A brilliant evocation of 40K. You painted a wonderful picture of voidship life, reminiscent of a WWII naval war film with a dash of steampunk 40k. Great job. I loved your depiction of the Ad-Mech's Techno-Lingua and smiled at the fun titbits such as

"Hour of Scampering" and "Captain Rynoldes".

On a similar note, a close reading of Deathwatch's Jericho Reach setting sees a very hefty wink towards Babylon5.

Fabulous job, DC. It's only a shame GDubs can't do as well.

Though, I must admit, this is literally just the result of me reading Master and Commander, Post Captain and the HMS Surprise in a single week and needing to write a Maturine/Aubry fan fic with a 40k flavor.

And more obscenely oversized dongs.

Speaking as someone who has been into 40k for about as long as there has been 40k, I'm loving this story so far. You've definitely got the flavour of it very nicely.

Looking forward to reading chapter 2 in 3...2...1
