I missed when this posted, urgh! Catching up now. Didn't see that coming with Dee. I'm so intrigued by these guys.

V scared the hell out of me as a child back in the 80s.

Also, where did Sys get those snow snakes? He must have dug them out from under a rock or something. Dee is a very patient soul to let a blue-haired gentleman who sounds like Cobra Commander put dead bunnies and snakes in his sink.

Very interesting scenario - I like that you've put some thought into how the biology might work. If you ever edit this, I'd suggest editing the first chapter to make it clearer that Sys is alien but humanoid, and that he is predominantly mammal - "Even his smell, of sandalwood and musk" came as a surprise to me - I was visualizing something much more reptilian.
