by Tx Tall Tales
You clearly missed the point (a condition not foreign to you, I suspect). The skill with which the author wove the conflicting points of view is extremely rare. Every innocuous comment by Trey is seen as menacing and portentous by his friends. It is said that the guilty flee when none pursue. They never said how fricking funny it is to watch them do it. Tex has written a very tight, very funny story. Trey and Sue are great characters, but their story is done. I am usually the first one to clamor for sequels but this is perfect as is. 5 stars. Thanks for writing, Tex! JPR
This is the BEST Mr Clueless type of story I've EVER read. You, sir, are a great author. Keep 'em coming!
I loved the way they misinterpreted everything the poor guy said. That they were convinced he was some lethal special-ops badass was such a great setup for all his innocuous comments.
I genuinely laughed out loud several times, thanks for those! :-)
T3,
Fantastic humor brilliantly written! It is one of the most imaginative stories on the "Literotica" web site.
I loved it and look forward to reading more of your imaginative and highly enjoyable literature in the future,
Kudos!
A Huge Fan
I know it's needed for the story, but two things still puzzle me:
1) They all think that he's some sort of special ops, James Bond, license to kill killing machine, and they're even THINKING of fucking with him? Even if they think he doesn't know?
2) They've only been married a year, he gives Sue the best sex she can DREAM of, she even thinks that he could fuck her to death, and she's even thinking about playing around on him?
Please follow up with more stories , lots of milage left with the main character , thanks for your time and effort that yiu put into this story
I've seen this plot device used before with about the same results. It's extremely hard to believe that anyone is that ignorant. It would have taken me about 30 seconds to catch on and I would have had someone's scalp hanging from my belt before the night was over.
The secret was obvious! Sue, Dale and Mark were getting too close. They hadn't cheated YET, but were getting close. Trey unknowingly scared then straight.
Reminded me of that awesome Peter Sellers' movie - and of Woody Allen's famous quote: "Eighty percent of succes is showing up." Well written, although indeed Sue wouldn't even consider the other men. But I guess careless talk indeed costs lives.
I'll believe Mystery(Trey) was totally in the dark up to the point that Marie slapped Mark and made him apologize. THEN Trey should have caught on and been asking Sue questions like "what the hell is going on??" Trey continuing on oblivious makes him seem mentally retarded. Trey doesn't have to KNOW what he's missing BUT he ought to know he's missing SOMETHING!
The conversations, all at cross purposes, were entirely too funny! The misconceptions on both sides, in the interactions between our hero and all the others, made for high entertainment. Your series has to continue. Your writing of this piece was nothing short of brilliant.5*s.
I've read this several times, and I keep coming back to one, maybe two thoughts.
The "maybe" is Mark apologizing, and Trey never questioning. The story is written, so there is nothing that can be done there.
The one that CAN have something done about is WHAT had been/was going on and WHY?
A short epilog from Sue or Marie about what was going on with Sue, Dale and Mark, why Marie and Annie, at least ONE of whom had some idea and wasn't stopping it. and why was Sue doing it would be nice.
Does Trey have Aspergers? Because if he doesnt, then he must be the most obtuse smuck on the planet. In the thousands of people I have met over decades, I have never met anyone as dense as Trey. A bad plot compounded by what cheating actually happened? Please dont write like this again
Can't that last anonymous lulu, spell asparagus? Must have had his hand over his mouth laughing to have muddled up Aspergers with asparagus! Outrageously
worth five pointy things, even if some of them were obvious but slightly blunt points!
The guy is totally clueless, but has everyone fooled. Great story. I fucking loved it! A 5 Star Rating.
And what kind of cheating whore dares to claim how she will get revenge if she s cheated on?
Hilarious!!! Some people make the craziest assumptions!
love makes men that stupid. it's rare that men love. but only men CAN love. and it creates blind trust and a tunnel vision. whatever re-enforces his biased outlook is over-exaggerated and any red flags are ignored.
and women go on the offensive ALL the time. It's a fucking cliche' red flag. A woman that accuses you over and over again is projecting.
I would like to see if you could take these characters and do more with them. Perhaps, one of the wives is kidnapped, and the husband, knowing (erroneously) that mystery is spec ops, asks him to go save her. Or, Mark and/or dale cheat, and the wives want vengeance. Only, in order to explain why, they have to explain what happened between the two men and sue. Just ideas.
Is he REALLY that way, or is it one of the coolest disguises ever?
I know my opinion!
That was really good. Just a solid, fun story. No one really knows what is going on, but E bungles his way through it. He scared the hell out of the possible cheaters just being himself. Just a great story.
that this goes over the heads of so many.
That about sums up the Loving Wives genre.
If Literotica were a company they’d be forced to split off LW by now.
Looking forward to followup stories. Love the main guy in this, but really can anyone be that naive and guileless? I hope so, the world needs more like him. Signed: BTW
Really need the follow up stories to this like the aftermath and Trey being clueless but bumbling through in the end.
