drag

its well written, but the story just drags and the main characters are very much a martyr. a bit boring really.

Just hated

There was quite an amount of backstory and unnecessary details that easily could have been edited out so that we could get moving into the story. I hated that you left the story just where you did, I want to know what's happening.

But there's just one thing, this man is in his prime, a young man, and I doubt very much that any hot, red blooded man would become a martyr for a stupid indiscretion, condemned to a cold marriage without any sex whatsoever. Loving children aside, he would have sent her to hell, becoming a fixture in his children's lives and found somebody else. At least he would have forced her to listen to what really happened, maybe for a while it wouldn't made a difference, but if it didn't, then he knew this was a completely unreasonable, hateful woman.

Too Much Retrospective

Blue, Blue, Blue...you started out the story reminiscing, and then you have your protagonist going into a bar and he began reminiscing about the reminiscing. Why in the world did you do that? Not everything can happen in the past. Also, I would consider telling your stories in 3rd person rather than 1st.

Ignore the more negative comments, Blue!

I like a story that has depth and character, as yours does!

Can't wait for part 2!!!! (don't keep us waiting! lol)

Hmmmm.............

<p>Before 60yr George comments ;)</p>

<p>I didn't think you gave too much back story personally. I say that because I thought you were trying to give an insite to the main characters mind. Otherwise I think some of the commentors would have just preferred 2 pages of sex and 1 page of back story.</p>

<p>But with the back story you gave me a chance to feel bad for the husband. I mean at first I was totally unsmypathic to him and thought "well he got what he deserved for cheating and for screwing around on his wife. But then as the wife kept him dangling I felt in the end that was worse. She let him keep his hope alive that she would one day forgive him and slowly crushed that hope till he stopped caring anymore. <b>Then</b> after it was long dead decided for her benifit he could possibly sleep with her again. I think if I screwed up, and was trying everything I could possibly think of to fix the mistake, and the other person was letting me twist in the wind I think I would have eventually become hardened too.</b>

<p>The wife's character went from being the innocent party to being slowing being too vendictive to be liked, until she started getting hard up for some attention as well</p>

<p>I liked that the husband took responsiblity for his actions, but while I agree the wife had a right to be mad, her character made me stop liking her by her leaving him in limbo for years while she made up her mind whether to truely take him back and forgive him, or cut him loose and both of them find someone new.</p>

<p>I wouldn't have formed those opinions of the characters without the actual backstory. So I liked the depth you gave to the characters.</p>

<p>I wonder if George will bash the husband because he was in the wrong for the intial cheating and because he started the marriage on it's decline by his lapse of actual common sense while drunk, or somehow remotely mention about how bad the wife actions were that at the end slowly started killing the marriage. I'm betting on him bashing the husband, but I could be wrong (^_^)</p>

<p>Waiting to see what you do in part 2</p>

If Blue writes it, I'll read it!

Some readers feel my stories are too short and yours are too long! We should find a happy medium. I'm trying to guess what Sunny will reveal, and I suspect Casey isn't as blameless as she would want everyone to believe. From where he is as he tells the story, I can tell it's sad, regardless of the final outcome. You can never get the lost years back.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 17 years ago
Well, that part was boring.

And the second part is going to be predictable, I wager. I guess who the wife is going to cheat on him with will be a surprise, though. 25% for the writing not making my eyes bleed.

Great writing and story with more to come

I agree with Risq that the background you gave was not overboard or long in anyway and it did give a good portrait of the husband though not the wife.<p>I personally know people who have lived the life style just for the kid’s sake and it was bad in all the cases I have experienced. In every case the kids played the parents as adversaries of each other, as kids are perceptive at any age. They could see everyday of their lives that Mom and Dad were not in love but in conflict even if it was non-confrontational. This was a bad mistake for all the couples as each had their own unique reason for their life style. It did result in children with a very stilted idea of what a marriage was about. This has proved costly to the outcome of some of these children when they became teens and then of legal age.<p>

I got a bit of a twinge in the back of my neck as I seem to feel some comments are hinting the forgiveness not given was overboard for the actions and conciliation of the offending husband. I wonder if on this web site, if the woman had been the offender would there be such compassion for the wife if she was the one caught committing adultery. I truly wonder about the double standard, though maybe I am wrong?<p>

I am looking forward to your next chapter very much. Thank you for the great entertainment and wonderful writing.<p>PT

Her original reaction...

