⟡ CHAPTER SIX ⟡

My mind exploded before going almost completely blank.

"H-How?"

That was all I could muster. I sat, unable to move. I was on fire. My gut twisted and I knew I was feeling pure anxiety flooding my veins. I became a heavy rock sitting on the couch next to where Dustin laid.

He stared at me with gorgeous, glossy blue eyes.

"Gil told me when you were in the batchroom earlier. Was I bad for telling you? I juss didn't know an' I felt weird about knowing without you knowing that I knew... Er, was told... Does z'at make... Any since? I didzn't like having yer secret inszide me witchout you giving it to meeee!"

That's when the panic began to set it.

'Why the hell would Gil tell Dustin something like this? How would this even be brought up in conversation? Does he really not know that telling random strangers this information is NOT OK?'

"River," Dustin began.

'What the hell was he doing? Last I knew, he didn't even like Dustin. Now he's telling him my personal information? He doesn't even know this guy! What if Dustin wanted to take me back to his place just to hurt me?'

"River? Godda tell ya somethin' else," said Dustin.

'Oh God, this is it. He's going to say something gross or weird like everyone else up to this point has. I knew this was too good to be true.'

"Don't eeeever lemme drink dis much again, OK? Puh-leaaaaase."

Dustin's head thumped back to his pillow and within seconds, his breathing became even. His cheek was smooshed up against the rest of his face and a little bit of drool escaped his lips.

Even passed out like a complete and total dork, he was perfect.

"Thank you for telling me," I whispered, laying on the opposite couch, nervously awaiting the morning.

'Riiiiiver,'

That voice.

It was the same voice that floated behind my thoughts before. The sound echoed like it was in a chamber, but was somehow soft like it was made from clouds.

'Why aren't you waking up?'

A soft light appeared in the darkness. At first it was dim, like a spot of gray on a pure black background, but quickly the light grew. It grew in size and strength and soon, I gazed at a bright white light surrounded by hues of pinks, yellows, blues, purples and every color I could imagine.

It sparkled and glowed and was so warm that it felt impossible to feel anything other than extreme love. Not even just romantic love, but platonic love. Familial love. Self-love. Love for things and animals and people. The amount of love from the light was almost overwhelming.

Suddenly, a face flashed in the light. A beautiful face of a woman whose skin was incredibly dark and beautiful. Her hair was cut short and her features were full and gorgeous but the longer I stared the more her features shifted. Her skin got darker and then lighter, her nose grew longer and then shorter and wider and more narrow.

She was morphing in front of me, embodying every Earthly beauty there was to be held.

"Don't you recognize me? Don't you miss your place here, beside me? Your brothers and sisters have been working hard for you," The woman laughed. "And now that you've finally crossed paths again, it's time to wake up..."

DUSTIN

A lingering feeling of nausea woke Dustin, early the next morning. His eyes cracked open slowly as his mind adjusted to the fact that he was in his own living room. He searched his practically non-existent memories for any traces of how he made it back home.

It wasn't until he smelled fresh coffee and heard rustling coming from the bathroom that he realized he wasn't alone.

Dustin sat straight up and was shocked when a wave of nausea didn't follow. Surprisingly, he felt pretty OK, given the fact that he remembered little to none about what happened last night.

"Morning!"

Dustin jumped as River emerged from his bathroom.

'River? He came home with me? Oh my God!'

Dustin tried to hide the fact that he was squealing with glee inside, but the eager look on his face betrayed him.

"H-hi,"

"I take it you don't remember much about last night." River said, sitting next to

Dustin. Rivers' movements were gentle and considerate of Dustin's potential hangover.

"How'd ya guess?"

"Well the shocked look on your face is a start," River laughed.

Dustin realized that he rarely heard River laugh. He loved it. He wanted to drown in the noise.

"I'll fill ya in on the details if you tell me the last thing you remember,"

River was leaning close to Dustin and just the smell of his skin and cologne alone was enough to make Dustin hard, not to mention those incredible, dark eyes and ridiculously attractive smile. He wanted so badly to run his fingers through River's raven black hair, messing it up and pulling at the man's choppy undercut.

'Don't smile at me like that, River. Those lips...'

The alarming beep of the coffee machine tore the men away from their moment.

