One of the things that makes a story good is the idea that "this could happen." This story has that feel. I suspect that a lot of these stories are more than just fantasy, actual events with maybe a little embellishment. I also find a story believable when there is an emotional connection between the players. These two obviously have that. I'm not as mystified as some, though, about the ending. Life is funny, and things don't always work out in ways you'd expect; often it's just the opposite, especially if there is a wide age gap. I say that having been married to someone 15 years older than I, and now to someone ten years older. Eventually, practicality wins out. Not that there can't be a deep abiding love-often there is-it's just that the day to day issues overwhelm the relationship, and love doesn't always win out.

I'm always amused at the reactions of the adult kids in these stories. I don't get Tracy's outrage. It's not as if the writer and Diane were making out at the reception, or screwing on a table. Does Tracy think she's the only one allowed to have sex on her wedding day?? Besides, Diane is a mature woman who is capable of making her own relationship decisions, and does not need her daughter's approval or permission. Tracy's husband may be in for a rough ride.

Anyway, I enjoyed it. Nicely done.
