A good, affecting story. I can't tell if this is meant as a kind of memoir, or if it is a recollection over a longer time and we can expect to find out what happens next. Do the other spouses die or leave allowing these two finally to get together? I guess we'll see. Good job!

This happens way too often in life.

What a horrible protagonist! Being unfaithful is bad enough, never excusable, but explainable. Doing it with your spouse's sibling is just plain evil! Not only do you risk breaking your marriage, but you also risk breaking your spouse's family - the support structure that your spouse would need after you potentially crush their heart. If/when the spouse finds out, a very likely outcome is double murder followed by suicide. How anyone could treat a person they vowed to love in such a despicable way is beyond me. How could such a person live with them self?

Also, the story is in the wrong category. It belongs in "Loving wives".

Not every story has a happy ending. Not every story has any kind of ending. Thoreau said the mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. This is an example. I know only too well that this type of thing happens all the time. People get stuck. People cannot throw things away that took years to create.

I couldn't throw away my family.

There’s so many layers to consider in this story — the brother, a veteran who saw things in the Middle East that still haunt him and disable his ability to connect with his brother’s wife. Then there’s a wife neglected by her husband and why for both of them? I think this speaks of how some men (?) view sex as their most intimate way of expressing love, while also portraying the emotional connection women yearn for. This isn’t dirty or raunchy, and I’m not even sure it’s incest. Thank you for sharing this story.

If this is a true accounting, you both deserve to lose everything. Be happy in your guilt, you've earned it.

This story works best w/ A Purely Physical Sexually-Charged Lust-Driven Scenario between the wife and brother-in-law not a loving romance.

It’s funny how falling in love can be such torture. I’ve read that it’s much easier for lovers to be happy if they don’t fall in love with each other and just enjoy the Sex they have with each other. From what I’ve seen that’s true.