If I had walked in on my husband in that position I probably would have screamed, thrown things and cussed him out too. Yes, I'd probably have made him move to the other room and carried on for a while. Eventually though I would get over my mad and talk to him. Under the circumstances Blue described, forgiveness and working through it would have been my only choice I feel. However, if for some reason I couldn't move past it, divorce would have to be the only other option. No revenge, no cold treatment of him for years. After all, I'd just be punishing myself as well as him. I couldn't live that way.

As for a previous poster, I don't think we're looking at previous infidelity on her part. Her refusal to give him any chance to explain, even months later gives me the feeling that its something else, something that happened in her past. Given the desire to have him around for appearances sake for the children makes me wonder if it doesn't have to do with her parents.

Anyway, interesting and I'll be eager to see what's next.

Ridiculous Unbelieveanle CRAP

<b> 5 will get you 10 that casey KNEW and planned the drunken Bathoom blowjob with the other whore wife with the small Bikini... </b> Casy's original goal may have been to cheat once or twice then she saw how much power this pussy bastard husband... how he totally collapsed .... so she ran with it.

<br></br>

sorry.... there are already so many things wrong with this story... so many unaswered and unexplained things that it kills this story in its crib.

<br></br>

For example... by the end of Chapter 1 he doesnt give a shit about wife his "wife" wants him or not. So WHY is upset now? Obviously his wife has been whoring around for years using the drunken blow job as an excuse. So WHY should he be bothered / upset?

<br></br>

SECOND the husband is hardly a man which is the biggest problem. The pussy husband asks "Was I being a wuss? Had I turned into a pussy? " Is George Bush a Moron? Only Blue88 could even try to assert "Perhaps..."

<br></br>

when the wife comes up with a punishment it was 6 weeks later. 6 weeks later.

<br></br>

How is his punishment the least bit reasonable.?? The wife doesnt say 'it has to be this way until I get over what you did and it may take a few months.'.... She says it will be like this forever !!!

<br></br>

So pussy husband says... sure. Yet he is angry???? WHY? ... did it ever occur to him walk out and see is this forces his wife to confront the issue head on?

No of course not... b/c in Blue88 stories all the husbands have pussies!!!

<br></br>

<b>why doesnt this pathetic Pussy man EVER ever say anything about the OTHER whore wife with the small bikini who trapped him the bathroom? I mean the wife is uspet about the marriage... but the other woman doesnt even get a phone call of anger from Casey? </b>

<br></br>

How after years and years he never brings it up ? The husband has all this rage built up inside him... then one say she finally says " maybe you can move back into MY bedroom..." and all he says is No thanks.?!?!??

<br></br>

Unbelieveable... <b> By that I mean that he wants no part of her... Ok fine. I can see that. But then again I have to ask WHY is he angry? How can he be angry afer all this time yet not bother to clear his name and the events that actually happened? </b>

<br></br>

you see Blue88 tries to have it both ways.... The husband doesnt give a shit YET has all this built up anger and rage.... that never comes out even after years and years.

<br></br>

When the wife says this is the deal take or or leave it... he could of said "can I get 5 minutes of speech before you essentially make me a doormat? Are your love for the kids strong enough for me to speak to you 5 minutes? you dont have to listen..."

