Learn to check your facts. Glaciers can and do calve. The word was used quite appropriately.

Calve - verb (used without object)

1.

to give birth to a calf: The cow is expected to calve tomorrow.

2.

(of a glacier, an iceberg, etc.) to break up or splinter so as to produce a detached piece.

"yet ANOTHER illiterate

"It happened when the moonshadow glacier calved."

So should we assume the glacier was a cow or you just don't proofread what you have written?

If you want to write, learn to proofread; your story was rife with terrible errors."