Agree with previous requests for follow-on chapter(s)
As the ending neared and the plot played out, I kept wondering how a physical confrontation would ensue, with Trey demonstrating his martial arts skills in some non-confrontational, unintended fashion, while the guilty guy(s) would have to determine how to respond, and how it would play out, with confessions and such, letting the reader in on the secret.
While I'm extremely impressed with the author's writing skills in this and his other stories I've read, I'm more amazed at the creativity and plot development (not to slight character development or other skills).
SharkBytes
Fun story to read. Amazing job on delivering the right amount of perspective to understand the story!
DTIverson's A Simple Inquiry but it's missing that little wink to the reader at the end to show that the narrator isn't a clueless as it appears.
That were clueless about this story is mind boggling. Its about a guy who says little, who has a kind of secret past. Is socially inept . Everyone thinks hes like a james bond type character. The less he says the more they assume. Very funny.
5 stars for a very imaginative story. I would love to know more about what happened or didn't happen with the wife and two friends.
A great story that I first read the day it came out. I'm only disappointed that we never got any follow up stories as suggested at the start and end of the story, because I like the main character as well.
Phil
How small details stick in your craw? I know a few military pilots, typically for the single guys their cars are their loves, they store them rather than sale them quick, ESPECIALLY something as desirable as a 69 Vette 427 convertible. Add BIG $ for being a 69, add more for triple black ( black interior, exterior and convertible roof). Daily driver is 50 Gs, numbers matching is 75-100.
Still loved the story.
Maybe I'm clueless as Trey; but did his wife actually fuck all the men at the party?? Or maybe just a circle BJ?? Or just some inappropriate touching and teasing??
If screwing then where's the revenge. I would take her out on the boat and come back alone!!!
that was a funny story and a great lead in to future "Mr. E" stories. thanks!
This was as good a story as any I have read on this site. I enjoyed the humour and the confusion of Mr. Mystery. Carry on the good work
Okay, I've read this several times, and I've probably said this before, but I love this story, the way he misses their social cues, and doesn't realize the signals he's sending.
What I don't get is Sue, Mark and Dale. They all think he's some sort of a super spy death machine. Sue loves him to death, believes that he's a love god that could actually kill her with sex. Yet after only a year of marriage she was apparently considering cheating with Mark and/or Dale? Other than giving a framework for all the misunderstandings, it makes no sense.
Might have been better if it was around their fifth anniversary, when some of the "same old, same old" starts to set in, making her interest in some strange a little more relatable.
Yes, I know, I'm making too much of a story not meant to be taken so seriously, just sayin'!
@MarkT63, my feeling is that things haven't gone much beyond some inappropriate conversations, maybe some kissing, even a little fondling, probably outside of clothes. I certainly don't think anything was consummated.
As another comment she says he is great so why cheat?
Talk about people on 2 different planes...he's just a naive introvert with, as he correctly says, no social skills. They assume he's some James Bond super spy and since he has no idea what their assumptions are they never really connect.
Love this story. So the main character is naive but his protaganists are even more naive. Did any of then really ask deliberate questions? No! They might of asked some questions, then based on their own ASSumptions, came to the wrong conclutions which all worked out for the main character. He was just being himself and everyone else got flustered around him. And i agree with another commenter sbrooks103x, that i dont think Sue cheated but may have been pushing the boundaries a little. All in all, i foundvthis to be a funny, delightful story.
This needs a BTB followup where he gets revenge on all the cheaters.
Anyone who can't see this happening in real life must have an IQ below 80. I never knew I was smart until my second year in college when given a test. Had always looked at my self as average, except I had almost no social skills. Never picked up the fact that women were flirting with me, still don't. 68 years old with an IQ above 150. One of the best stories on this site.
Have keep this going need to know exactly what happened and was happening till the party with the 3 husband's and his wife sue...will be wiating for it.
Very fun. People say they wanted more but I honestly thought it was just about right, if not a little too long. It's not supposed to be taken seriously so we don't need all the stupid details spelled out for us. We know he's naive and trusting and he was lucky enough to inadvertently stop what was going on before it went too far. That's all that was needed. Again, really great story.
I would buy someone claiming an IQ of 120 to 140. Someone posting anonymously claiming to be above 150? Uh huh. Sure.
Okay, I loved this. A guy who is socially awkward but loves picking up skills moves to Antarctica for 5 years and no one believes him when he tells them? So they just assume he has a black bag past he can't talk about and he misguidedly goes along with a lot of their assumptions as it's easier socially and he doesn't actually 'get' a lot of their insinuations. Brilliant!
The whole reveal of the 'affair' although nothing is outright revealed is fantastic, as is the socially inept thinking behind the 'ruining' of the evening. He's embarrassed and thinks he's socially stunted, turning people off but everyone else thinks he's operating on another level above them all and just demonstrating how effortlessly dangerous he is.
A very fun story, even dealing with a sticky situation.
Brilliant story. You adhered to the old adage "always leave them wanting more". We can wish for more of this story but, I think you ended it just right. 5*
Absolutely brilliant story read this several times now and still think it's the best. Would love a continuation that expanded to what happens after and gives us a view of things from Sue's side.
