"Well... that's just not on! It doesn't look wild. Perhaps some of the locals walking their dogs have been taking liberties and cutting through the garden, knowing the house is empty. I'll go and have a word with whoever it is right now, shall I?"

He looked at me anxiously, his commission suddenly not seeming quite so secure.

"No," I said. "Don't worry. I'll deal with it." I was remembering the emoji under the hyperlink that had taken me to the estate agent's web site. The small black paw print.

"Well, if you're sure..."

"I'm sure," I said. I turned and looked at him. "If you don't mind, could I meet you back at your office in a little while? I'd just like to... walk around a little."

"Of course," he said. "I quite understand." He didn't, but I didn't say anything. I just followed him out and watched as he locked up the house. Then we shook hands and he drove off.

I waited until his car was out of sight. I was remembering the emails that had followed that first one. Nervous at first, on both sides. Then hopeful. And then, finally, full of anticipation and joy.

I looked around the apparently empty landscape. There was a gentle breeze rippling the surface of the lake. I whistled. A few seconds later a black bullet emerged from some bushes and hurtled back across the garden towards me. I bent down and fussed over her. I don't know which of us was more pleased.

Then I scratched her ears and straightened up.

"Come on Polly," I said. "Let's go find her."

Wonderful Story in the telling (even if it was a fait accompli from page one).

I stumbled on one of your other stories this evening, and enjoyed it, so looked at your page and read a couple more, Some I vaguely recalled reading before, but all too often I find myself reading and enjoying a story and not even noticing the name of the author. After reading a few stories, I saw this one at the lowwer portion of the page, and wondered if I'd also previously read it. Wirin the first paragraph, I knew I'd read it before, maybe even twice before.

I read it again this evening and truly enjoyed it. Oh so well done.

I went back to your page looking for new work, and saw that you've not published anything here recently.

Hopefully, your real world writing is bcoming is successful that writing for we who prowl around Literotica is no longe of much interest.

But, please know that I - and I'm sure a lot of other readers also - would love to see a few new stories from you.

Thank you for sharing the stories that you've posted here.

A really nice story again, with a realistic and intelligent young lady than mature, beyond her years. sweet happy reuniting at the end. One comment is about the alcohol consumption. If the girl is 18 then she is allowed to drink in the UK. If it’s the USA no way she made her way back from Spain, the alcohol thing was repeated more than once, which I found really annoying, it just spoils what was a wonderful story with an unnecessary inaccurate fact. My rant over, apart from that love the story.
