I mean, you can type out whatever words you wish, but if you want the 99% of your audience that's mentally all right to engage with those words, you can't just suddenly drop the story off the cliff without giving the audience some sort of an handle with which to suspend disbelief. If a character suddenly starts babbling stuff that's just poo-on-the-walls insane, you'd have to have other characters calling 911 for an emergency commitment, to keep the audience on the page.

I have no problems with your ending but I did hate it and found the reasoning to drop it all on his mother's door to be self deception. His mother is super guilty especially as your mom is the one woman whom should never betray a son, but the wife was also very culpable. Especially since she went to that well 3 times. You gotta figure at least 5-10 sexual encounter per child...ouch.

No mater how well you wrote this story this is one reader who has a problem with you presenting your MC into buying into accepting a mother doing that to her son and him accepting his wife having sex with another man hundreds of time over the years to produce 3 kids..It in fact is the true description of a cuckold..Raising anothers offspring unknowingly..The undying love for the children is without question understandable. But the wife just for keeping the secret and the on going sex to produce 3 kids is simply unthinkable for anything but for the husband to torch her along with his mother and totally alienating both from his life.Even though I disagree your fairy tale ending,you earned 4 stars for the tale..JZK