"How do you like your coffee?" River asked as he rose from his seat to move to the kitchen with Dustin on his heels.

"I can't believe you made me coffee... And did you put the trash next to me in case I threw up? God, that's embarrassing... For me! It's really sweet of you."

River stared at Dustin with a look of amazement on his face but even his expression couldn't hide the dark circles under his eyes.

"Wow, you were really gone last night, huh? Cups?"

"I guess so - wait. Why are you up so early? You look pretty tired."

"I don't sleep great, most nights." River shrugged. "It's no biggie, anyway - last thing you remember?"

Dustin's heart thumped hard as he reached for two mugs and poured them coffee. He did his best to play it off like he was cool, but he wasn't. He wasn't OK with just how much he didn't remember from the night before. He had faded in and out before, but a full on black out? Never.

'What the hell happened last night?'

He turned to River and couldn't help but feel like he too was feeling a bit of panic, despite not wanting to show it.

"The last thing I remember was Stephanie crying. I don't remember what she was crying about but I do remember seeing tears and well... Now I'm here somehow."

River's laugh lifted the weight off Dustin's shoulders.

'OK, good. That doesn't seem like it was bad crying then.'

Dustin sat on his counter and looked down at River as he got in the fridge and handed Dustin a pickle.

"Um... First of all, when did I get pickles?"

"I went to the store last night after you passed out to grab you some."

"Oh... Thank you? I think? Second of all... Why?"

"Pickle juice is good for hangovers, I think it's somethin' to do with electrolytes but I'm not a scientist."

"Mm. Sounds fake, but OK."

River's smile at Dustin's stupid jokes made the butterlies in Dustin's gut flutter.

"And third of all?"

"Third of all... Do you always ask your friends to eat your pickle?" Dustin's quick wit received an intoxicating eyebrow raise from River.

'I've seen bedroom eyes before, River and those are definitely it.'

"No, you're special. Besides, if you eat this pickle now maybe you can have mine later."

'I knew it. Just friends don't flirt like that!'

"I don't know if that was the best or worst line I've ever heard,"

"That makes two of us, toots," River winked.

Dustin's heart was thumping so hard, he was sure River could hear it. If he didn't, he would certainly have been able to see Dustin's face burn at the comment.

"For the record, Stephanie was crying because she loves you so much and she wants you to be happy in life, it's kind of her go-to when she's had too much to drink. Anyway, not much happened after that... I brought you home, helped you get to bed, we talked about your awesome photography...Then, uh," River rubbed the back of his neck, never allowing his eyes to meet Dustin's own.

"Then what?"

"You told me how hot you think I am."

A thick pause fell between the men.

"Are you messing with me?"

"I swear to God, I'm not." said River.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry! That is so embarrassing."

"Why are you sorry? Aside from the fact that you don't remember it happening, it was... Sweet."

'God, what other embarrassing shit did I say? I can't believe he still wants to flirt with me after seeing me so messed up last night. Does he actually like me?'

The loud beat from Dustin's heart reminded him that he needed to actually respond to River. Clearing his throat, he spoke.

"W-what else?"

"You said you wanted me to do unspeakable things to your body."

Dustin buried his face in his hands and groaned.

"Hey, d-do really feel that way about me?" River asked, avoiding eye contact with Dustin. His hands were shoved in the pockets of his jeans and River's slender shoulders were raised.

Dustin didn't know how to move forward. If he told River how he felt and River didn't reciprocate, that could mean a potentially awkward and awful rest of the semester, not to mention it would ruin any possible friendship between the two. But Dustin wasn't one to shy away from much.

"I really do."

"I... Um..." River cleared his throat. "Last night, you told me that Gil had told you something about me. Something that is extremely private... D-do you remember?"

As River's voice shook, Dustin gave all his strength to giving River his space and not wrapping his arms around the shaken, beautiful, dark-haired man.

"No. I'm so embarrassed but I really don't remember anything, River."

River exhaled deeply and Dustin's worries rose.

RIVER

'Am I going to tell him? If I want this to keep going, he's going to find out eventually. He seemed fine with it last night. Is there a chance he could be fine with it sober too? OK, River. Remember where your exits are. Take a deep breath. You can do this.'

