"Do I look like a myth to you?" She said with a smirk, gesturing to herself with her hand. This once again made my eyes roam her body.

"You look very real to me," I said.

She smiled. Her facial expressions seemed a little hard to read sometimes, so I wondered if she had picked up on me checking her out and how what I was saying was clearly in reference to her nude body. She seemed so human, yet she was also so different.

She sat down at my usual spot against the tree.

"You did all of this right? Moving the branches out of the way, making a path through the flowers, changing the shape of the tree so that it would fit me better?"

She looked at me and seemed confused. "I did."

"But why?" I asked.

She quickly sprung up, smiled at me, and said, "Why don't you come and ask me tomorrow and maybe I will tell you." Before I could say anything she turned around, showing off her firm ass, and then walked into the tree, disappearing into it as easy as someone would sink into water.

I stared at where she entered the tree, and when she didn't come out I walked up and touched it. It was firm. I called her name, but she didn't come back out. I spent the walk home and the rest of the day thinking about how I just met a dryad. There still was a possibility that I was crazy, but the meeting had felt so real that I was starting to trust that this wasn't just the creation of an overworked writer. Being around her was so intoxicating and the mystery of her was so strong, that I found myself continuously looking at the time as I went about my nightly routine. I tried to go to sleep early to make tomorrow come faster, but of course I spent most of the night tossing and turning.

The next day I jumped out of bed. I made a quick breakfast and half did some of the maintenance that the cabin needed that I had been putting off. The cabin was already starting to shape up much better from what it used to be, so I told myself that it was ok if I skipped out on that work today. I grabbed my bag and headed out to meet Helenaa.

When I made it to the tree she was already waiting for me up in the branch that she liked to sit on.

"Good morning," I said as I walked up and took my usual seat.

She looked down at me and smiled. 'Yes, it is."

"So are you going to answer my question from yesterday?" I asked.

"Ask again tomorrow," She said playfully. I sighed and rested my back up against the tree.

"So, are the more of you?" I asked.

"Yes and no," She said, I waited for her to say more but she didn't. We sat in silence for a bit, but it was a comfortable silence. I pulled out my notebook and laptop, I noticed that she looked down at me with more interest as I did so. I held up the notebook, "I lost this and it ended up on my car, did you put it there?"

"Yes, it was lost so I made sure it was found," she said.

"Thank you," then I thought about what she is and what paper is made out of. "Is this weird for you, since it is made out of trees?"

"I have seen some of the wasteful things humans have used trees to make, but books are one of the few things that trees will almost universally be ok with becoming. Even if they don't get a say in the matter. Compared to most of the other things humans turn trees into now, I think the books are one of the least disrespectful things a tree could become."

"So you can talk to the trees?" I asked.

"Of course I can, how do you think I moved the branches out of the path, and how I convinced the flowers to move how they grow?"

"With magic?" I asked.

"Dryads never possessed much magic, especially now, but if I ask a tree to grow a certain way, and as long as it is willing, then it will do so. It just might take a little time," she said.

"Did you read it?" I asked, feeling nervous.

"I don't know how to read," she said.

She got quiet for a while and went back to looking out at the trees. I pulled my computer out and looked up at her, she still wasn't paying attention to me. I wasn't sure if I would be able to write with her nearby, I had always needed complete solitude to work, and I had a selfish thought the night before at the thought of someone else having a better claim to the place that I had considered mine for years. Surprisingly, it wasn't hard writing with her around, she didn't interrupt me, but when I needed a moment to gather my thoughts, looking up at her seemed to smooth out whatever tension I was having when stumbling on a difficult section. After a couple of hours, I stopped writing and closed my laptop.

"What were you doing?" she asked me.

"I was writing," I said.

"Without a book and pen?" She asked.

"Yeah, this is a laptop, a portable computer which is an electronic device that lets you do a lot of things on it, including reading books off of it and write without using paper," I said.

"That's a good device," she said.

"Yeah," I agreed.

"So, you are writing stories that will be turned into books?" She asked.

