Just to thank my readers for the comments above, and for two anonymous feedbacks via email.

I've got another short story in the pipeline, so stand by. In the meantime, an anonymous reviewer kindly reported a few typos and I noticed a few additional ones myself when I re-read the story a couple of days ago but I can't see any means of editing the text; if anyone can point me in the right direction I'll gladly correct them. This is my first submission and I didn't want to spend a vast amount of time polishing the text incase it was poorly received. However, in light of the generally positive response I'm happy to do a little more work to clean it up.
