Chapter 2 Putting my Plan in place

Monday

The alarm went off at my regular time to get up and go to work. I showered, shaved and got ready just like any ordinary day and then got out the ticket and put it in my wallet and got my backpack heading out the door at my usual time to go to work.

Except, I wasn't going to work. I headed to the next town and found the Denny's and had a nice breakfast taking my time waiting for the Credit Union to open.

To kill some time I went into the Home/Farm store and browsed around finding a few items that I would want to include in my tool kit for the RV. Left there and drove by the local Jeep dealer to see what was on the lot. Found two that I might be interested in and spotted an RV dealer across the street. Drove over there and looked over the two self contained coaches they had on the lot. Both were nice but I didn't think that they had everything I would want and they only had one slide-out each. I preferred two.

Finally it was approaching 9:00 am and time for the credit union to open. I went in and they had a couple of safe deposit boxes available. I choose the larger one since I was going to be traveling a bunch and wanted somewhere safe to store some items of importance.

Got the paperwork finished and put the ticket in the box leaving with two keys to open it.

I then used my cell phone to call the finical advisor Carson that Steve referred me to.

I was in luck, he had a 10:00 -- 11:00 am time slot available to meet.

I killed another half hour looking at small 4WD trucks that had double cabs that I might buy to pull behind a coach stopping by the Ford, Chevy and Toyota dealers.

Only the Toyota dealer had something on the lot that I might be interested in.

I got to Jim Carson's office just before 10 O'clock and his receptionist escorted me to his back office.

After introductions and a short chat where I found out we were distant relatives I asked, "Jim, would you be willing to sign a non-disclosure agreement on something that will be in the 7 to 8 digit range?"

That got his interest. "Is it legal?" He asked.

"Most assuredly. I replied.

Then it hit him, "Oh My God! You're from White County. You hit the lottery yesterday!" he exclaimed.

"Let's see your non-disclosure. He said.

He spent about 10 minutes looking it over and said, "Sure, I'll sign and also have my receptionist sign as well."

"Um..did you secure your wining ticket someplace?" He asked.

"Put it in a safety deposit box 1st thing this morning." I said.

"Smart move."

I gave him my list of what I wanted to do with my winnings. We discussed each item and he suggested a couple of more such as setting up a trust and maybe putting back into a college savings program when Lance and Betty have a child and whenever I would.

"Well, looks like you have given this some thought. All of this looks doable. We need to get the LLC set up and what you looked into online is a good way to go." He said.

"What about getting a lawyer and an accountant on board and maybe having a meeting with the three of you at one time?" I asked.

"Excellent idea. I have a couple of different lawyers and accountants that you could choose from. With your situation this lawyer and this accountant would be my recommendations as they both have dealt with stuff like this in the past and would probably be agreeable to your request for an NDA. If either or both are unavailable though, then any of the others would work as well. I have working relationships with all them. In fact we have about 15 minutes in the hour I allotted, let's give them both a call and see if they would be willing and available to meet."

We called and he put us on speaker phone. The lawyer was 1st and he said he was available tomorrow morning at the earliest at 9:00.

We then called the accountant and he was available this afternoon or tomorrow morning Between 8:30 and 10:00. The accountant had a conference room for us to meet in and was in the same block as the Lawyer. We set it up for 9:00.

Jim called Rob back and told him we would meet at 9:00 tomorrow at Pete's office.

I asked what I owed him for his time.

"In this case, the 1st hour is on me." He said realizing I was probably going to be his best client.

----------------------------------------

I left and went to a Pizza Hut to have lunch. I ordered a small veggie pizza and a lemonade to drink and noticed two petite blond girls sitting across the way. They looked like twins and would be quite attractive with some better clothes on and their hair fixed. They had just finished up and were getting up to pay when the one that was paying discovered she did not have enough in her purse for the bill let alone a tip.

"Oh! Crap! Kinsey, mom must have gotten into my purse and taken the $80 that I had. I only have a $10. Do you have anything in your pockets?" I heard the one say.

"No, I don't. I only have two dollars folded up Kala." Kinsey said.

They both had a bit of a panicked look in their eyes.

Now was as good a time as any in helping those in need with my new found wealth.

Totally out of character for me, I got up and walked their direction. When I got near the one named Kala, I reached out and took the bill from her hand and continued to walk to the cash register taking them both by surprise.

"What are you doing?" Kala shrieked.

"Covering your bill." I replied and stepped up to the cashier handing her the bill while taking out my wallet. I gave her two twenty dollar bills that covered the amount due plus at least a 20% tip.

"But, why? We can't repay you." was the response I got from one of them. I then realized I could not tell the two apart other than by their different tops.

"No repayment needed. I am doing this because I want to." Turning and heading back to my table.

I sat down and the waitress, who was also the cashier, came with my drink and winked at me.