"Yes," I said. She went back to looking out along the treeline, leaving

me unsure of how she was processing the information. My stomach was growling. In my haste to see her I hadn't packed any food.

"I have to go back now. Will you answer my question from yesterday?" I asked.

She smiled down at me, "Ask again tomorrow."

My summer fell into a new routine, I started to spend increasing amounts of time at the tree, most of it spent writing, but also a good amount was spent talking with Helenaa, answering her questions and asking her questions in return. She was usually perched up on her tree branch. I asked her about the view from there, and then a couple of days later I noticed little indents into the tree that looked like hand and footholds. I cautiously climbed up to her, I had always had a fear of heights. I slowly scooted across the branch and sat near her. The view was beautiful. When I was done writing I started to sit up on the branch with her everyday. I hadn't noticed it but the exposed root I would sit on had slowly been pulling free from the ground, until one day I noticed how much longer it was. Helena surprised me by climbing down from her branch and taking the new seat next to me. "Is this ok?" She asked.

"Of course," I said. While I was working I was intensely aware of how close she was to me, but as I got used to her and more into my writing I wasn't paying as much attention to her. When she gently rested her head on my shoulder I was shocked, it had been a couple of weeks and we hadn't touched once. With the contact between us, having her nude body so close, and the sweet and plant like way she smelled I started to get even more aroused then I usually was when I was around her. I knew that her touching me meant a lot when normally her kind would avoid humans.

I could see in the reflection of my laptop screen her smile and how she had her eyes closed. I hadn't noticed before her long dark green eyelashes. I paused my writing and savored the contact between us. I wanted to touch her, both in an intimate and a sexual way, but I didn't want to overstep and do something that would scare her away. I decided to take a small chance and slowly wrapped an arm around her. She tensed up for a second when I held her and I almost pulled my arm back, but then she relaxed and pressed her body against me. Her skin felt like a velvety smooth leaf and while not cold, was cool to the touch in the summer heat. I leaned back against the tree, rested my head on hers, and closed my eyes.

When I woke up it was full dark. As I started to move Helenaa seemed to become fully alert instantly.

"I can't believe I napped so late again," I said as I rubbed the sleep away from my eyes. I tried to check the time on my phone but it was dead.

"I can walk you back to your cabin," She said. I was surprised, she hadn't seemed to leave the clearing since when I got lost. She seemed to know what I was thinking about, because she then said "I wouldn't want you getting lost in the woods for a third time." I couldn't see her face in the dark, and the way she said it could have been sincere, or she could have been teasing me.

"How do you know that," I asked as I stood up and stretched. Helena ignored the question and lead the way down the pathway of flowers. I couldn't help but admire the way her firm ass looked in the moonlight and I started to get turned on again. We made it to the end of the clearing and the path became cloaked in darkness. Helena stepped into the darkness, disappearing in a few seconds. When I didn't follow her she returned.

"Its pitch black, I can't see in there," I told her.

"Oh," she said. Her body was half in darkness and half visible as she held her hand out for me. Her skin started to glow slightly at first in an aquamarine glow. It continued to get a little brighter until she lit up the area around her. Her nipples stood out by shining with a dimmer light.

"What?' she asked.

"Sorry, it's just that you are so beautiful," I said, surprised at myself for finally saying one of the things that had been on my mind to say for so long.

She smiled. "Thank you." I took her hand. The light from her body was just enough for me to be able to see a few feet out. Her hand was incredibly soft. I thought that maybe being a dryad and being made out of plant material would mean that she was weak, but when I stumbled over a rock I had missed she was able to keep me from falling without effort. We didn't talk as we walked back to my cabin.

I wanted the walk to last as long as possible, holding her hand just felt so right. We seemed to walk slowly together, but before I knew it, I could see the light of my cabin in the distance, and then suddenly we were there.

We stood there holding hands. "See you tomorrow," I said but I didn't let go.

