Well done for an extremely well written story that really turned the emotional taps on full bore. Making this comment hard to write through the tears you have jerked from my eyes. Congratulations.

Another beautifully done, emotional story.
Except . . . is he Bob, or George?
Sorry - things have moved on since romance really mattered except to we 'older folk' - seems to me that nowadays unless it has sex and violence in large amounts it has no chance. Whatever. It certainly deserves 5* and that's what it gets, because even we older folk enjoy a good story. We don't need the extras!!!!!!!!!!
You win every time you write
Thank you for another wonderful story

...a requiem for Hallmark by any other name, though. ;-)
5* still. Even if it is the best Hallmark ad copy ever written.
what Wilcox49 said - is the husband Bob (for most of the story) or George (when he gave her the first valentine and she sat on his lap?) - just curious.
Thank you to those who noticed an errant George in the story. He should be Bob. I'll edit after the contest has ended.
This was a sweet old-time romance and a reminder to us all to go buy that card now or it might be the very last one we buy!
Seems the stories I've read of yours are always a pleasant and gentle read. You remind us all that not every story has to stand on outlandish and wild events to succeed. In fact, it's a breath of fresh air to be reminded that old fashioned love is really the most important thing to experience in life...a very good and important reminder.
Extremely well written. Not only do I enjoy your writing, I am able to relate to your writing style as closely as I relate to works in my mother tongue.

many stories on here are about the action, and not the emotional engagement. congratulations for writing the opposite that still manages to say far more than its words
I recently lost my wife to Leukemia. We had been married 40 years, working on eternity. And she had me from hello. Before I would leave the house and as soon as I got back I hugged her and kissed her, even if it was just up to get her a pack of cigarettes. Because to me I never knew when the last would be and I didn't want to ever miss one. One night I came in from work at midnight and she was only half way on the bed. I moved her up where she should be, covered her, hugged and kissed her goodnight and somewhere in the wee small hours of the morning my Angel left me. Yes I still cry, but I know she knew with all heart she was loved with all of mine.
Thank you for your story!
Thank you oggbashan for this warm and loving Valentine story, brought a tear to my eye at the end. 5 stars
