I havent read the story past learning that the father abandoned his 10 and 8 yr old children. Sorry, even visits with the biological father are not a substitute for an intact family. No communication of unhappiness? No marriage counseling? Little time spent with his kids... Pure selfishness on the sperm donor's part.

When the youngest is 18 and if counseling hasn't worked, then you talk divorce.
