The extra light entering the room from the open door must have attracted their attention and they both stopped mid-move and looked in my direction. I saw the recognition on Lindsey's face at about the same instant that I realised that it was she. Her eyes seemed to get very large before they vanished as I closed the door again as quietly as I had opened it.

With determination in my step I followed the same route Conway's wife had taken down the corridor. Only I didn't turn into the function room, I headed for the reception desk where I retrieved my key and told the girl behind it that I was not to be disturbed, unless World War Three broke out, or the hotel was burning down.

Then I went to my room vaulting up the stairs, three at a time. Once inside I locked the door retrieved the bottle of Rum I'd brought with me, just in case, and then turned out the light.

Pigheaded and then some

A true nutcase is our Mack!!!

Wonderful. Good job keep him in character.

It gets a bit much with all the bed swapping, etc. at the pub, but very good story.

Too Far

Now you have stretched both the coincidences and Mack's stupidity past the limit.

Arrgh!

I have mixed emotions. Part of me thinks how could anyone act this stupidly and yet I know I might well do the same. Also, I am enjoying the story too much to want a quick conclusion.

Well done

I find it verying interesting to watch the slow(!!??) development of Mack. The first time I read the story I was very impatient with his lack of maturity but then I started thinking about my own attitudes fifty years ago and concluded that he is a very real composite of a young man growing to maturity. Great work Forrest(DAVE)! Thanks.

Black or white ?

For some, the notion of several shades of grey comes later than for others, especially if some fixation creates stubborn reactions that feed on themselves. Everything in life isn't always black or white. Still very good story but somehow I feel it's time to lead to some conclusion. If he were to leave on this tentative trip, there's no point in relation further sexual exploits (covering another couple of years ?) as they would't matter to the story. So let him talk to Lindsey (if or when she comes to his room ?) and solve his hang-up one way or the other. She would be stupid to wait for him any longer. G.Belgium

Ah, Youth!

Ah, to be young, stupid, dumb, and an idiot and did I mention stupid? Youth wasted on the young. Been following along with this jolly story and enjoying it. But still wondering when Mack will finally get a clue about life. I know, takes somes longer than others. My sensibilities really started kicking in sometime after thiry or so. But I hope it doesn't take that long for Mack. I may not live that long.
