His return home was the same as always, but this time with no memento, which troubled him a little.

Several days later as he checked his mail he noticed an unusual package. A jiffy envelope, delivered by hand, but the deliverer must have waited for the mailman so that he or she could include in the regular delivery without drawing special attention to it. There was no address, either his or the senders, it was quite unmarked.

Curious, he quickly opened it. It contained a small key threaded on a silken cord.