"Dustin. I'm trans. I am a transgender man. Last night, apparently Gil told you that."

I tried to stop shaking but my body shot the adrenaline through me whether I liked it or not. I wasn't ashamed. I'm not ashamed. I was terrified. Especially at the look that graced Dustin's gorgeous features.

'I knew it. He's just like everyone else I've ever -'

"Look, I don't want to overstep but..."

'Fuck, here we go.'

"Isn't Gil your friend? And he just outs you like that? What the hell is his problem? I mean you clearly weren't going around telling everyone so why the fuck would he do that? Are you OK?"

I was certain I felt the air pause in my throat. Nothing moved in or out of my body.

"Um... I... uh... I'm fine. How do you feel about this?"

Dustin paused.

"Honestly, I'm a little pissed at Gil. Are you sure you're fine?"

I couldn't help but let a nervous chuckle escape my lips.

"I mean, how do you feel about... you know, being interested in me?"

"Oh!" Dustin released his own nervous laugh. "River, I really don't care about what the gender is, of someone I'm with or anything... I'm just into who I'm into. I've been with trans people before."

With just as much speed as the anxiety flooded my veins, it left my body, only to quickly return at the thought of Dustin possibly being a chaser and only wanting me because I'm trans.

"Like... Only trans people?"

"Huh? No, I've been with cis people too. I've been with non-binary people, genderfluid people, dudes, ladies... Wow, I've been with a lot of people. Just to be clear though, when we say with, I strictly mean sex. I've never really been in a relationship. Anyway, why do you ask? Am I missing something?" Dustin's confusion evoked a thick feeling of guilt within me.

'Maybe I shouldn't have assumed this amazing guy would be completely awful from the start.'

"I'm just wondering how you're so perfect," I gasped.

"I'm not perfect," Dustin laughed. "Don't you remember what an ass I made out of myself when we first met? Besides, how are you so perfect?"

"M-me?"

I could hardly place my emotions. The idea of someone thinking I was so wonderful was so new to me. If anyone had ever liked me this much before, they certainly never expressed it. I didn't know if I liked it, or hated it. I just knew I wanted Dustin's mouth on mine.

DUSTIN

River's bright eyes flashed to Dustin's lips. They were deep hues of plum from the rush of blood. Dustin caught River's line of sight as his own pupils dilated and flicked to River's lips. Their breath grew heavy. They were on the same page, but neither knew who would initiate.

"Are you interested in me back?" asked Dustin.

River nodded, his dark eyes were practically glowing and his smile was bashful as he bit the corner of his lip. He sauntered toward the blonde, taking his place between Dustin's thighs, River let his hands rest on them.

"You want me?" Dustin asked as their eyes bore into one another when Dustin wrapped his arms around Rivers' shoulders.

"I've wanted you since the first time I saw you." River's voice was low and raspy. Dominant yet gentle. Rivers' arms slithered around Dustin's hips and forcefully slid the blonde to the edge of the counter, receiving an enticing gasp from the wealthy man.

"I want you so badly," Dustin moaned as the gap between them closed. Their noses barely brushed one another.

"Please," he begged. "Kiss me."

Before he knew it, River's fingers cupped both sides of Dustin's face as their lips crashed together making sensual contact. The kiss was somewhat soft and small at first but the second River pulled away, Dustin beckoned him back in. It was Rivers' turn to deepen the kiss as his blood boiled and his tongue explored the delicious and irresistible taste of Dustin's mouth.

Hungry moans escaped as Dustin's tongue explored all areas of River's mouth. Both men's hands explored one another's body, gripping and pulling at each other's clothes. Dustin's palms grasped River's cheeks, deepening their heated kiss even furthur.

Both men were on fire.

Their blood flowed. Their hearts pounded. Their cocks stiffened in their pants as unmistakeable arousal sparkles tingled to their fingertips. Rivers hands roamed Dustin's tight, muscular body, massaging up and down his strong legs, hips, and chest.

Even at his position on the counter, Dustin could hardly control his needy hips from rolling forward into River. Finally, their heated kiss slowed and their lips parted. Panting from sheer adrenaline, River rested his forehead against Dustin's. His chest rose and fell with more weight than he gave himself credit for.

