Nicely done.

Sweet story, and the language feels right. Good work.

Well done

BZ but that was from another era. Very appropriate language and attitudes for the era you set the story in.

One of the better and more enjoyable short stories on Lit. A delightful read and as a vet I can attest to how uplifting letters from home are when you are far from home and in harms way.

If you know anyone who is serving, send a letter. It really helps to uplift their spirits, even in is age of email and Skype.

Thanks for sharing a wonderful story.

Very nice work.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and as a military history buff I can tell you your use of language was very proper for the time period. It was almost as if we read actual love letters sent back and forth between a young man and a young lady in the early 40's. Thank you for a very enjoyable read, that although it had no sex had all of the sexual tension of a budding romance.

shades of Titanic

I enjoyed it enormously and thought you captured the era very well. He must have been the only American airman not trying to lure British girls into bed with cheap cigarettes and silk stockings.

Great story, thanks.

Homecoming...

is so much better when there's a pretty girl waiting for you at your destination. I've experienced it first-hand.

There were undoubtedly millions of 'welcome homes' into the arms of lovely women after WWII. And then there was the Baby Boom which happened shortly thereafter.

Thanks for bringing back the memories of an era many years ago.

Wonderful story. I'll admit I was dreading the end. I thought there might be a sucker punch and that Tommy would have been shot down and killed. Glad it didn't turn out that way.

Just such

Just such a wonderful story in a short two pages. Thank you so much for it! It brought a tear to this old Marines eye.

One of the most romantic stories I've read

It may not be long, or filled with graphic physical lust, but it is just long enough to tug at the heart strings.

Beautiful.

A Wonderful Story.

No one appreciates this story more than I do. Being a combat veteran myself, I can't tell you how good it was for me to come home to the people I love...

Well, that was a sweet story, but...

It was no "For the Love of Holly", then again, few stories are. Still, this was a very nice feel-good story written in a manner not normally used, by letters between the 2 main characters. I liked it, a lot.

Ah yes - those horrible times when youngsters wanted to do something beyond becoming "youbute/tiktok/instagram/<put some name> influencers" to show their coming of age.

Wonderful piece to read.

Very well written and a delight to read. You definitely took us back many decades to, possibly, a time when people still had honor and respected others. Too many misguided, nonsensical agendas today. Thank you for the time, thoughts, and skills you brought together to create this great story.
