really enjoyed it. Your couple has 22 years on me and the spouse, but so far its been a great ride. And whenever it ends, it will have been a great ride.
And to the poor anonymous who regrets his lost first love and feels like he settled for less, that's up to you my friend. First, some things are not meant to be, and almost always that's for a good reason. Secondly, if you have a spouse and family to share your life, you are already better off than millions of people around the world. Be grateful for what you have, not regretful for what you might have had. Demonstrating that gratitude might just energize a response of love and appreciation that will surprise and delight you.
Thanks again for a heartwarming and endearing story.
Although, when he said she could hook up with somebody else after he died, I was disappointed she didn't immediately respond, "Oh, goody. The butcher has been trying to get in my pants for the past 30 years. I can't wait to see what kind of meat he's packing! Will you help me pick out a thong before you check out?" "Actually dear, Jerry and I used to shower together after racket ball. Do you really want to become a vegetarian?"
A bit outside your character but a good short. You stired the emotions.
Bravo, it let me think more about the real important things at life!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
It's a story. RL isn't 'beautiful'. Life sucks - even when you are married that long. You stay together for a lot of reasons, avoid lonelyness, moneywise, the children, taking care for eachother. But love after so many years? It's caring for - not love. I probably get a lot of negative reactions, but I just want to make sure that love isn't the issue why ppl stick together. I am married 30+ years and still think that I've done things wrong. The girl I was very much in love with chose another man.So my wife wan't my first choice. My wife cheated on me some 20 years back, but when you have children and a mortgage, you don't walk away. But life isn't so much fun anymore - and the love has died. And when I read something like this story I only think: keep on dreaming, because you never know what ppl really think. Smile to the outside world, but what happens at home: you really have no clue.
There's was a rare commitment. Life goes on.
As a 75 year old married 53 years this made me very emotional. Brilliant!
What gives you the idea that a couple in their late 70s are 'older', my dear Slirpuff? That sounds awful ! I'm not yet quite into the 'late' part of the 70s, but the bloke I've been with all these years has only one year to go before his 80s.
I did like your term 'golden years', however.
Unlike you, I don't believe there's 'another side' where the first to depart this life will be waiting. So far as I'm concerned, when you've gone, you're gone. So you had best put the work into the precious relationship you've got with your spouse for as long as you've got it.

What a coincidence that I read this story on the anniversary of my surviving parent's Death. They were very much together like this couple, like the wife in your story, and in death found each other again. There... you made me cry.
Unlike others who state this is a porn site (they wouldn't know porn if it smacked them in the head), this is about loving wives, and actually meaning it. Great read. I always enjoy your stories.
Absolutely belongs in the LW category, and absolutely deserves the ***** rating I gave it. Well done!
I lost my wife on Halloween past and this story hit me hard. Good work, Slirpuff
you can be bombarded with in this category it's reaffirming to read about a couple who got it right.
and you cry, that's a full day. That's a heck of a day."
To qote the late Jimmy V.
After reading this and the comments I can check at least two off the list off this morning.
Great story to remind us that a loving wife can be many things but in the end togetherness is the ultimate aspiration.
