No sex? No problem. This hit the mark -- it told its point in just the words needed, and not too long. You deserved all five I gave you.

You bring little slices of history to life in ways I never thought of before

The greatest generation won't stand down as long as you're still writing, Ogg.

This story reminded me of the BBC tv show “Dad’s Army” Good telling of long lost points of history. Keep up good work

There are a couple of 9 inch guns still on Rottnest island.

I'll let you find it.

There's a large divot out of a nearby sand dunes.

Yep during training while tracking a training target being towed behind a ship the managed to kill the sand dunes.

The range may have been a bit more than you quoted not that it matters now.

Cheers for an excellent yarn.

Five out of five - per usual!

Thanks, Anon about the range of 9.2-inch guns. Yes the Mark IX had a range of 16 miles, but the Mark VIII had a range of seven miles. I assumed the Mark VIII as the port they were defending was minor.

You have a rare gift to make historical fiction come alive in a very personal way.

Your economy of words adds to the tale rather than the opposite. A lovely piece of work.

I like the historic disclaimer.

""Four Stukas and not a single pilot ejected."

They didn't have ejector seats during WWII!