'Blue:'<p>You've spun an interesting and engaging tale. I particularly enjoyed the back story which introduced your protagonist and gave his history. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt that everything you included was pertinent to the story.<p>I would have to disagree with a previous comment regarding your use of the first person perspective. It's a much more difficult viewpoint from which to write. As the reader, I can "travel" through the story "seeing" through the protagonist's eyes; I can "hear" his thoughts. Thus far the journey has been very enjoyable.<p>I also happen to enjoy your protagonist's sketching his troubled past with the "Reggie" character. I appreciated your using the here-and-now as the platform from which events were related which had already occurred.<p>The progression of changes the husband experiences...from his originally being a cad and laying most of the blame for his transgression on alcohol; to his becoming truly penitent and agreeable to his "punishment," initially out of guilt, subsequently because of his children; to his realization that he no longer desires to return as "husband" in his marriage...were reasonably and intelligently presented.<p>I found interesting too the way the wife's attitude changed: from wronged and deservedly angry; to overly vindictive; to conciliatory because that would best suit her needs. It felt as if husband and wife exchanged positions as sympathetic and unsympathetic characters.<p>And then your "hook." What is it that he's going to learn from his sister-in-law? You gave just enough information to whet our appetites for more. In short, your dialog was especially done well...very realistic and credible; your protagonist's introspection was enlightening; your characters' behavior was very believable; your story has been quite compelling. Perhaps you should be chided for tantalizing your readers for too slowly unfolding your plot. 'Blue,' I've really enjoyed this so far. I can't wait to see what happens next.

An Interesting Marriage

Initially I thought I was reading a "Loving Husbands" story. The husband screwed up and was going to pay some penance, except that the penance went on and on and on. By the end of Part 1 it didn't matter why the wife was exacting her pound of flesh but I did wonder why the husband accepted her retribution. For the sake of the children? Even a part time dad would be better off than this guy.*****I have always enjoyed this author's stories even if I don't understand the husband's motivation in this one.

Alvaron53Alvaron53about 17 years ago
Excellent

Some said the story was boring. It wasn't. Others claimed it had too much backstory. It didn't. One complained about the first person perspective. They shouldn't've.

<P>

It's a superb opening chapter with finely drawn characters. The author's use of flashback is good, and it's a sign of sure authorship because to tell a story this way and make it entertaining isn't easy. My only quibble is that you didn't tell me quite enough about Casey to allay my curiosity about her reaction to "The Incident." But I bet you will. ;)

<P>

I have to smile at Harry's persistence. By gosh, he's going to find a way to blame some cheating wife somewhere somehow whether it's important to the story or not. Lest we forget, the category is "Loving Wives" not "Cheating Wives."

<P>

Thank you, Blue, for an intriguing start

Blue has written it and I've read it and I'm hooked. I'm just hoping the next installment comes soon.

It's getting increasingly difficult to come up with a new theme in the LW category but clearly, Blue, you have done it here. Congratulations!

I like the way you're telling this story

The changes from telling his friend to direct recollection are well done and effective.<BR>

But, it seems to me you have given us three pages of an LW story with no LW. If the author cannot establish the story's cred in the genre in 10,000 words, how many does he need???<BR>

At the moment I'm left with a sort of empty feeling because little of consequence has been revealed in the 10,000+ words so far.<BR>

Maybe, as someone else posted, she 'arranged' hubby's seduction? Not likely, as she seems to have had no profit from it.<BR>

But, if Ted is the children's father, then she has hit the jackpot - Alex supporting her and the kids while she goes off to screw Ted regularly...<BR>

Just another possibility.<BR>

But, all our theories are just so much hot air... I'm waiting for Blue's conclusion.

I guess something really bad is coming

If I had to bet, I would say that we find out the husband has been getting shit on bad for a long time. Given the author's tendency to justify almost anything from the wife and his penchant for making the guys suffer, I would say its almost inevitable. <p><p>

Since blue seems think guys should forgive and forget even when they are perfect husbands, Im almost cringing to think about what he has up his sleeve for this husband who isnt perfect. <p><p>

Anyway, its a good start to the story so far. Has a lot of people guessing about whats coming up in part 2. Thanks for writing.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 17 years ago
Well, I thought it was a good read.

Certainly good enough for me to put my book of the day down for a few minutes.

<p>

It was interesting and has my interest piqued as to what triggered his going to some lovely island and "livin' in la vida loca."

<p>

I'm assuming it was either some latent infidelity of hers or, oh hell, maybe a long-going, on-going downright cheating. If I were a conspiracy theorist - which I ain't - I might even think the thing with Terry was a setup done with the collusion of Casey. Now that's a plot!