My back was to the two girls when suddenly I was hugged on both sides by them.

"Thank you so much." they both said at the same time.

"I'm Makala Jones and this is my twin sister Makinsey." One of them said.

"Scott Stevens." I said holding out my hand to shake both of theirs.

"No one has ever done anything like that for either of us before without wanting something in exchange." said Kala.

"You're welcome. Maybe you can pay it forward some time in the future." I said.

Suddenly she gave me a kiss on the cheek. I blushed and my face turned red. When I turned around the one that was Kinsey turned back and gave me a wave and a smile as they headed for the door.

In a bit the waitress brought my pizza and sat it down saying, "I think you melted those two girls' hearts. That was a very nice thing you did. They have a rough time with their druggie mother."

"That's a shame. They seem like two nice girls." I said.

"They are. They just have a rough way to go."

I ate my pizza and left another nice tip and paid my bill and left.

----------------------------------------

Getting outside: "I'm so damned mad at mom I could scream!" Exclaimed Kala.

"Yeah, I know what you mean." Kenz said. "But we would not have meet a hot cute guy if she hadn't stolen your money."

"Ya gotta point." Kala said. "Still, I am so tired of her shit and her druggie boyfriend trying to hit on us all the time."

"God, wonder where Scott lives? Where he works? Why did he stop at Pizza Hut for lunch today?" Kenz mused.

"Does he have a girlfriend? You mean?" Kala teased.

"Yeah, that too."

"Get that dreamy look out of your eyes, we aren't going to be blessed with someone like that." Kala said.

"I can dream can't I?" Kenz said as they got in the car to leave. "I bet that's his nice truck since it's the only thing in the lot besides the help in the back."

----------------------------------------

I went straight back to the RV dealer and found the main sales guy. I asked him if there were any other models the company had.

He said, "Sure there is. The two models we have on the lot are the entry level and it's sibling with more features and options. There is an intermediate RV with a choice of options. An upper level model with even more options and then the Cadillac model with everything on it that is way too costly for this lot."

"Do you have a spec sheet on the upper level and Cadillac models? And where could I go to look them over?" I asked. Then thinking he won't take me serious, "I work as an engineer for Warhammer Engineering and I'm checking into these for a company to outfit for use as a mobile training facility."

"Sure, I have the spec sheets and if you will give me your phone number, I'll check around to see where you might be able to do a walk through of them. If the company is interested in purchasing here, I might be willing to work out a deal for advertising purposes." He said.

He gave me the literature and I gave him my phone number.

I headed back home and started doing more research on the various coach type of RVs.

I found two more dealers in about an hour's drive that carried self contained RVs and made plans to visit them tomorrow after lunch unless I needed to do something after the morning meeting getting everything set up.

In a bit the phone rang. It was the RV dealer I had visited after lunch letting me know that I could view the two models that I had inquired about at one of the dealers I planned on visiting tomorrow afternoon.

I thanked him and would let him know if I thought one of these would work.

'Now how to finish taking the week off without my brother and his wife finding out and getting suspicious. Guess I would cross the state line in the morning and checkout the car dealers in that area to see what I could find on their lots and still be back in time to make the 9:00 am appointment.'

----------------------------------------

Tuesday:

I slept a bit better last night knowing I was getting things taken care of pretty quickly and might even be able to stake my claim on the winning ticket the next week. 'Damn, was my life taking a major turn.' I thought.

Got up at my usual work time and got ready like I was going to work. Loaded my backpack and headed out. After getting to the intersection to head to work. I took a right instead and headed for the state line.

I got into the neighboring county across the river and drove straight to the nearest dealer of the two in the town. It had a small 4WD Chevy Colorado but it did not have a full back seat and just a jumper door with a jump seat. They also had a 4WD GMC Canyon that did have the full back seat and I liked the gold color on it.

Went past the Ford dealer but they didn't have anything on the lot. Then headed to the 9:00 am meeting.

----------------------------------------

Met with Pete, Jim and Rob with both Pete and Rob being good with the non-disclosure. but Rob had to have a minor change just to put his touch on it. Lawyers, go figure. Jim called him out on it much to mine and Pete's enjoyment.

Rob was good with the online submittal of the articles of establishment of the LLC and gave me some guidance on what it needed to look like. I told them after they signed the NDA that I planned on hiring all three for their services. All three were good with the plans I had set up so far with Rob suggesting I get a will put in place as well as a power of attorney.

He also suggested I sign the ticket as the manager or president of the LLC however I set up the operating agreement. I planned on setting it up with Lance as co-manager with me and Betty as an agent with restrictions on how much money they can obligate at one time with a maximum per month. Rob and I will meet again on Thursday morning at 9:00 am after I have had time to think about what I want in the will and the operating articles of organization.

I then left and headed out to check out the motor coaches in Mt. Vernon.

