Excellent simple tale, really liked it. Life was harsh back then. Glad they found each other. Five stars.

Very much enjoyed the story but, let me point out one glaring mistake. A section of land is 640 acres. And simple math will tell you that a quarter section is 160 acres. With the three of them they each could have claimed a quarter section and combined them to arrive at 480 acres under the Homestead Act of 1862 passed by the US Congress. That 480 acres of good grassland would provide plenty of forage for a very sizable heard of cattle provided that their claim was recorded with the government. MM