<p>

I'll patiently wait for Blue's next installment. Me, well I'm retired and a long story is better than a short story. If it's long enough I can save a buck at the used book store.

I liked it, Blue. Stand by your guns!

Shock- I agree with risq 001 for the most part

Like almost all of Blue88's stories, this was another winner. As risq 001 pointed out(I think), initially the husband was a drunken asshole who deseved to get thrown out. As the frigid marriage dragged on for years with no love you start to cheer for the husband . Then you start to wonder what the hell is the matter with the two of them. Wife has become totally vindictive , he is treated like a servant and yet they both stay together. Why?

Then when a potential break in the nightmare happens with Sunny's plea to call her and you start wondering whether she is going to explain Casey's vindictive behavior, Dummy can't bother to call her.Strange story. Sounds a little bit like that old classic Shannon's Revenge.

What a double standard you guys have

I can't believe people are starting to root for this "protagonist". He at no point ever felt any remorse for the PAIN he has caused his wife, all he ever thinks about is how unfair everything is for him. He makes zero attempt to understand her, he hasn't even taken a moment to wonder what she feels. These "years of suffering" are because of his inability to take any real steps to make up for what he's done.

Of COURSE she hasn't forgiven him, because he hasn't even tried to begin the process of acknowledging what he did to her. You can't forgive a person until you believe they are sorry, and a person can't be truly sorry if they don't even understand what they've done to you.

If this story were written with the genders reversed, NOBODY would be rooting for the wife to get the husband's forgiveness, they'd all be calling her a self-centered bitch.

Bullshit

How can this dumb motherfucker be so successful in business and be such a loser elsewhere? He is just a lush.

Why do you overplay the kids game? Sure the kids are important but this arrangement is stupid. No sane person would tolerate that much abuse.

Also, why do you allow booze to control your protaganist? Once again alcohol is blamed for his actions and stupidity.

Don't fault the wife. The dumbass husband was well aware of her position concerning adultery. How could she ever trust him again. She might forgive him but only an idiot would forget.

I compliment you on a fairly well written story.

AnonymousAnonymousabout 17 years ago
Hell hath no fury or ..Beware the games you play..

In the beginning she stipulated all the terms he had to accept to continue living under the same roof. He's made a few clumsy attempts to get back in her graces and they've all failed. His apology went even unrequited. When she invited him back into "her" bedroom with the statement that "the children will begin wondering and that she didn't want to start rumors" I would have raised the following issues.

1. I've grown quite a bit since the "incident". I can concede that I killed your love for me in that one instant but you'd better realize you've done the same to me in your "death of a thousand cuts". You won't speak to me, you've shut me out of your life, you've never given me the opportunity to show how much I regretted the incident nor would you even allow me to apologize. I don't resent you or this situation as it is punishmnt of my own making. The consequence though is that after this length of time I've had to let my love die for you to do it. I have accepted your terms to the letter and I fully intend on adhering to them until the children are grown as they were the specific consideration for our arrangement.

2. For the sake of the kids I have remained true to my word and have provided for you and the kids without your love and without complaint and will continue doing so until the conclusion of our situation. Any notion that I still have some past debt to pay is something you can hold onto but at this point my love for you is at an all time low and I'm no longer concerned for your feelings on the matter! Let's face it, right now we're barely aquaintances. We have drifted so far apart in interests and goals that at this point we may as well be strangers. I don't know you and you definately don't know me! I'm willing to meet you half-way but before I take a first step I need to know what you are willing to do to win back MY LOVE!

When you come up with a suitable plan let me know and we'll talk. Until then we'll maintain the status quo!

The subtitle..

The subtitle of this little tale is "Can one small, insignificant incident destroy a marriage? " An interesting question, but what does it have to do with this story? The only 'incident' we are shown is the husband's flagrant and very public infidelity. There is certainly nothing remotely insignificant in what he did.

Wonderful

Blue, I really love your writing. You care for the characters, you develop great tension, you throw in some humor and you have great story lines. You ought to quit your day job and just write. We don't get to hear enough from you.

