Silver Moon: Bk. 02 Ch. 02

He sighed. "Yes darn it though some of it I won't tell you. Our dinner plans have changed and we are having a meal with the Grey Wolf Cheiftan and his daughter." Dan was feeling a bit tense and worried about that. He really didn't know all the lovely mating customs of the various peoples scattered around. From what he had learned was that most spirit animals didn't have a problem with random bed play since they normally could only get pregnant twice a year. The rest of the time they could play without worrying.

In the case of this girl, damn it he simply couldn't remember her name, she shouldn't have gotten pregnant. She most definitely hadn't been in heat and he had verified that before taking her to bed with him. Thank god the other girl hadn't gotten pregnant or he might not have a mate now. What her father might want in compensation didn't bear thinking about either.

Pam sighed as she felt him tense. "Fun and excitement huh? I might change my mind on liking having you in my life. This has been entirely to eventful a week." That was a definite grumble. She found she was going to be his mate, he had six babies, or would, by three different women, she had been changed, she was also pregnant, and with their luck he was going to expect to marry this person. "So what are we wearing?"

Dan tensed slightly. "Pam please don't joke about that. It scares me hearing that and I know that I couldn't deal with losing another mate." His voice was low and stressed sounding. He was healing from the loss of Nang and his family and he had a new mate and pups on the way but that scar was going to take time to completely heal. "Dressy casual clothing. Nothing really formal or fancy. We will have our jewelry on."

Pam turned and pressed a hand against his cheek. "I am so sorry Dan. I spoke without really thinking and I would never leave you." She leaned towards him and gave him a gentle kiss. "I do love you even if it was far faster than I have ever approached saying that before." She kissed him again and tucked her head into the side of his neck. "I could never leave the father of our children."

He leaned into the kiss and curled his arms around her and simply held her. Dan knew she had been joking but it had sent a jolt through him. "I know love but it still hurts and will even though I have a lovely woman in my life. Not a comparison in any way but simply part of my junk in the trunk."

Gettie could feel his emotions and decided she needed to lighten the mood a bit. "And a very nice trunk it is. I think I am going to get out and go pick out some cloths for you. Don't stay in to long so I can take care of your hair and it will be dry or mostly dry." She stood and moved out of the bathtub and pulled a towel around her body and swished her way out.

Pam couldn't help but smile. "She is a good looking woman isn't she?" Pam didn't swing that way but she could appreciate the female form. "What do you think is going to happen Dan? Is she going to have to come home with us?"

Right about then Amariah appeared as she leapt out of the spirit realm and landed with a splash and yipped in shock. As she was struggling with the sudden shock of finding herself in bathwater Pam came to her rescue. "Well since you are wet should we give you a bath?" There was definite amusment in her voice.

Amariah changed to her mid-form and muttered a few words in kitsune though she stopped when Gettie yelled at her. "No thank you lady. I am capable of bathing myself." Both were staring at her since she was maybe two and a half feet tall but perfectly formed young woman. Her tails were rather bedraggled looking since they were soaked.

Pam had to stare at her and then shook her head. "Oh my, you are a cutie in both forms though next time you change maybe some cloths would be good." As she was talking she scooped the kitsune up and stepped out of the bathtub and grabbed a towel and wrapped it around the person.

Amariah looked confused by that. "Um, why?" She asked that as Pam was wrapping her up in the towel and curled into the warmth of it and Pam's arms. As Pam was starting to dry her off she closed her eyes and relaxed. When she got to her ears she had to giggle. "That tickles."

Pam was grinning as she walked out into the bedroom. Gettie was already dressed and smiled at the two of them. "This young they don't normally end up in the human world and spend much of their days playing in fox form. Though she might look adult, in a tiny way, she is roughly fiveish in our world. The ages don't really work out that well since spirits mature vastly differently than we do." Gettie came over and stroked her ears.

"She might sound grown up much of the time but behind that is a young mind." Gettie was pretty sure that Amariah wasn't going to appreciate the information she was giving Pam. That was tough though since she was pretty sure she had adopted Dan as her spirit leader. "If you are going to go in that form Amariah you will put clothing on. Maybe a formal robe? That would look really cute on you."

