We did break long enough to fix drinks and take the snacks to living room. The fire needed more stoking and another log. Drinks and snacks on the hearth, we settled on the cushions again.
"Did you rent or buy next door," I questioned.
"I came here as a temporary escape," she lowered her eyes and spoke more softly, "unless something permanent is offered. Seth, if you offer, I accept."

I now understood my thoughts of the gathering storm. Fate stormed into my life with what I both wanted and needed.