A couple of thoughts; I would like to know more about Casey and why she is so one dimensional. It seems difficult to believe that someone could be that bitter for that long, but we have all heard of people who are. Perhaps it is mostly women because the marriage and home are often their focus in life, and a selfish act like his destroys their dream. Secondly, I have to agree with some of the other comments, I wonder why a man would put up with that kind of abuse for that long. Your having him subliminate his anxiety into his career is both normal and understandable, but at what price for the children? Aren't they going to pay for their parents' freezer temperature relationship? I find it difficult to believe that they are growing up unscathed. When will they both realize that what they did "for the sake of the children" was to scar them emotionally for life?

In any case, please don't delay the rest of the story. You have us on the edge of our seats:>)

Personal attacks aside, having sex in a rest room with the door unlocked during a party when anyone could be expected to walk in is having sex in public. But putting that aside as well, my point is that whatever excuses our hero could offer, and however extreme and protracted wifey's reaction, the 'incident' was by no means insignificant.

Please try to comment on ideas and the stories, and reader comments on the stories.

You said

<br></br>

<i> The only 'incident' we are shown is the husband's flagrant and very public infidelity. There is certainly nothing remotely insignificant in what he did.</i>

<br></br>

The problem seems to be you didnt REALLY read the story.

<br></br>

<b> The Husband did NOT seek out this other woman. He was ATTACKED.

<br></br>

He never intended or sought out any sort of sexual contact of ANY kinbd with this other woman.

<br></br>

He did NOT risk public exsposure to and humilation of the wife. </b>

<br></br>

yet You accuse HIM of infidelity? Facts are facts. Even if you dont like them.

<br></br>

Suppose it was the wife that was drunk and some guy was FORCING himself on the wife and the Husband walked in. Everyone here would be screaming RAPE!!!!

<br></br>

I think Harry's point about why the Husband over several years never attempted to clear his name of a martial crime/ infidelity he did not commit is a Valid point with this story.

She then grabbed my dick and before I knew it we were fucking. I bucked my hips and slid my cock in and out of her, listening to the slurping noises coming from between us. It didn't take long before I felt myself let go and I staggered as I came. Terry must have enjoyed herself because she was clutching my shoulders, shuddering and wailing like some kind of banshee.

Sure is easy to write "drama" about a passive drunk male.

The "guilt" created for the character seems artificial. And no, I can't understand why this gung ho businessman would forget to call Sonny when he knew it was important to his life. More the passive character, and one generating little interest for the reader.

I like it.

Here's a nice straightforward narrative - not running on the usual rigid tramlines:

i. the crisis blows up

ii. the long boring backstory

ii. the resolution.

Good situation - looking forward to part 2.

My guess is that Casey has been cheating, maybe even before "The Incident".

Maybe the trips to Sonny have been covers for her trysts?

AnonymousAnonymousover 9 years ago
Actually, I like what Casey has done

I would do the same thing if it were my wife. I'd ban her to another bedroom, keep conversation to a bare minimum and never touch her again. No other woman either though, as long as we were married.

I'd make her leave on her own, with what she could carry in her car.

This is at leat the second time I have read this, but it has been years

and thoroughly enjoying. The rate of credible author's new submission is like rainfall in the Sahara desert, so going back to read Blue shine even brighter. A 5 from me. I cannot remember how this turns out and so looking fwd to next Chapter.

Please write again for LW, you and your talent are missed.

WHEN IS A WIMP \\\\\\\NOT A WIMP

KRD19254KRD19254over 7 years ago

Yes, he should have divorced.... What they never considered is what their children were learning (by example, observing what they think AS a normal loving family) "this was a normal loving family relationship?" No parental intimacy or show of caring/affection/love [this was the kids normal] - think of the damage to the kids as their value perceptions!

How do I know this - it happened to me. But she was the cheater and I accepted it for the kids, then she became the cold bitch towards me - I stuck it out for the kids - big big mistake. My two are now in mid-30's and have NOT had a meaningful relationship yet - I doubt I'll ever be a grandpa.