Both Pam and Dan were listening to Gettie's explanation and Dan mentally groaned. This was just not what he needed right now. He had a feeling she wasn't going to leave him alone and was going to play tricks much of the time. "Thanks Gettie and I guess it is time for us to get dressed and down to the dining room." He climbed out of the tub and grabbed a towel and walked out toweling himself off. When Pam blushed he stared at her and then realized why. "Sorry Pam habit of several centuries as a lycan."

Pam was still blushing. "It isn't that I mind seeing your body but..." She had to glance at Gettie and simply got a tail twitch in reaction. "Just not used to it though I am sure I will eventually come to terms with all the casual nudity." She turned and was getting ready to work on her hair when Gettie took over.

"Let me Pam. It is far easier to have someone else do your hair for situations like this." She was going to get three braids and since this wasn't horribly formal she was getting a minimum of hair ornaments. Once she was done Gettie helped her into her clothing and made sure she had all the correct jewelry. Once she was done she turned to Dan. "Oh my, someone gets three braids now..." She snickered at him.

Pam looked at herself in the mirror and grimaced. "I am so not used to wearing a ransom worth of jewelry. I keep waiting for someone to come out of the closet and either take it back or mug me." God this was so weird and she was still not even vaguely used to the idea of being a lady much less some Kitsune person.

Dan grumbled at Gettie though not very much. The threat of getting baby food for a meal was enough to keep him in line. He did frown while she was working on his hair and did growl when she tried to put the pink jewels in it. "Not happening and on this I will stand firm." When Pam muttered about the jewelry he gave her an evil grin. "Let them try and you won't have to worry about them anymore." He could use a good fight right now. His wolf was still worked up and the fight with the spirit had a totally different purpose.

Eventually he was dressed and ready. "Well Pam shall we? Time to go and face the firing squad. Getting shot sucks but at least it normally won't kill me." Damn it he was starting to get worked up again and it was frustrating him. He didn't want to get worked up since it would make him quick to take offense.

Dan turned and looked at Amariah and raised an eyebrow since she was now dressed in a formal Kimono. Her hair was neatly done and he could see tiny jewels in it much like he and Pam had. "Most definitely darling in those robes." As he was talking he was going through his jewelry and was startled when he pulled out what he had originally thought was a bracelet with a charm on it. He had noticed it several days ago but simply ignored it.

When he pulled it out and looked at it he realized it was actually a miniature necklace that had a small dangle on it. The dangle had some sort of symbol on it but Dan couldn't seem to focus on it. With the dangle in hand he walked over to Amariah where she was standing on the bed. "I think this belongs to you. Will you accept it?" He held the necklace out to her.

Her eyes widened and Amariah reached out and touched the dangle. A tiny tear could be seen as she nodded wordlessly. She turned around so her back was to him and she lifted her braids out of the way so he could fix it on her.

Dan did that and felt a slight surge of power when he clicked the necklace shut. He turned her around and adjusted the dangle a bit and raised an eyebrow. The medallion now showed a wolf's head with three tails dangling down just in front of one ear. "Well little one it seems that you will be going back with us."

Right about then there was another surge of power and another kitsune appeared. This was definitely male and he yipped at Amariah. She growled back and suddenly they were tussling on the bed till she yipped in pain. Immediately the fight stopped and the other kitsune was licking the ear he had bit to hard. "Sorry sis, didn't meant to hurt you." His voice was sad and he gave her a good hug when she finally sat up.

All three of the adults were staring at the two. Pam couldn't help but smile and went over and settled down next to the two and scooped up the boy. "Let me guess she is your twin sister right? Both of you look almost the same." She started stroking his ears and he leaned into her and sighed.

Amariah sat up and glowered at him. "Yah he is my little brother and a meanie." Her arms were crossed and looked totally indignant. "No biting dummy and I have a formal dinner. Not mess my hair up." Now she was sounding about as young as Gettie indicated she was.

Amarish wiggled his ears and hopped out of Pam's arms and suddenly he was in a little formal Kimono similar to his sisters. He even had two tiny swords similar to Dan's. "Can I goes with Lady?" He looked up at Pam and gave her some puppy dog eyes.

