Can't be in Anaheim.

Sorry. I generally like the story for it's eroticism and sensitivity but...I'm a stickler for accuracy. This statement would never be true in Anaheim except in a power failure. " Jeremy found the crescent moon ascending from the eastern hills as the evening sky remained untouched with its dark blue hue."

The light pollution is so obscene in the metro Southern California, LA/Orange County areas that the sky is NEVER a dark blue hue instead being filled with an obscene orange sky glow. This is exacerbated when the light reflects off the light pollution and coastal layer. That crescent moon described is the only celestial object that is typically visible.