"Yes," She said, but she didn't let go either. It seemed like she wanted something, but I didn't know if it was the same thing I wanted or not. I started to let go of her hand and she started to turn, but then in a flash of bravery I decided now was the moment. I grasped her hand and held her back. She turned around, a look of confusion was on her face. "Wha-" she started to ask but I interrupted her with a kiss. The softness of her hands were nothing compared to her lips. Her lips at a light sweetness to them, reminding me of when I had sucked the necture out of hunnysuckle plants as a child. At first she didn't return the kiss, but then she started to kiss back. She seemed like she didn't know what she was doing, but I was hardly an experienced kisser, having only had a few girlfriends in the past. She parted her lips, it felt so good that all I wanted to do was to just keep on kissing her deeper. When we pulled apart we were both breathing heavily. Her eyes had a slightly glazed look to them.

"Was that ok?" I asked, my moment of bravery had passed and now I had some self-doubt if I should have done that or not.

"Ask me again tomorrow," she said and turned away. I couldn't stop looking at her illuminated body as she walked away. I saw her start to turn off the lights as she was about to disappear around a bend of trees. She must have kept herself lit up so that I could see her body still. My body somehow felt numb and hypersensitive at the same time. I kissed her, and she kissed me back. I seemed to float as I walked back to my bed. I dropped into it, already undoing my pants.

I thought about the way Helena's lips felt as I started to stroke myself through my boxers. I hadn't kissed anyone in over a year, so going from such a long dry spell to Helena was a crazy jump in luck. I freed my erection through the fly of my boxers and it sprung free. I closed my eyes, remembering the feel of her lips pressed against mine and imaging Helena's nude body and how it would feel to touch her all over. I had been turned on for so long that day that I couldn't hold back and I quickly came, shooting my load up into the air and down onto my chest. I cleaned up the best I could with a box of tissues next to my bed and then drifted off to sleep.

***

The next day I wanted to go straight up to the tree to see her again, but I needed to go into town to get some shopping done. I wanted to push it off, but I really didn't have any food to eat. I managed to wake up early since I had gotten so much sleep the day before. I picked up a coffee and did my shopping as quickly as possible. I couldn't stop thinking about Helena the whole time I was shopping. Once I was done unloading my groceries I ate a quick lunch and then I headed out to meet Helena.

She was waiting for me on root seat that she had shaped for us. She smiled as I walked up. "Hi," She said.

"Hi," I replied.

"What took you so long? I was waiting," she said.

"Sorry, I had to go into town," I said. I took my usual seat. She immediately scooted over, pressing her body against me and rested her head on my shoulder. I reached for her hand and she eagerly met my hand with her own. I rested my head against hers again and we sat there together for a bit not talking. She started to rub her thumb along my hand. I did the same thing to her, enjoying the way her skin felt. At some point we both turned towards each other, and I found my lips pressed against hers again. The kiss was slow at first, we had plenty of time to get to know each other. Once again my senses seemed to go into overdrive at the taste of her honeysuckle lips. I wanted more so I sucked onto her bottom lip. She moaned. I started to kiss down her neck and nibble on it. I was careful at first, afraid that her skin might be weaker than a human's but as I bit down it had a give to it but seemed stronger than skin. Helena moaned even louder as I did this so I continued to bite harder as I sucked on her neck. I looked down and how that her nipples were perfectly erect. I started to kiss my way down her chest. Her heart beat rapidly as I approached her nipple.

Right when I was about to take it into my mouth, she leaned back into the tree, disappearing into it. A moment later she appeared up on her favorite branch. "I think that's enough of that for now, time for you to do your writing," she said. I wanted to argue with her, why should we stop then? All I wanted was more of her and I started to suffer the worst case of blue balls ever. I sighed and took a few minutes to calm down as much as I could. I begrudgingly pulled out my laptop and started to write. I spent the rest of the day with Helena and working on my writing. When the sun started to set, I decided to call it a day on writing. I put away my computer and used the handholds in the tree to climb up to sit next to Helena. She immediately rested her head on my shoulder and held my hand as we watched the sunset together. When the sun was nearly below the horizon and the sky was a mix of fiery reds, pinks, and oranges mixed with purple Helena kissed me. The kiss was sweet and short.