Pam laughed and tickled his ears. "Only if both of you promise to behave and be good. This is an important dinner and we need to make a good impression." She walked over to her jewelry box and found a similar necklace and put it on him. The surge felt different and she had a feeling it was because she wasn't a silver moon kitsune.

The boy looked really startled when she did that and his tiny hands lifted the medallion and he squealed and jumped at her. He wrapped his arms around her neck and gave her a huge hug. "Oh thanks you lady. I can stay with my sissy here now." Once he was done trying to strangle her he shifted so he was sitting on her shoulder with one hand gently holding her ear to keep him in place.

Gettie simply smiled as Amariah did pretty much the same thing. They looked so darling in their little formal robes and seated on their shoulders. "Well it is time to go and I have contacted Sam to have two additional plates provided." She opened the door and Dan and Pam walked out.

For a brief moment Dan almost wished he had his formal robes and swords as well. That way they would all match up. He had also noticed that the little Kitsunes robes sort of matched his and Pam's robes. With a slight shake of his head he took Pam's arm and headed down to the dining room they were going to be using. "Well this will be interesting don't you think?"

Pam sighed. "I guess that is one way of looking at it. I am a bit concerned though about what is expected of you. With Mari and Sheliae they have mates even if they had or are going to have your pups. With this female I assume she hasn't mated yet and..." She couldn't finish that since she had a feeling Dan was going to be expected to mate with her even if in name only.

Dan sighed. "I know and I understand. I really didn't plan this in anyway and have to admit I am a bit ticked off with the spirits for doing this to us. They might think there is a good reason for what has been going on but I think they are ignoring the impact on those involved." He felt Amariah petting his ears and he had to smile.

When they walked into the room he found Alysson and Jon there as well as the young woman and what he assumed was her father. He was older and looked more than a bit irritated. Both were dressed nicely though somehow their cloths had an impression of Native American style to them.

Alysson glanced at Dan and Pam and had to smile. The two little spirit kitsunes looked so cute though she knew they were going to be a handful. "Chief Joseph this is Lord Alpha Danilo and his soon to be mate Lady Alpha Pamela." She turned to Dan and Pam. "Lord, lady this is Chief Joseph and his daughter Nara. I am going to leave you to talk over dinner. Your privacy is assured by me and the wards on the doors." She bowed slightly to the two groups and silently left the room. *Dan keep the yelling down and no killing your babies grandfather.*

Dan ignored that comment and stared at the man for a moment before giving him a slight bow as well. "Good evening Chief Joseph. This is our assistant Gettie and the two little Kitsunes are Amariah and Amarish." He turned to Nara and smiled slightly. "It is good to see you as well." He moved over and gave her a hug and light kiss before smiling down at her belly. "Well I guess you are going to have twins as well huh?"

Pam had to struggle not to growl when Dan kissed the other female though it was obviously just a peck. He was hers and that was all that mattered. A biological oops didn't give the other a hold on him. Amarish petted her ear which did help some. Her posture alone was enough to let everyone know that she was not happy at the moment.

The chief returned the slight bow but he was not looking happy and had a rather angry expression on his face. When Dan introduced the others he gave them a nod indicating he had noticed them. "Yes my daughter is having twins and yes they are yours. My senior shaman talked to his totem animal and confirmed that. What are you going to do about this? She is unmated and being that she is pregnant even if the spirits had something to do with it still is a problem." His beard was bristling as he spoke.

Pam still wasn't happy but she had to at least acknowledge the girl. She could tell that she was both pleased but unhappy. Pam walked over to her and gave her a slight smile. "Well Dan is off the market so we don't have to worry about any more oopses I hope." She rubbed her stomach and shook her head. "I would say welcome to the family but I am having a bit of a problem dealing with this. I have just recently accepted him as my eventual mate and this bothers me."

Nara shyly smiled at Pam and then her eyes almost went round. "You are pregnant as well? Goodness the totem animals are being active." She blushed slightly and looked down towards the floor. "I understand lady. I did not plan on having his babies and I was not in heat either." She was a fairly shy girl and all the lovely emotions that had been flying around the house back home were getting to her. Her voice dropped some and she tried not to cry. "I am sorry lady for any problems this poses to you and your mate."