Before he could convince himself that Dustin was a mere distraction or somehow wrong for him, or that he wasn't good enough, Dustin slid off the counter and pressed his warm body against River's, pinning him between the refrigerator and himself. Dustin was met with a more forceful kiss from River in an erotic battle for dominance.

Wet, heat became trapped between them as their breaths tangled. River's lips travelled down Dustin's stubble kissed jaw as if to tell his partner that he was in the lead. He sucked and nipped at each sensitive spot while Dustin threw his own head back and tangled his fingers through River's raven hair.

"Fuck... River..." Dustin moaned. "You need to be careful. You might make me burst."

Dustin received a low, growl like smirk from River as his kisses moved to a tender spot, just below Dustin's earlobe.

"I like making you moan my name,"

River's resonance made goosebumps rise all over Dustin's skin.

Soon, River's hands were under Dustin's shirt. He felt himself growing more and more aroused with every inch of Dustin's skin that his fingers found. He felt each of Dustin's hard muscles under his palms and soon his digits slid through Dustin's belt loops, magnetizing their hips together through waves of erotic gyrations.

"Mmm," Dustin groaned. He dipped down and wrapped his arms underneath River's tight rear before picking him up and reconnecting their heated kiss.

River's arms were tightly wrapped around Dustin's neck while Dustin moved the two back to the living room, falling back on the couch with a oof!

Giggles danced through the air as the men's kiss parted.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" River whispered with his forehead stuck to Dustin's like glue.

"I've never been more sure of anything in my life."

River groaned as his hips rolled forward, grinding against Dustin's girth.

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Dustin asked.

"Absolutely."

River tugged Dustin's t-shirt above his head and tossed it to the floor. He reconnected his soft lips down his neck, dragging his tongue along his collar bone. The lower and lower River's tongue went, Dustin's chest rose and fell with equally great weight. He stopped at Dustin's hard nipples, kissing and nibbling as the hot bubble of arousal grew in his abdomen.

"You are so fucking hot," Dustin cried as River hands massaged up his thighs, growing closer and closer, teasingly, toward his stiffness.

"You, are so fucking hot."

River stood from his spot, in front of Dustin and slowly unbuttoned his pants.

"Are you sure?" He whispered, his breath shaky as he paused his movements.

Dustin sat forward and grabbed River's hips, kissing the button of his dark jeans.

"Do you trust me?" Dustin asked.

"Yes,"

"Then trust me when I tell you, if I have a problem with anything, I'll let you know. Do you promise to do the same?"

River nodded while Dustin held out his pinky. River hooked his around Dustin's as they made their promise to one another.

"I promise."

RIVER

I've never wanted anyone to fuck me the way I wanted Dustin. In fact, I hadn't wanted anyone, at least in real life, since I started transitioning and maybe it's because I just did my shot, but I felt like I needed him now or I would explode.

His grip on my hips loosened as he sensually massaged his way forward, slowly pulling the zipper down my already unbuttoned jeans. My heart pounded, as I felt my jeans slip down my thighs and fall to the ground. Somehow, this moment felt perfect. Overwhelmingly so, as if every fucked up thing that's ever happened in this life somehow culminated in the place I was meant to be.

Here.

"Can we go to the bedroom?" My own voice almost felt disembodied, as Dustin nodded.

A smile kissed his lips before they connected with mine. He wrapped a strong arm underneath me and lifted me up once again. My legs wrapped around his waist as we giggled into our kisses and Dustin carried us to his immaculate bedroom.

His sheets were dark and silk, shining with each curve of the blankets underneath a ridiculous amount of the fluffiest pillows I had ever seen. I kicked the door closed behind us, casting a layer of darkness across the room. As we fell back to the bed, I felt Dustin reach toward the light on his nightstand.

"Wait," I breathed. "Can we keep the lights off?"

"Of course," Dustin groaned and I felt his hips roll into mine.

"Fuck," I breathed as his hot mouth moved up my neck. The fabric of my underwear was thin enough that I could feel his stiffness against mine, but only teasingly so before I grabbed his hips and pulled him into me with more strength as moans escaped our connected lips.

I flipped us over, allowing myself to regain my position on his lap. Our fingers tangled together, and I pulled his arms above his head and held them there with enough strength that he was held down, but not enough that he couldn't get out if he wanted.
