Great though sad story, we live in scarier times then our parents ever did.
A depressing look at the future. I hate it, obviously, but I don't because it raises awareness. Probably not a huge amount given its posted here of all places, but awareness is awareness, and every little helps. To resisting!
First time reading this particular author’s work.
Very nicely written dialogue between the characters.
I think what was really well done was that in the relatively short span of this story, every particular side was given a chance to explain their motives and positions.
You and your commenters have a bizarre view of humane. Also have no understanding of responsibility.
Great story! Unfortunately, too close to the truth.

At least nineteen state Attorneys General have demanded the ...right... to medical records of women who might go out-of-state for reproductive health care. Currently it's just abortion, but who knows when IVF, contraception and the like are included.
I'm in Indiana, and _our_ AG is one of the signatories: Tod Rokita. He's (in)famous for charging an OB/GYN at Indiana University Medical School for performing a ->legal<- abortion on a NINE YEAR OLD from Ohio who was raped by her mother's boyfriend.