I allowed them to be damaged - I failed and only now realize it. I should have dumped her cheating ass in 1989 at the 12yr mark, buttt hind-sight.

I'm hooked... an interesting story line and well written.

I'm not feeling much sympathy for Alex. How long would it have taken him to "get over" seeing his loving wife boned on a shit house vanity? If you really love someone that you've totally devastated you should man up and pay your penance.

sorry no excuse

Repeated ''I was so drunk'' theme. Never bought into that excuse.

I have been told I am cute, handsome, very good looking, exceptionally attractive, even drop dead gorgeous. Add to that exceptional body with arms women have often impulsively grasped, a small tight butt, and legs numerous women have said are the sexiest ever. In summer I wear hemmed jean cutoffs and complete strangers have come up to me and commented on them.

My wife has been there when that occurs. My wife has also noticed other women bending over to give me blatant cleavage shots. She also knows my immediate reaction isto look away. One married bar owner who ffrequently tended the bar loved teasing me. Tight tank tops, halter tops no bra she was always leaning on bar and using elbows to squeeze her DDs together and smirking when I looked away my face flushed red in embarrassment. My wife's married and single co-workers would hit on me right in front of my wife but to no avail except to infuriate my wife.

I was always a work hard party hard construction worker. Drank triple bourbon sages in beer mugs...was nothing for me to drink a fifth and be quite functional.

True I sometimes got very drunk. In all stages of imbibement I was offered sex. I have had breasts exposed to me, skirts raised exposing bare pussies. I coached women's softball and at a team party a very cute married blonde snuck up behind me and twisted my arm behind my back. I could feel her hard nipple pressed into middle of my palm but I did not squeeze her breast. At bar closing she asked for ride home...when I stopped infront of her house she spread legs wide with gear shift between them, skirt raised exposed blond mound curls and lifted her sweater to show her naked breasts...she refused to let me shift gears until I kissed her. I refused and stared straight ahead.

My wife's friend threw houseparty and I got stoned and drunk. Should mention bourbon drinking always makes me horny and hard and can fuck all night without coming until partner is too sore to continue. My wife and I had been getting cozy...as in she had me rampantly hard and was whispering what she had planned. I was sent to get her coat and purse and meet her in our car. We were last couple to leave and friend's husband was passed out on couch. I went into master bedroom where coats had been placed on bed and there was hostess nude, knees up and legs spread, leaning on elbows with C cups thrust up and nipples pointing at me. She made comment about if I wanted coat I would have to move her. I spotted wife's purse grabbed it and left. Wife wanted to know where coatwas when I got to car. I told her. She was furious and went storming into house...heard few minutes of yelling before wife returned.

I do not care how drunk you are...no one is too drunk to forget they are married. That is rationalization for having acted on desire to screw someone other than spouse.

If husband in story walked in on wife fucking some guy he would have demanded divorce. This story is his justification for cheating and assigning blame for consequences on ''unreasonable'' wife.

Yet Another Ridiculous "Drunk" Stories

It is amazing how misogynists are able to excuse MALE people/characters for cheating while drunk and at the same time would BTB any FEMALE character for the same. They would even make FEMALE character looking bad because she was drinking while it is "humorous" when a MALE character is drunk.

Pathetic. 1 star for this junk.

Seems

everyone wants to discuss their own personal paradigm/feelings rather than the story. I'm sure I've been guilty of it at times. Recent comments on this story struck me as a strong example of this tendency.

Complete nonsense that he would waste the best years of his life in a loveless and sex less marriage, living as a eunuch.

No sane man would do that. Would have made more sense if he at least got laid on his travels, maybe set up a mistress until the children grew up and he could get a divorce.

Boring after page one!!!!

iameaseliameaselover 2 years ago

What I find fun, even though this story just dragged, is how the readers sided with the hubby that he shouldnt have to live like that but when its a woman who cheats and the husband does the same as she did...well it isnt just enough for that bitch. Correct me if I am wrong...................I'll wait.

And this is why there will always be claims of hypocritical idiots and misogynists here, because far too many are either or both.
