Anonymousover 3 years agoI lost quite a bit of respect for Robbie when he purposely got Nora pregnant even though he knew that she had major educational plans and also that she was warned about males with his “gift” that might try to take advantage and he goes ahead and does just that. How would he like it if a girl he slept with said she was using birth control and lied just to get pregnant.

One of your principles in relationships was that everybody involved should be totally honest to each other. I am OK with not telling anybody but Nora and Asa Weltschmerz about your talent, because this is obviously a security issue. But there is no reason for not telling Nora, who already knew about your talent, that you were able to sense the presence or absence of an egg cell ready to be fertilized.
You say "I had assumed that she was 'on the pill' ..." This would explain the absence of an egg in the first few cases. This implies that Nora did not want to become pregnant. Having intercourse with her though you knew that this might well start a pregnancy and not telling her is the contrary of honesty. This is analogous to a women dropping the pill in order to get pregnant without telling her friend.
If you did tell Nora before you fucked her, she would have had a choice whether she liked to become pregnant at this time or not. Being forced into pregnancy I would expect Nora to end the relationship right away.

I am fine with very unlikely events or talents in a fictitious story. But as it is not a fantasy story but rather science fiction, you should avoid the clearly physically or biologically impossible (I am aware that this is not achieved in many science fiction stories). This border was crossed when Robbie received a suzie signal from an organism state named zygote that just composed of a few yet undifferentiated cells some hours after conception. It takes 5 days for the zygote/morula/blastocyst to travel through the ovary to finally reach the uterus and implant there. Only after that there would be enough energy supply from the mother to transmit any radio signal, no matter how weak.
OTOH, sensing the presence or absence of an egg cell seems not impossible, as the female organism could know about that and maybe suzie-transmit this information unconsciously.
