I gave in 5 stars, through in the days before endemic grade inflation this would have been a 3/4 - of course nowadays most 4s and 5s deserve to be 2s and 3s
A really good story has periods of tension - and then resolution of that tension. Whatever tension the story had was Maddie's desired to have children and her husband's disinclination to have sexual intercourse (question to which I have no clue of the answer: would in vitro fertilization be possible without running the risks of HIV infection?)
Doesn't matter. This is a stroke story, and a pretty good one - not enough tension or conflict to make it really good, but good, no question
