My God! Beautiful! Is it necessary to experience such horror and pain to truly perceive the depths of beauty? Or am I confusing something else for beauty? Love, perhaps. Malraux, I hope you are still out there, alive and one day will read this. Thank you.

Written so well! Unless a person has served and “been there”, one can not fully understand the things a person in combat must do, see and learn to live with.. Excellent story, well written. Thank you for sharing it. 5*s

Excellent. It doesn't matter where you served - Vietnam, SW Asia, or any of the other places we have been sent to. There are things that happen that you can't unsee or forget.

Josiah a stupid stubborn asshole who should have kept up with his therapy....he didnt even have the balls to walk up to Vogel in church

Anonymous you don’t understand PTSD or disability so you’re the asshole. As it goes his case is fairly mild. Among my friends and my dads friends and now my sons friends I’ve dealt with much worse. Time alone cures some, time let’s other people get to a functioning level and sometime let’s those of us around them find ways to deal with them if not cure them. You need help

A bit disjointed in the telling, but overall a excellent read. So superior to the common LW Drivell I had become used to. Five Stars. (BTW, the culmination had been evident pages in advance.) Still, Five stars!

There's a significant problem with a five star rating system in a venue such as this. One reads many stories, and some of those stories are quit good; better than most of the others. I award five stars to those that are worth it to me. But then, along comes a story that stand above all the rest, thus leaving one with a dilemma. I can't award six stars, which might leave going back to all those other stories to downgrade them. That hardly seems fair to those authors who's work is truly that much above the rest. So, all I can do is write a comment saying I would give more stars if I could.

Simply outstanding.

Powerful. Thanks.

Your stuff is ridiculously powerful. “Inspiring” is quite strong enough.

Excellent storyline with complex characters richly developed. You're quite the vocabulist. Well done! Finn

5 + Stars if it's possible. What a great writer. A powerful story of struggle. I love Mattie, if only all women were like that. They are out there, we just can't tell by their looks. I married my Mattie.