I got there and stopped at the 1st one and they had a top of the line self contained motor home. I gave the dealer the same spiel that I gave the other dealer about my intentions and need. It pretty much had everything I was looking for or it could be added as and option. I got his asking price and asked if there was any option on negotiating a better price. He told me there was and would match any competitor with a comparable unit. I took the specs and went on my way to check out the other RV dealer that had the top of the line of the brand that I looked at yesterday. It too pretty much meet my needs and requirements but started out at $15K less but did not have a couple of features that was standard on the other unit that would bring the comparable price to just $7K in difference.

While at the second dealer, he told me about a slightly used unit that one of his customer's had for sale that only had about 35 thousand miles on it. The widow was wanting to sell it after her husband passed away 6 months ago and that he felt I could get it for about $35K less than a new one. It was only about a year and half older than new. He said that a dealer could go through it and check it our for about a grand and gave me her phone number in case I wanted to check it out.

I called the widow and she was home and available for me to check it out so I headed over to the address she gave me.

After looking the unit over, I felt it was in good shape and would have a dealer check it out if I decided on it. I gave her my phone number in case someone came buy and was interested so I could have a chance to best their price if so. This unit already had a good over/under washer and dryer as well as two nice LCD flat screen TVs along with a tracking satellite dish mounted on top.

They also had a dolly that would handle towing a smaller vehicle for use when parked for an extended time. The small car that they had used when they traveled would not due for me however and I was not interested.

I headed home with all the information and stopped by the Gas Buddy station to fill up my truck. They still had a pay phone that was outside and I used it to call the regional lottery office and inquired what the cash payout would be on the winnings from Saturday night. Damn, found out that it would be just under $32 million dollars. Based on that from what I got from Pete, I would be looking at around $22 million dollars give or take a half a mil after taxes.

At home I contemplated how I wanted things set up and decided that I would take $7 million for my personal use put the other approximate $15 million in the LLC for everything else I wanted. I could pay off mine and Lance's debts and fix up the place for them to live there if they wanted and get everything else in place to do some traveling.

I went to bed relaxed and satisfied I had things headed where I wanted them to go.

----------------------------------------

Wednesday:

I got up at my usual time to go to work and got ready to leave for the day. I had decided to allow Becky to be able to spend $5K per month before needing further approval from me when I was out traveling and Lance to utilize $25K per month in the same capacity with both having provisions of getting the difference of anything they spent each month as an incentive to not over spend. This should allow money to build up from the investments to continue having income without digging into the $15 million initial investment much if at all. I would take 10% of the earnings on a quarterly basis for now.

I headed out to explore some of the area and stopped by the RV dealer in the next town and told him about the used RV and he could service it and check it over if I decided to buy it along with any modifications that I wanted to add to it. He was happy with that arrangement since I would not be purchasing a new one from him in the capacity I had laid out earlier.

I found a small bike shop and located a mountain bike that I liked and talked to the shop owner about what else I would need to get geared up for some lite off road riding.

Then headed back across the river to a Menards and started pricing tool kits, battery powered tools, generators and etc that I wanted to add to the RV storage. I was pretty certain that I was going to take the used RV off the widows hands along with the car dolly if I can work it out after getting my money.

Got some lunch and head out driving and exploring for the afternoon.

----------------------------------------

Thursday meeting with the lawyer:

Got up again at my usual time and left like I was going to go to work. 'So much for taking the week off.' I thought with having to fake my usual routine.

I headed out after breakfast driving South to Cave-In-Rock and had breakfast in a small diner before heading back up Highway 1 then cutting over to get to my meeting with the lawyer. I was ushered into his office about five till nine and we shook hands. I handed him my notes on what I wanted to do. He spent a few minutes pondering over them and made a couple of suggestions that made sense on the handling of the scholarship and the gifting to the needy but was overall impressed with my thoughts.

He helped me get my LLC paperwork completed and told me I needed to get a couple of signatures from my brother and his wife then I could finish the on-line details and submit it. I planed on expediting it so I could make the claim the 1st of next week if not this weekend. I also gave him the preliminaries for the will and power of attorney. He also suggested I set up a living will and medical directive.

I wrote him a five hundred dollar check to cover his time today and so he could get started on the other and left. I headed to the credit union to set up another account to receive the winnings in the name of the LLC that I was establishing "Lone Wolf Enterprises, LLC".

Don't ask me about the LLC name, it was just something that came to me on the spur of the moment. No rhyme or reason. After setting it up at the credit union, they gave me signature cards for both Lance and Betty. I headed home and got some lunch then went online and setup the LLC and submitted it with my credit card for a 1 day registration so it would be done on Friday.

----------------------------------------

Lance had just pulled in from running and getting some filters, oil and hydraulic fluid to start getting the equipment ready for the fall harvest. He came to the door seeing that I was already home from work. I let him in.