Pam shrugged. "Yup, Mr. Super Sperm knocked me up the first night." She knew that Dan would grumble at her later for that term. She gave the girl a good look and nodded slightly. "It is going to cause problems and I am still not happy even if the spirits were involved." Pam wrapped an arm around her and urged her to the table. "Let's sit down and relax and let the men growl at each other. I know I am hungry and Dan's stomach should kick in shortly."

Dan acknowledged the rebuke in the man's voice but he wasn't going to bow down and give in to whatever he wanted. He would listen and consider what he wanted before making a decision. It might take a few days but they would resolve the issue to everyone's satisfaction. Or so he hoped. "I understand and respect your feelings on this and the position it puts your daughter in. I will accept her being pregnant with my pups and will do what I can that is reasonable to take care of her and them." He heard Pam talking to the girl and almost glared at her when she used the term 'Mr. Super Sperm'.

"Why don't we sit down and eat before all the screaming and yelling. I don't know about you Chief but if I am hungry that just makes me annoyed as well as my wolf. I would prefer dueling with forks to any other way." He gave the man a polite smile as he moved over to sit down next to Pam. When he did Amariah hopped down and settled in a small seat that was attached to the table. Amarish did the same.

The chief bristled some more before finally sitting down next to his daughter and across from Pam. His daughter was sitting across from Dan so they could talk if they wanted. Once seated Gettie called for the salad and it was brought in. The two little ones obviously didn't like that idea but Dan growled at them. "You will eat your salad if you want dessert. There are bits of rabbit in it as well."

Both glared at him before starting to eat it and Nara couldn't help but smile at them and Dan. "You are a good father aren't you?" She had no clue he had lost his mate and kids before he showed up. He was obviously at ease with them and appeared to know how to deal with them.

Dan stiffened slightly but didn't show anything other than that. "I have been dealing with children for years. I would like to think I am good with pups and kids." His voice was even as he spoke but when Pam pressed her hand on his thigh he relaxed slightly.

The Chief frowned at him since he had noticed Dan tense for a moment. "Why did you tense up Alpha? Scared of having more kids? So just how many more are out there?" His voice was heavy with sarcasm when he asked that.

Dan and his wolf tensed and in the back of his head and his face hardened. "That is none of your business. The only thing you need be concerned with is that I take my responsibilities seriously. I will take care of your daughter and our children." His voice was somewhat cold and hard.

The Chief growled back. "Right, take your responsibilities seriously and that is why you have so many kids scattered around. If you were serious you would have been more careful. So what are you going to do to take care of my little girl?" He was going to let Dan hopefully shoot his mouth off and run with what he had to say.

Both Dan and his wolf growled at that. Both took their responsibilities very seriously and especially now that they could have actual pups. For a brief moment Dan's eyes flashed amber at the challenge. "Don't ever challenge my honor. I have been Alpha for a good hundred years and took very good care of my pack. Challenge me again like that and I will take you to the ring."

Pam stroked his leg and gave it a gentle squeeze. "This is not getting us anywhere and if the two of you keep growling at you it is going to impact on the Chief's daughter and the mother of your pups." She traded looks with the girl and her mother. The girl had stopped eating and looked very tense. Her mother didn't look very happy either. "Now calm down both of you or I will take the other two out of here and go elsewhere."

Dan turned to Pam and looked at her. It did help calm him down as did the touch. He almost growled at her but she was his mate. Pam was also going to be the alpha female in the house and one of her jobs was to keep Dan from going overboard. He gave her a slight nod before turning back to the others. "I will do what is reasonable to ensure that she and our children are taken care of."

The Chief smiled at that. "Good, in that case by my tribe's standards that means you are expected to marry her. If a male gets a female pregnant he is expected to do right by her and that means marrying her. This is to ensure the child is not born out of wedlock and ensures the children have parents." This was entirely to good. Dan was the lead alpha for his country, was a clan lord of the Silver Kitsune clan, and hopefully he would become a member of the tribe.
