No matter who says what, it's YOUR pace. Your pages DON'T have to be more than as you want. The intrigue is great. Lets the reader digest where you are going. DON'T give in and change for them. It's slow moving, that helps build the emotions Alicia and Jon are experiencing, so the reader has no need to hurry through a bunch of pages to get to the end. Love it the way it is.
