On the screen there was an audio file. 53 minutes. What? I pressed play, and immediately had a heart attack when I heard my own voice, slurred by alcohol.

Anonymousabout 3 years agoI find it odd how several commenters think there's some mystery about the "disaster that has struck the world." It's obviously climate change (as the tags say: the anthropocene), which—as we're already experiencing—doesn't come in the form of one sudden great disaster event, but as an increasing number of worse and worse "normal" disasters—droughts, fires, hurricanes, floods—and with regions gradually becoming unlivable.
I really like how the story weaves all this into the worldbuilding, and the details feel very grounded and plausible. If anything, it's probably a too-optimistic projection of how things will look in a few decades.
Anonymousabout 3 years agoI love how it’s basically a mystery with plot twists as things are slowly revealed. I was expecting this to be some sort of harem building story with the mention of the hot neighbor and being able to affect his boss (I had suspected originally that it was something about Sara, with her reluctance to talk about her past and he mentioned receiving blowjobs in the past... although maybe he never came in their mouth? Or maybe something has been done to him more recently)
It’s great to see an author who actually fleshes out their characters and world (at least, I suspect you have, with the hints that you’ve given about some sort of disaster and lack of resources; I suspect a heat wave as they’re worried about Arizona, but you’ve hinted that it’s not the summer yet, as he’s trying to improve the insulation before it gets to warmer months).
I admit, I was worried at how short the first chapter was, but I’m really looking forward to seeing where you take this
Doortotheabout 3 years agoYou know what could be a really sexy twist? Getting Sara in on it. Consent is hella sexy, especially in this context. Though, this is probably a comment for chapter 2, as you've already seem to be set in going in a certain direction.