I really don’t have much to say other than it was all seemed so poetic. The guy without a clue has everyone around him shitting themselves believing he not only knows all but has the means to do something about it if he so chooses. A socially awkward otherwise average man mistakenly thought to be a very dangerous, and potentially cold, calculated weapon.
I’d really like to see some more of this.
It takes a special skill to be able to write like this.
Good mechanics. Good story overall. And original story. Wow!
How clueless Trey was, is the true Mystery!!! Did Sue actually cheat with the 2 guys?? Or did she ALMOST cheat??
@MarkT63, his cluelessness isn't a mystery; he's on the spectrum and doesn't pick up on social cues. No, she didn't cheat. I'm not sure how you define "almost cheat." If you mean did she make out but not fuck, no, I don't think so. Were they planning something? Most definitely! That's why Dale was begging for forgiveness for what they HAD done, and why Annie believes that Dale has some 'splainin' to do.
Been reading Literotica for sixteen years. This is my all time favorite story.
I can't really add much to the praises, nothing really. Just as to where and when the stories ends: it has to end there, because it ends on a positive note and I guess most people like it that way.
However, if I think about it, I suppose that marriage either ends in the not so distant future, or he'll be living as a betrayed husband. His wife is scared at the moment, but as soon as enough time passes she'll try something again. Why wouldn't she? She thought he was some sort of James Bond when they became acquainted, as did her friends, still they were about to cheat on him. The situation hasn't changed really and there's no indication that she is a different person now. She'll try to be more careful and to find other men to play with next time, that's all.

I see a lot of great comments yet I was so bored. I assume there was a story in there somewhere. The whole Antarctica thing? Why? Boy meets girl added nothing to a cheating story. To me this could have been done in a couple of paragraphs.
So funny; excellent scene setting and perfect innuendo. I laughed so much I was crying! Great story.
This was mega-weird -- but a good weird. Your MC has Asperger's but doesn't know it. Maybe we could all use a little bit of that sometimes. 5*
Interesting, another clueless guy cause he loves his wife and has never lusted after another woman and trust his wife completely. Truly a nerd not able to relate to other people. Don't think the others will think about screwing around again cause they are all scarred shitless of him! Kept waiting for the light bulb to come on but it never will because he trusts people.
I love this story, I think it's the third or fourth time I've read it. And certainly not the last time I'll read it.
Great writing. Portrayed him as loveable idiot beautifully.
But I prefer vandemonium1 and FTDS protagonists
jtwheels
Great to read this stupidly comical story again, this is my 3rd reading over a couple of years and still find it worth 5*
A. B. C. Accuracy. Important to make the reader believe that attributes of the story are real, or given descriptions that are of real things, subjects, and/or places. Brevity. Short stories capture and keep the attention of even the most affected A.D.D. sufferer, and yet is still able to execute the mind into imagining a running film in time to the dialogue of the story. Clarity. Not muddling sections of the tale in the more of over-production. If you can read a story, imagine it as a film or, if multi-part/chapter mini-series, then we have a winner in my book.
This is one story I so thoroughly enjoy, I have read it multiple times, just to find nuance that I might have missed. High Praise and Laud unto you, good sir!
It is still great. And I am still waiting for your follow-up story. You Promised!
Good story but there isn't a sane man alive that wouldn't know what was really happening lol
I love the premise. Silence speaks volumes and removing all doubt when you start speaking.
Interesting, being taught all winter in Antarctica.
Entirely possible. Highly improbable, however. I'm very smart but often clueless about some things. As I get older, the realization of what I know and don't became more obvious to my wife and me.
Very well done!
One of my favorite stories, read it more than thrice. Only wish the hero had more brains to know what's going on around him.
Reread for the umpteenth time, still gives me a chuckle , bumped score from 4 to 5. Thanks for writing!
Very Interesting? Loads of double entandres and assumptions, good thing nothing actually happened.
What? Trey still doesn't understand. Like that he is so quiet they all think he is a "mystery Man"
NewOldAuthor read it umpteen times. Bumped it up. My re-reading bumped it down for the deliberate "mysteries."
Great job/ Would be interesting if Trey got clued in some time and see the reaction.
Liked it very much. I think it's in the right category. Nice how just because he's an awkward and quiet guy everyone misunderstands everything he says and does. Would love to see more of this type of character
Yes people that dense are alive and well, Im one of the many. She had been cheating for almost 2 years before I caught on. I never hit her but she jumped through a glass window to get away from her lover and my fight. Hes wa a club gulf pro and I own a small oil company, having worked my way up and into starting my company. Yes I got a divorce, broken eye socket and broken shoulder blade, he got a broken wrist and the tibia in his left leg shattered. I still dont know where I went wrong with her. This was a well written story, clear, fun and entertaining, thank you for a good read.
Quite the story, it really leaves you wondering just how much he really does know. Mystery is a perfect name I think...no one really knows what's going on in his mind. Very well done!
