"Of course," I said.
He did not get up to walk me out as I went to leave, but threw me a half-smile and said, "Thanks for coming by. I really appreciate it."
"I wanted to," I said. I told him to feel better soon and left for my parents' house.
On the second bus I reflected, expecting to feel something negative in response to our latest agreement-some pang of worry or regret chewing at the edge of my thoughts-but it couldn't be conjured. I felt no adversity at all, and any anxiety (if it could even be so labeled) took the form of an occasional lightness, like a tiny balloon humming around in the upper reaches of my chest. Each time I felt it, I smiled.

Anonymousabout 6 years agoI love your writing style, and I love how you're feeding us this story in little chunks! I know the book is out there, and I'll definitely buy it, but there's something nice about getting it in serial style, and anticipating when you'll post the next installment.
I love the deep complexity you've given your characters. It's a much more engaging read that then usual cum-fests that you find here.

o2byoungabout 6 years agoAs one writer to another, I know you have more followers than I, but all of them are encouraging. There are only a few stories that I am following, and two of them are yours!
I love comments, and I'm sure you do, also. Comments are fuel to keep us going, to try and pump out that next chapter, to keep our readers wanting the next installment, and I'm waiting for yours, as my readers are waiting for mine. I wish I could write half as fast as my mind creates! Kid, your writing is awesome!