Once night was upon us we climbed down the tree and when we got to the dark path Helena did her light up trick again. I still couldn't take my eyes off her when she did this. She caught me looking at her and smiled as she lead me down the path again. When we made it to the edge of the woods surrounding my cabin we hesitated to part ways again. This time I knew what to do and we started to kiss again. We held each other as we kissed. I had my hands at the small of her back. I wanted to slide my hands down lower, but hesitated. I was still afraid that one wrong move and Helena would come to her senses and disappear out of my life. As our kiss deepened and I became increasingly turned on I couldn't keep on holding back any longer. I slowly lowered my hands, trying my best to broadcast what I wanted to do. When Helena kept on kissing me I slid my hands the rest of the way down her plump yet toned ass. She didn't stop me and when I grabbed her ass she moaned into my mouth. We continued to make out as I played with her ass. This time she was the one who started to kiss and suck on my neck, causing me to gasp at the sudden pleasure her lips were leaving in their wake. Their had to be something in her saliva because where she kissed seemed to become way more sensitive. I let out a gasp as she sucked on my neck harder. She pressed her body against me, the friction from our embrace felt too good for words.

I thought that we were going to be building up to something more, but instead she wrapped her arms around me and then just hugged me. I wanted more, but told myself to think with the correct head. I stopped groping her and just held her. Even with how horny I was, just holding her felt nice. I felt like I wanted to make sure she was protected and cared for. In the last few weeks I had talked to and spent more time with Helena than anyone else. Even after we finally stopped hugging she seemed to linger again.

"Would you like to come in?" I asked Helena. She gave me a look. "I promise I'm not just trying to get into your pants." She continued to give me that look. "Come on, you know what I mean."

"Yeah, but, I have never been inside of a human's home before," she said as we walked up towards my door.

"I promise it is going to be underwhelming," I said. I opened up the door, held it for her, and as I did I started to walk in to show her around. When I noticed she wasn't following me I turned around and saw that she had her hand pressed against the door and had her eyes closed.

I waited for a moment but she stayed there. "Ummm, what are you doing?" I asked her.

"I am learning about the tree's that built this place. Your grandfather was a kind man, the trees were happy with how he respected the woods," Helena said,

"Is the door still alive?" I asked.

"No, it is dead, but there is still echoes leftover from the tree's spirit." Helena said.

I gave Helena the tour of the cabin, which would have gone quickly, but for the fact that she kept on stopping to examine an object that would normally go unnoticed. In the kitchen it was a roll of paper towels, and in the living room she paused in front of the T.V., staring at her reflection. She was so focused on it, that I couldn't help but turn the T.V. on.

"I have heard of these, but had never seen one in person before," she said. I sat down and patted at the seat next to me. I explained to her about the different channels as we flipped through them. She had me stop every now and then, but the channels that held the most attention to her was anything with a nature documentary. She cuddled up against me on the couch and watched the T.V. with complete focus. Even though the nature shows were in a different environment then where we were now, Helena seemed to know info about the plants that they didn't even touch upon, so the night was an interesting mix of her being completely quiet, and also talking up a storm. Once she insisted that she saw another dryad in the background of a scene. I even rewound and paused the show, both things amazing her, but I couldn't see what she was talking about. She got up from me and pointed at the screen, being careful to not actually touch it. I stared at what she was pointing at and eventually I could vaguely make out the outline of a dryad in the background.

I had been so used to only seeing Helena in her environment, that having her inside of my cabin again made me realize that I was hanging out and getting romantically involved with what most people would think was a mythical creature. Around 10 pm, I started to get tired, but Helena was still laying against me and I was so comfortable there that I just let myself start to fall asleep there. I woke up in the morning and was confused for a moment as to why I was asleep in the living room and the T.V. was still on.

She nuzzled up against me as I stirred. "You talk in your sleep," she said.

"I do?" I asked.

"Yes. It is very cute," she said and planted a kiss in the hollow of my neck.
